Do you wear foundation everyday to work?

I recently started a grad scheme. This morning I realised I had run out of foundation. My reaction to the prospect of going into the office without it really surprised me.

Everyone my age wears make up.

I wear BB cream, over moisturiser, blusher, eye shadow and liner, mascara and lippy.

I'm light-handed with it all though, so it doesn't look heavy and pancake-y. My skin is pasty and pale, so needs a bit of help, and my eyes are quite a light blue-grey. Without a bit of make-up, my eyes look like someone's cut 2 holes in an off-white blanket.

I only do the full works if I'm going somewhere special.

I've never worn foundation or face powder. I don't understand the idea if cleaning your face to immediately cover it with grease and dust.

LakieLady · 17/01/2020 13:50

Meant to add, I'm 64 (but can pass for at least 10 years younger). I'm very careful to avoid that old-lady-with-a-faceful-of-slap look!

Bannerpants · 17/01/2020 13:53

Im 40 and wear primer, foundation, concealer, powder, blusher, eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick everyday.
It takes me 10-15 minutes to do. Its as natural to me as putting my knickers on in the morning.
I dont feel like 'me' without it.

I've never worn foundation. Last year I used a tinted moisturiser and it ended up staining a couple of (white) tops I had, I'm not entirely sure how, (maybe it just migrated down my neck) so I won't bother again.

Sadiee88 · 17/01/2020 13:56

Yep. Otherwise I look 👻

BentNeckLady · 17/01/2020 13:58

In the winter I wear a bb cream and mascara. In the summer I don’t wear anything. I’m almost 40 and most of my colleagues don’t wear much either.

loobyloo1234 · 17/01/2020 14:00

Early 30's - every day I wear it yes. Routine. That and some powder to make me look less pale in the winter. Then some blusher. All makes me feel (and look) better anyway

Figgygal · 17/01/2020 14:01

39 today Confused
Don’t wear make up from one night out to the next which these days can be few and far between

PeridotPassion · 17/01/2020 14:02

No.

I moisturise then wear concealer where needed, powder, eyebrow pencil, mascara and blusher.

Foundation on nights out/events. My day make up takes me 5 minutes —at red lights on the way to work—

onanothertrain · 17/01/2020 14:02

I only wear foundation if I'm going out out but even then not always. Going to the office I wear powder, mascara and lipstick, sometimes concealer if I look particularly knackered.

WillingSpringTime · 17/01/2020 14:04

I wear it everyday to work. I would love to not have to but unfortunately I have hormonal acne which has been made worse during this pregnancy and so I need to cover it up for my own sanity.
However, I will happily walk around home or the local supermarket with a bare face.

BlooperReel · 17/01/2020 14:09

Yes, because I am pasty as fuck without it. Liquid foundation (1 pump), a little blush, and mascara and I look so much healthier.

k1233 · 17/01/2020 14:11

Yes, in my 40s. Always have done. I've got 10-15 mins of a morning to do hair, makeup, iron clothes and get dressed. So it's not time consuming.

megletthesecond · 17/01/2020 14:12

No.
I'm 45 and never owned foundation. Concealer for spots and a mascara is my beauty regime.
I'd rather spend my money and time on decent moisturiser and exercise.

EC22 · 17/01/2020 14:21

I usually do but I wouldn’t panic about not wearing it, mascara on the other hand, I need every day.

ClientListQueen · 17/01/2020 14:22

Yep, full makeup every day which is usually

Foundation, concealer, powder, highlight, blush
Eye primer, eyeshadow (3-4 colours), liner, mascara and brow gel
Lip balm/gloss

ClientListQueen · 17/01/2020 14:23

Oh and it takes me 15-20 mins

joffreyscoffees · 17/01/2020 14:24

Yes because I have awful skin and wouldn't dare be seen at work without it. I don't really care on a weekend at home though lol.

EmrysAtticus · 17/01/2020 14:35

31 and never wear make up. Noone has ever commented on it and noone recoils at the sight of me so I seem to have gotten away with it :)

Theflying19 · 17/01/2020 14:37

Nope. Never. Forge your own way. Do the blokes wear foundation to work?

goldenorbspider · 17/01/2020 14:42

No I like to have a few bare faced days. I have eczema and it does the world of good.

VioletVerity · 17/01/2020 14:47

I'm 27 and wear a full face of make up when going out and definitely for work!

Moisturiser, Primer, Foundation, concealer, eyeliner, light eyeshadow, mascara, blush, powder, eyebrow pencil, a contour stick, lip balm and a tiny bit of highlight.

I usually give myself 40 - 60 mins to get ready including my hair, although I'm wondering how this will work when I'm back at work soon dropping my LG off at nursery for 7.30amBlush

I've never ever ran out of foundation.. I obviously would go to work but I'd be mortified. This is purely my own opinion of myself, I feel more confident & 'myself' with make up on. Sad but true.

notalwaysalondoner · 17/01/2020 14:51

I’m 30 and wear BB cream, blush, highlighter, eyeliner and eyeshadow. Takes me less than 5 minutes. I can’t wear mascara on a daily basis as removing it gives me eczema in the corners of my eyes, I would if I could. Until I found BB cream I just wore powder, not foundation as I hated having to take a full face off every night.

My granny who is 98 and has always great skin swears that wearing foundation every day protected it.

Salene · 17/01/2020 14:51

Aged 40 and yes I wear make to work , I use BB cream instead of foundation but my face is always done up nice so to speak
