Do you wear foundation everyday to work?

I recently started a grad scheme. This morning I realised I had run out of foundation. My reaction to the prospect of going into the office without it really surprised me.

Everyone my age wears make up.

No I’m 34 and I use at tinted moisturiser. Little bit of blush and bronzer, mascara and I’m done!

enjoyingscience · 17/01/2020 14:57

Yes, but I have very blotchy skin and a large mole which is distracting. Would much rather not have to, but hey ho!

I rarely wear make up and wear foundation about 6 times a year usually on an evening. I'm a self employed GP. I don't care if our staff wear make up or not.

Mary1935 · 17/01/2020 15:05

Yes I lost my foundation the other way and went out and bought some more prior to work. It makes me feel a touch more confident. However, mines only a L’Oréal one and it comes of quickly. I look rough by the end of the day!!🤪

crimsonlake · 17/01/2020 15:07

Hardly worn make up all my life, certainly never have used foundation, hate the feel of anything sitting on my face. I now do wear mascara daily for work and under eye concealer, but I am hurtling towards 60.

If they are paying you, then yes fair enough.
I need paying for my time Grin

Gosh OP you've a while to go before you need to worry about looking old. I had good skin at 23 - I'll be 33 this year and skin is still good! My only advice re maintaining nice skin is don't or stop smoking depending if you smoke already. I've noticed those of my friends who do smoke definitely look older. When I do my make up it doesn't take long. Maximum 10 minutes if I faff, probably closer to 5. I use tinted moisturizer, a light dusting of powder foundation, a bit of eye shadow, mascara and either gloss or lipstick. I should probably use bronzer or blusher as I'm very pale but I've never found a tone that suits and I'm worried about looking tango-d or garish so don't bother.

ForMySorrow · 17/01/2020 15:11

I'm 26 and stopped wearing make up for work around 6 weeks ago. I've got long eyelashes so only used to put foundation and a bit of blush on anyway.
My skins got smoother and clearer now that I'm not using it everyday and I'm a lot more confident going make up free.
It's made the mornings a lot more stress free.

okiedokieme · 17/01/2020 15:11

No, often wear no makeup, its work not a fashion show

Nirvana1979 · 17/01/2020 15:13

I always have, foundation, powder, mascara and a little bit of lip gloss.

I think there was one occasion when i didnt and every one said i looked ill and should go home haha! I am very pale without it.

Palavah · 17/01/2020 15:14

Yes. And generally at the weekend unless playing sport/at the gym/popping to the shop in my my pyjamaes. Except when I'm on holiday as I'll be wearing sunscreen and in/on/by the water.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 17/01/2020 15:19

I'm mid 40s and have never ever gone to work without makeup on. Have worked FT since 16.

Only takes about 5 mins to do. Makes the world of diff esp now my rosacea is more noticeable as i've got older.

Quite often don't wear it at weekends tho.

Dieu · 17/01/2020 15:21

Yup. Every day without fail (unless stuck at home).

Purpleartichoke · 17/01/2020 15:22

I wear a tinted moisturizer with spf. Mostly because I need the sunblock, a bit because my skin has red blotches. I pair that with eyebrow powder and a swipe of mascara because I have so blond they are white eyebrows and lashes

silencebeforethebleeps · 17/01/2020 15:24

Mid thirties, never worn any makeup.

elenacampana · 17/01/2020 15:27

Not stating my age as I can’t see why it’s relevant.

I wear light makeup to work but save products like eyeshadow, count out etc for special occasions. I prefer how I feel with a little foundation, concealer, highlight and blush.

elenacampana · 17/01/2020 15:28

*concealer npot count out

mdh2020 · 17/01/2020 15:33

I’m retired and still wear foundation, powder and blusher everyday. If I don’t think I’m going to be going out I wear tinted moisturiser

allfurcoatnoknickers · 17/01/2020 15:35

I don't, although I used to until recently. I do a glow primer, mascara, brow gel and blusher. Maybe highlighter if I can be bothered. Usually throw some lipstick on at work.

Pixilicious · 17/01/2020 15:39

Yes. The only place I’d go without putting makeup on is to the gym.

Greyhound22 · 17/01/2020 16:29

I wear tinted moisturiser, blusher, eyebrows, eyeshadow, sometimes eyeliner, mascara and then lip balm/lipstick/gloss.

Have been discussing it with my staff recently - have three women employees - two never wear make-up one does but not always for work. They said I always look 'polished' without being able to tell I have a lot of make-up on which was a nice compliment.

My work make up takes about 5 mins.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 17/01/2020 16:38

I do. Light foundation, eyebrows and a bit of mascara and a winged liner. I am goth so it's a look. Also like the SPF in the slap.

bwfcchick88 · 17/01/2020 16:40

I wear BB cream.

Pimmsypimms · 17/01/2020 16:42

I have hyperpigmentation on my forehead so would never leave the house without foundation. I feel really uncomfortable with anyone, apart from family and close friends, seeing it.

Dozer · 17/01/2020 16:44

Foundation / powder only. Dislike it if run out and feel a little self conscious but not to the extent that would buy more on way to work that day. Wore more make up at your age OP and would’ve bought foundation / lip gloss immediately if ran out.
