...Scene One?

I think we probably do need a third thread.

Especially when the RF are having a Big Meeting today.

Today ? Thought it was tomorrow?
Queen will be at church today 😁

mindproject · 12/01/2020 10:23

I wonder if they are discussing whether this deflection tactic is working or not? It seems to be working on Mumsnutters (half of whom seem to be PIE agents, PR, journalists, spin doctors etc), but in real life not so much. YouTube is awash with the Prince Andrew stuff still and it isn't going away, no matter how much they want it to.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 12/01/2020 10:26

I think the RF are delighted with H&M. What better way to deflect from the PA debacle?

TheMustressMhor · 12/01/2020 10:27

@Needmorecaffine

Sorry - you're right.

Big Meeting is tomorrow.

MrsJoshNavidi · 12/01/2020 10:27

Has anyone asked Paul Burrell for his expert opinion on all this?

mindproject · 12/01/2020 10:28

TheGirlFromStoryville - exactly my point. The timing of it all seems a little too convenient. Look over here people, quick look, look.

Sheeple

MarshaBradyo · 12/01/2020 10:28

Big meeting is interesting. I had that inner gulp feeling when you get summonsed at work, on their behalf.

HelloIsitXmasTreeYoureLookingF · 12/01/2020 10:30

We'll just have to wait and see what is officially agreed. Too much speculation flying around.

PinkiOcelot · 12/01/2020 10:31

@MrsJoshNavidi 😂

Powergower · 12/01/2020 10:34

I'm not a rf fan, but ffs the level of press vitriol rf vitriol for Megan in contrast to how pa was treated is making me feel sorry for her. It's so bloody transparent the rf are frothing with glee that pa is finally off the hook.

mindproject · 12/01/2020 10:35

Except PA isn't off the hook.

PinkiOcelot · 12/01/2020 10:35

I think they should just let them go. Make sure they pay everything back to the taxpayers then bugger off. Like a normal man in the street. No protection detail paid for by the taxpayers, nothing. Just go. We’re sick of this now.
Instead of a little dog with a bow on its head, she can keep his balls in her bag. Just sick of hearing about it now!

Wheresthebeach · 12/01/2020 10:36

I think CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook post at the end of the last thread is spot on.

It's a real shame and the reason people are so het up is that H&M or so insanely privileged yet spend their time complaining about being hard done by. Now they want to cash in on being Royal without the hard bits.

The shattering, of what once appears to have been, a close family is always a really sad event. Done publicly, and with such blinding disregard for the impact on the members of the RF, not to mention the impact on the institution, screams selfish beyond belief.

The simple truth is if you want fame, then there is a hellish price to pay. Fame and wealth being two very different things, and they are after fame. If they think the North American media is going to be gentler with them they are in for a rude awakening. I'd say Harry looks haunted - pulled in too many directions and unsure of what to do.

MM on the other had has, it seems, a steely determination and an ability to ignore the debris she leaves in her wake.

The clip of Harry pitching MM to Disney is the most cringeworthy thing I've seen, and a peek into what's to come. One thing is for sure, the winner here will be MM, not so sure about Harry.

roisinagusniamh · 12/01/2020 10:36

I think the queen will be relieved to see them go but has to save face by putting a few conditions in place.

GladAllOver · 12/01/2020 10:37

Yawn

GoFiguire · 12/01/2020 10:38

Prince Philip will die in the next 4 years and Meghan will get the blame for it Hmm

TheMustressMhor · 12/01/2020 10:38

One thing is for sure, the winner here will be MM, not so sure about Harry.

Quite right IMO.

What better way to deflect from the PA debacle

They may think that, but the British public is actually capable of thinking about more than one thing at a time. There's no way that the PA thing has gone away completely. It's just that nothing major is happening at the moment. It will come back and it will complete his downfall.

LaMarschallin · 12/01/2020 10:41

It's interesting that the clip of Harry pitching Meghan's voiceover skills to the head of Disney has only now been shown.

Obviously it was in the hands of the press already. If they were determined to be vitriolic about her at any cost, why wasn't it shown the day after it happened?

Maybe the press have pulled their punches (for whatever reason) in the past.

ElspethFlashman · 12/01/2020 10:42

Had anyone said at the time of the wedding: 'PH will be alienated from his family and gone from the UK in just over a year', they would have been shouted down and accused of being racist and the new buzz word 'hating'

Yet here we are. No one could have imagined it would be this quick. But apparently it's still just people hating or the RF fault, or the press' fault or the racist people of Britains fault and nothing to actually do withthem

👏👏👏👏👏

roisinagusniamh · 12/01/2020 10:42

Remember Harry saying "Meghan will have the family she never had" in an interview shortly after their engagement?
He will begin to resent/blame her for taking him away from his family soon.

LotteLupin · 12/01/2020 10:43

Brotherly love was right. The aim is to trade off the title and fame, while living far away from the Great Unwashed.

hopeishere · 12/01/2020 10:43

Yeah. Can't see him being comfortable on the celeb circus/ circuit.

What's the odds she presents an Oscar this year Wink

ElspethFlashman · 12/01/2020 10:44

And someone made the important point that her Disney paycheck was donated to charity because it has to be at the moment.

After they hammer out a deal, she will not be obliged to give her paycheck to charity.

That's the whole point!

So let's not make it too altruistic that she donated it now. She can't cash personal cheques at the moment, that's all.
