The Royal ‘resignation’ was masterminded by the Queen

to take the attention away from the fact they probably have a sex offender in the family I.e. Prince Andrew. Who’s with me??
The timing is very convenient, and the royal household/ mandarins are certainly making a lot more fuss about this than they did about Prince Andrews friendship with a pedophile...
I think Harry is taking one for the team.

Yes I realise that sounds pretentious. Someone I know was involved till recently in a professional capacity and now works in a similarly sensitive role elsewhere. I was going to post a lengthy explanation but I don't have amazing privileged info and wouldn't want to out them. I just know that PR advice was not being taken and there was a growing siege mentality and paranoia in the Sussex's household.

wanderings · 10/01/2020 07:37

I thought the Queen died ages ago, and the authorities have been pretending she's alive, until a convenient moment, which has not occurred yet.

Ditto the Queen Mother (they had to have her reach 100), and I'm sure Bin Laden was assassinated long before the news told us so.

Whatsitthingy · 10/01/2020 07:38

I bet she didn’t even tell the rest of the ‘firm’ either, so that they could do the properly ‘strained’ faces with out having to play act.

Wandering - you might. Men in to all Erving there with the Queen mum, we barely saw her towards the end.

I like those caramel creme eggs. Very nice.
However, i have just had some toast with some whisky infused marmalade on it. Which was also very nice.

Whatsitthingy · 10/01/2020 07:43

Although I think that’s deffo the Queen and she’s fine. Wasn’t Harry her fav grand kid.

OP, how do you account for the sequence of events which insiders at the Palace have released to journalists? Which are nothing like your fantasy?

LakieLady · 10/01/2020 07:54

Actually, it was masterminded by Boris Johnson to detract attention from all the callous and dastardly things they're about to do.

Voting against the right of child refugees to be reunited with their parents is just the start.

Whatsitthingy · 10/01/2020 07:58

‘Insiders’ mmm...

OP posts:
Scarsthelot · 10/01/2020 08:00

No it's not.

If it was, it would have happened before christmas. Before Andrew did that disastrous (for them) interview.

DogInATent · 10/01/2020 08:02

The duck flew backwards this morning and the milk turned in the pail.
It's a bad wind that blows sideways.

JanusLooksBothWays · 10/01/2020 08:13

Hoopla? Eh? What are you burbling on about, OP?

Devereux1 · 10/01/2020 08:16

‘Insiders’ mmm...

Yes? Where do you get your information from then OP?

Grin Mumsnet is priceless. Beyond pearls!! Grin

Actually, David Ike sometimes tells it like it is. What do you think?

Equanimitas · 10/01/2020 08:30

All of this "plot" is based on a perception of society as it was around 30 years ago, when essentially the only mass communication avenues available were newspapers, TV and radio. Therefore if you had something embarrassing you wanted to cover up, you could indeed do it by distracting the papers/broadcasters with something else so that the embarrassing news would slip right down the agenda.

The problem, of course, is that we are not in 1990. We are in an age of social media. It's hopeless to imagine we are all going to forget about Andrew in our fascination with Harry, because all developments can spread like lightning via Twitter, FB etc, and because we can all google the background information so easily. Moreover, the Harry story will all die down once they've tied up the arrangements, whereas the Epstein story is going to run and run.

Plus, of course, the papers etc were having such a lovely time with all the crap about Meghan. If she goes out of the spotlight, who's left to fill the gap? Step forward, Prince Andrew.

I Just finished a Nutella jar -- ahhhh. Must hide it from the teenagers who will be outraged I didn't share. Nutella conspiracies are big in this house.

@chuffit pushes the tea trolley through the door and adjusts her hat.
Tea?Coffee? Mince pies? Do you want milk and sugar luv?

Omashu · 10/01/2020 09:09

@Whatsitthingy I don’t care about it all but you’re probably right!

GetOffYourHighHorse · 10/01/2020 09:22

'The other bazillion threads are --> Or you could just get a life This isn't even funny any more'

All the 'bazillion threads' that you seem to comment on @hobnobsaremyfave. Why on earth do you keep opening them, the clue is in the title.

I'd suggest you don't watch any TV (it's on all channels! can you believe it) or look at the papers either because it's all over there too. You may need to stock up on smelling salts.

BiddyPop · 10/01/2020 09:28

I think it is Boris' doing to get people talking about things other than Brexit....

Magpiesshinynest · 10/01/2020 09:49

Meghan’s pit stain

Whatsitthingy · 10/01/2020 10:22

Boris hasn’t got the brains for this, it the Godmother, I’m telling you.
Or maybe it’s about to come out that Harry isn’t actually a Royal at all but the illegitimate son of Hewitt and the palace have decided to get ahead of it and have him out now = less fallout later when the DNA results are revealed in a tabloid.
