Does anyone agree with the continuing claims particularly amongst a lot of celebrities claim that the uk is fundamentally racist particularly in relations to Meghan-Markle.

I think as a country she was welcomed with open arms.

I have a carribean family next door to me. They've not experienced any sort of racism.

This is from earlier in the thread.

LMAO.

ghostyslovesheets · 09/01/2020 08:08

how nice of you to 'tolerate' people of other races Hmm

Of course the UK is racist - it's built into every structure - if people don't think it is - check your fucking privilege - just because it doesn't impact on YOU doesn't mean it's not there

Pan2 · 09/01/2020 08:10

Look at what newspapers sell best and just how VERY CLEARLY racist they ALL are?

We have a nasty little racist as a Prime Minister.

Fuck me, I thought we were over this denial.

skippy67 · 09/01/2020 08:10

Ah yes, the "black friend" (always just the one), who's never experienced racism. Which must mean, it doesn't exist...

AraGrand · 09/01/2020 08:11

It's her character I'm describing - not the colour of her skin. To me she seems full of herself and entirely devoid of humility or grace. She works behind the scenes, manipulating Harry, the media etc. She never says what she actually thinks, but her actions behind the scenes suggest she thinks she is above the royal family.

Being Irish, I don't defer to the royal family either. Some would argue that I should loathe them. However, I find them fascinating animals to observe.

And here is my mixed race dd just in case you're not convinced that I could give two shites what colour or of what origin Meghan is.

IamTheAntiChrist · 09/01/2020 08:11

"I have a caribbean family next door to me. They've not experienced any sort of racism". And you'd know this how, exactly?

Do you have a gay friend as well? Hmm. Because it means that you can't be homophobic if you do.

Tartyflette · 09/01/2020 08:13

Midge I'd like to take the test but there doesn't seem to be a way to proceed from the preliminary page the link takes you to.

"Its her character Im describing"

Nope you are making assumptions about her, about a person you have never met, and one of those assumptions is about her needing to know her place.

floatygoat · 09/01/2020 08:14

Racism is a fact of life for any minority race in any country.

Butchyrestingface · 09/01/2020 08:14

Well done on breaking every code and rule of data protection on your own child AraGrand - if indeed that is your own dd -

she never says what she actually thinks

Her actions behind the scenes suggest she thinks she's above the royal family

Do you not get how unhinged you sound? you come over as someone who is nastily, weirdly obsessed. You sound like that woman who hounded the McCann parents for years over Twitter etc and was finally exposed by the press. You are seriously a bit stalkerish, frankly.

And FGS delete that picture. Hmm

AraGrand · 09/01/2020 08:19

The picture was reported as soon as I had finished posting it. But I'm fucking sick to the back teeth of being called racist because I don't fucking like Meghan fucking Markle!

SimonJT · 09/01/2020 08:20

Your poor daughter, I hope you don’t use racist terms against her as well. Surely MN will delete the post to protect a childs dignity.

AraGrand · 09/01/2020 08:20

I know how unhinged you sound alright.....

SimonJT · 09/01/2020 08:20

You’re being called racist because you insist on using racist terms.

skippy67 · 09/01/2020 08:20

You really should delete that photo.

Butchyrestingface · 09/01/2020 08:21

And here is my mixed race dd just in case you're not convinced that I could give two shites what colour or of what origin Meghan is

An anonymous poster posting a picture of a mixed race child on an internet forum proves neither that

  • that this is your child
  • that you are not racist

It does tend to indicate that you don’t have the brains you were born with to do such a thing though.

missyoumuch · 09/01/2020 08:21

Having a mixed race child doesn’t mean you can’t be racist.

I’ve experienced racism from white women married to black men.

AraGrand · 09/01/2020 08:21

I have used no racist terms. I might start using terms referring to idiocy soon however....

SimonJT · 09/01/2020 08:22

People (including me) have clearly explained the racist term you used, you then continued using it. Don’t play the fool.

AraGrand · 09/01/2020 08:22

@missyoumuch

Bless. It's clear from this thread that you've had a very hard life.

Tellmetruth4 · 09/01/2020 08:23

The UK is racist and classist and many people are in wilful denial happily pointing fingers at countries like America for being racist, however, they’ve managed to have a black president. Their racism is overt so you know where you are. Our racism and classism is entwined and covert.

Some of the women on here claiming racism no longer exists would be up in arms if it was said sexism no longer exists and there was no gender pay gap for example.

All of our education is geared towards English superiority and people internalise this and think they’re better than everyone else’s in the world. We will find out the cold hard truth in our post Brexit future. The English are not exceptional. Our ingrained racism will be our downfall.

Whatisthisfuckery · 09/01/2020 08:23

Well, I’m white, so racism wouldn’t be aimed at me, so I’m not qualified to answer the OP.

I will however say that my parents are both racist as fuck, if not to peoples’ faces, although I bet it’s apparent in the way they treat people. I also frequently hear racist comments on the bus, so I personally can’t imagine how Britain can’t be racist.

I can tell PPs first hand however that homophobia is alive and well. Not most people, but it’s certainly a regular feature of my life, so if homophobia is still an issue then I can’t possibly see how racism can’t be.

I’m really not sure what country PPs are living in if they think racism isn’t still a problem. I live in a supposedly very enlightened city full of the most learned people, and I still hear racist comments almost daily, and that’s just the overt stuff as I said, because it’s not aimed at me. I find it staggering that people presume to tell bame people and people who aren’t British that racism isn’t a thing, even when they’re repeatedly told it is. I guess that could be considered racist in itself.
