Trump scares the hell out of me. Is there going to be WWIII?

I have a lot of admiration for Mr Trump and I think we could do with someone like him over here. He has managed to do something that his two predecessors didn't even attempt. He has killed two terrorist leaders. I don't think there will be a WW3.

The fuck I just read?

SpaghettiSharon · 05/01/2020 22:17

@Freddiefox, yes of course, because women don't start wars. Except Thatcher.

A decent leader would suffice. Their sex is irrelevant.

tenredthings · 05/01/2020 22:17

$ 80 million bounty has been offered by Iran for Trump's head ! No one in their right minds will now want to be anywhere near him or his Trump brand.

HeresMe · 05/01/2020 22:18

The Iranian who was killed was behind lots of attacks, good riddance.

Ww3 grow up, we have been a hell of a lot closer in the past, and this is no where near to a world war a skirmish if that.

CherryPavlova · 05/01/2020 22:18

There are 5,000 US troops in Iraq. There are 1, 400 UK troops approximately. Additional U.K. service personnel and shops are being deployed to the Gulf. More U.K. service personnel are on 48 hours notice.
I don’t think they’ll be a world war but could be a third Gulf war. It depends on the views of other Arab states. Iran can’t afford an organised war alone, fortunately. That won’t stop an increase in individuals seeking reprisals or a localised response towards U.K. and US shipping.

I'd like to hope you're joking, but I know you're probably not.We do have someone like him just slightly less dangerous, they're both completely dishonest. Dumb and dumber (though Trump dumber of course).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2020 22:20

Trump is trying to detract from his impeachment, look like the strong man and get re-elected.
I don’t think there will be a WW3 but he is a c*

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 05/01/2020 22:20

Trump is an ape desperate to prove he's the alpha by flinging shit around. It's that simple.

There's going to be a lot of troops down there. Japan was due to send a load down. None of the US traditional allies want a war though, unless Britain is stupid enough to play lapdog again.

SpaghettiSharon · 05/01/2020 22:20

@Pinkyyy, you're joking right? You must be. No one who can string a sentence together "admires" Trump.

chomalungma · 05/01/2020 22:21

So what happens? Iran retaliates, Trump retaliates, followed by more and more skirmishes.

What's the end game?

If there is one thing that history has taught us is that people in a country can unite when under attack by others. Even if there are internal disagreements,. they can unite together.

What does Trump see as the end game?

I’m fairly certain osama was killed on obama’s watch.

Pinkyyy · 05/01/2020 22:23

@SpaghettiSharon obviously that's untrue. I assume he didn't vote himself into power.

BackInTime · 05/01/2020 22:24

Some people are calling for Twitter to suspend Trump’s account as it is openly inciting violence and breaching codes of conduct.

I think there's every chance of war if Trump continues with the rhetoric and threats. Twitter needs to do the world a favour and shut him up.

Pinkyyy · 05/01/2020 22:25

I was referring to the fact that none of them had killed solemani, I'm aware on Bin Laden.

HeresMe · 05/01/2020 22:26

Except it wouldnt be a world war, for all the talk China and Russia wouldn't get heavily involved.

Iran hasnt got nuclear weapons and even if small.chance they have (mossad would know). So there isn't a lot to fear, I'd imagine a lot in Iran do want freeing these days with recent protests.

There is some people on here see end of world where ever they look.

Abraid2 · 05/01/2020 22:26

Oh, OK.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 22:27

I’m wondering this too. It doesn’t sit right that it’s about winning again, because he was in track for that. So now if Americans lose their lives in a foreign war, that’s not going to help unless he’s planning to “prove” that Iran were about to destroy America in 20 mins.

But Dump might not have learned that.

Alternatively, he just has the power to start a war so he did. I’m afraid I think this is most likely. My boss used to tell me the US system was set up so he couldn’t do that, but I’ve never believed her!

ImGoingToBangYourHeadsTogether · 05/01/2020 22:27

Trouble is people have been calling for Twitter to suspend Trump since he first started using it. He's always been in breach of their use policy. They have not exercised that option yet.

madeyemoodysmum · 05/01/2020 22:27

A world war over this issue. No

Another gulf war possible

A world war over climate change. Inevitable but I hope not in my or my kids lifetimes Sad

Leaannb · 05/01/2020 22:28

@Friedascarload...The day after Bush declared war UK protestors decided to protest the war outside of the gates of Lakenheath,Feltwell and Mildenhall. When our American students were leaving their schools and the bases to go home protestors decided the best way to protest was throw rocks at school busses and people in cars. Someone threw a brick through my windscreen and glass cut my son 7 inches across his forehead. They ended up sending security forces and the local cops to break it up. After that the bases were guarded by humvees and machine guns. American service members and familieshad horrible experiences after war was declared. Oir homes were broken into, cars were stolen, cars were spray painted and vandalized.I personally was refused service in Thetfords High Street. Families were brought in by the Base to tell is not to talk to people, not to let anyone know we were american, watched how we dress etc to protect us from UK citizens. It lasted about 6 weeks and then died down. Then about a year later one of our pilots killed one of the Queens horses by breaking the sound barrierand the protests started up again Someone tried to burn down my friend's home over that. That was in Newmarket. Her husband wasn't even a pilot. He was a nirse and in Qutar at the time

GirlsInGreen · 05/01/2020 22:29

WW3 as in nuclear weapons? Yes - I think at some point that will be
inevitable - it's unimaginable to me that a growing number of states now openly or otherwise have access to these weapons and at some point wouldn't use them.

But I think this current situation will be a continuance of the proxy wars played out in the middle east the last few years. I'm praying a direct hot war doesn't happen, absolutely disastrous for us all.

Creepster · 05/01/2020 22:29

WWIII has been going on for 17 years. We just didn't recognize what we were seeing.

ACautionaryTale · 05/01/2020 22:30

Trump is up for re-election- this is to distract from impeachment

Clinton did almost the same 20 years ago

I'm not trump fan (have to turn the TV off or I want to thump it) but this won't go to WW3 - maybe another gulf war but I doubt it

WW3 in my life time (I'm 43) - probably

bettybattenburg · 05/01/2020 22:30

Imagine the classrooms in 2080 learning the build up to ww3 through twitter..

I think that's highly, highly unlikely.

RhinoskinhaveI · 05/01/2020 22:31

I have a lot of admiration for Mr Trump
that's a very low bar for admiration
