Women and fox hunting

Name change for this but regular poster.
Seeing all the fox hunting activity on social media over Christmas and New Year mainly the shocking incident in North Yorkshire where a hunt supporter repeatedly hit the hunt protesters car with a dead fox.
There was a few women and young children in the group supporting the hunt, why? I don't understand how anyone can support chasing terrified animals and letting dogs tear them apart. Even if they dont take part themselves they must know if their partners go out 'lamping' or badger baiting. How they can live with themselves.
AIBU to think these women are brainwashed by their partners?

Clientlistqueen no absolutely there are people out there who love their horse and sorry if I lumped you in with those I know - these people own many horses (too many) and don't seem to care what happens to them - selling them on to anyone and even to be slaughtered when they are too old to compete !

If you own and love a horse surely you should have time to enjoy riding it and not want to involve it in activities where it might get injured ?

Trewser · 04/01/2020 17:44

What an idiotic OP. My female friend hunts regularly. She's never seen a fox killed and that's not why she or her kids do it. Riding across the countryside at crazy speeds jumping hedges is her extreme sport.

Mrsjayy · 04/01/2020 17:44

Hunting existsbecause of a need to gather wear red coats and blow ones trumpet it is a sport nothing else. If foxes needed culled there wouldn't be such a "ceremony" about it would there ?

Trewser · 04/01/2020 17:44

Oh and her horses love it. Drag hunting is perfectly legal.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 17:45

The horn controls the hounds, its very clever.

GothMummy · 04/01/2020 17:45

As all hunting with dogs is illegal now, any hunts you see will be following a pre laid artificial scent trail. No foxes harmed.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 17:47

One of my dcs has been out hunting. The nearest she came to a fox that day was when she saw one in the garden at night when she was putting the bins out.

Never met any female fox hunters have you OP? In mt experience (having known a fair few through work), by and large they are some of the strongest minded and most independent thinking women you'll ever meet.

BovaryX · 04/01/2020 17:51

one sab had their neck broken a couple of years ago! When you google for hunt supporter guilty of assault the list of hits is exceedingly long

Well said. He was an ex cop. His attackers weren’t convicted

cavabiensepasser · 04/01/2020 17:52

I don't support hunting, and I do not ride, but I swear if a sab tried to hurt/put their hands on my horse (or me), I WOULD whip the skin off their back.

parkrunhun · 04/01/2020 17:55

Can anyone explain why you need the dogs at all ? Can you not just set out a cross country ride and follow a lead rider ?

Unfortunately while dogs continue to be used in this way there will always be a risk to wild life - not just foxes but lambs and even cats and small dogs ! For those of us who find this abhorrent even this small risk is unacceptable!

Trewser · 04/01/2020 17:56

The hunt sabs are horrible nasty bastards who enjoy terrorising little kids on ponies - jumping out of bushes in front of the kids while wearing black face coverings,

shining lasers into the ponies eyes. Arseholes. The hunt staff can be aggressive back and both end up as bad as each other, but seeing as the hunt is perfectly legally allowed to meet and ride arounf the countryside the sabs should back off. And don't get me started on the female sabs filming a llittle kid on a pony and doing that high pitched angry cry when she sees the child kick the pony to move off. Pathetic.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 17:58

I'm not being drawn into an argument on whether or not you are an idiot, because having read back through your shouty responses, the "idiot" is apparent

Ha ha ha........ sure love Grin

Trewser · 04/01/2020 17:58

Can you not just set out a cross country ride and follow a lead rider ? some hunts follow people.

Following hounds is how its done. It's extremely rare for a hound to kill any animal by accident.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 18:00

@trewser the majority of hunts in the U.K. aren’t drag hunts. There’s a few which are and which abide by the rules, so that’s great if your friend rides with one of those. I’d wager a guess that those hunts aren’t bothered by sabs. There’s certainly a hunt near me which uses blood hounds, not fox hounds. Does not chase foxes and the sabs leave it well alone.

parkrunhun · 04/01/2020 18:01

21 foxes killed by hunts in England in 2019 !

How it's done sounds awfully like the 'it's tradition" argument

Female circumcision is also a tradition !

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:02

@Gothmummy

Google is your friend. I suggest you go and educate yourself about 'illegal' hunting Hmm

It's extremely rare for a hound to kill any animal by accident

Oh my days.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:02

All hunts follow a pre laid trail.

21 foxes is fuck all. There are hundreds of hunts meeting at least 3 times a week.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:02

Probably 21 foxes a week killed on the roads! Ban cars!

parkrunhun · 04/01/2020 18:03

In my opinion 1 fox killed in this manner is too many !o

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:04

What is the trail scent they use @Trewser

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:04

God knows but it stinks.

parkrunhun · 04/01/2020 18:05

People are killed by cars too !

Perhaps a new form of euthanasia we should offer people to be chased for miles and then ripped apart or dug out of their homes and fed to hounds ?

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:05

All hunts follow a pre laid trail.

Absolute bullshit and you know it. Stop treating people like idiots
