Women and fox hunting

greentreefrog · 04/01/2020 09:59

Name change for this but regular poster.
Seeing all the fox hunting activity on social media over Christmas and New Year mainly the shocking incident in North Yorkshire where a hunt supporter repeatedly hit the hunt protesters car with a dead fox.
There was a few women and young children in the group supporting the hunt, why? I don't understand how anyone can support chasing terrified animals and letting dogs tear them apart. Even if they dont take part themselves they must know if their partners go out 'lamping' or badger baiting. How they can live with themselves.
AIBU to think these women are brainwashed by their partners?

They are indeed lowlife when they risk serious injury to horse, dogs - or people. If a hunt is illegal, call the police and let them deal with it

Yes of course it is the sabs who are a menace Hmm

Leflic · 04/01/2020 13:50

What are you on about?
Fox hunting is banned. Plenty of people with horses like to follow the hounds because hounds and horses like to run.

Foxes still are killed as part of the management of the countryside. It’s not enjoying the brutal death of anything. Otherwise people would be out watching cats rip the small birds and mice apart for laughs. It’s like saying David Attenborough is a monster for filming lions catching a gazelle.

Leflic · 04/01/2020 13:53

Funny how Sabs always feel the need to wear masks and lots of black.

I don’t know any Sabs that actually contribute anything to either the wildlife or the environment of the countryside either.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 13:54

Those 'dangerou's sabs Grin

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 13:54

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 13:55

Indeed...almost as hilarious as hunt support who do the same.

BonnyConnie · 04/01/2020 13:57

I’m not in support of fox hunting but I’m not surprised that some women struggle to feel empathy for the animals when there are women out there who have their own children circumcised. Not everyone is so thoughtful. I wouldn’t blame their husbands for it, it’s a bit of a leap.

heartsonacake · 04/01/2020 13:59

What’s being a woman got to do with anything? Crown Confused

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 14:01

There’s plenty of women who hunt as well. The master of a nearby hunt is female, a vile, nasty woman who hit some sabs with her whip the other day.

Streamside · 04/01/2020 14:07

I think your post illustrates the tendency for us to think that women provide some sort of moral compass. Unfortunately, I don't think they do and anyone who hunts is,in my opinion, purely evil. The use of the word vermin is bizarre in that it's use seems to excuse savagery. Times are changing and I really believe that hunting won't continue for much longer.
I've also been heartened by the young people in our family making it clear that they won't support businesses who are involved in hunting. My daughter has decided she can't return to her beautician because she displayed her hunting photos at Christmas. We never go to any bars or hotels who provide food or drinks for hunts.

Butchyrestingface · 04/01/2020 14:10

The existence of Katie Hopkins is a useful corrective.

ClientListQueen · 04/01/2020 14:11

I think you need to define between "anyone who hunts is evil" to "anyone who hunts foxes to kill is evil"
As another posted explained up thread, there are different types. I've been on a hunt ride and just the mention of that has people up in arms. A ride - a load of us, going for a ride. No hounds, no hunting, no animals
I'm not going to say people who hunt are evil because then you're including drag hunting etc which is ridiculous

parkrunhun · 04/01/2020 14:11

It's more women than men who are into hunting where I live and I am ashamed to say in my in-laws family ! I would go further to say that these women who keep horses only do so to show off in front of their snobby friends. They show no love for the animals and are constantly looking to add to their collection even though they have more horses than they can look after ! Poor horses are dragged from one end of the country to the other in little horse lorries, brought out to be whipped round a course by their fat rider and then straight back in the horse lorry. All so the horaay henriettas can look down their noses at everyone around them .

I have never met a nastier more condescending bunch of people than the horsey lot - they literally don't give a shit ! So it's no surprise to me that they don't care about a fox getting mauled (deliberately or accidentally Hmm) just so they have an excuse to dress up and drink port at 11!

Sorry but ffs they irritate me beyond all belief and nothing I say or do will ever change their minds !

aroundtheworldyet · 04/01/2020 14:12

WTAF did I just read.

NameChangeNugget · 04/01/2020 14:13

What a ridiculous post.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 04/01/2020 14:15

WTF's being a woman got to do with it?!*
Because they have minds of their own and some want to support the hunt, they're not just blindly following their man? Hmm Biscuit
I don't understand how anyone can support chasing terrified animals and letting dogs tear them apart
Neither do I but that doesn't mean I don't understand that other women might shock horror feel differently to me.
Biscuit

ClientListQueen · 04/01/2020 14:17

Parkrun - are you just linking to hunting then or all people who have horses or those who compete? Because I absolutely adored my horse, more than I will anything else in my lifetime
It's not really fair to lump a small group of people in as "the horsey lot"
I physically collapsed when my horse died, was given sleeping tablets by my GP, off work and cried so much that I thought my eyes were going to explode

Hustssleeping · 04/01/2020 14:17

What a strange view? Is there a reason you think opinions that you don't agree with are only held by men- and any woman that disagrees with you is brainwashed?

PhilSwagielka · 04/01/2020 14:26

YABU, there are plenty of women who support it, sadly. It's got nothing to do with brainwashing, it's because they live in the country and claim it keeps the numbers down. I've got a female friend who's pro hunting. I don't argue about it with her because what's the point? I hate it and I'm supposed to be anti anyway on religious grounds. I get hunting for food or clothes but not hunting for sport.

And no, I don't eat meat.

Pedallleur · 04/01/2020 14:28

It's just a case of the unspeakable regardless of sex and the uneatable

Dadof21 · 04/01/2020 14:31

Possibly the most Sensible reply I have EVER seen on this rather EMOTIVE subject.
But one thing I do not agree with is the Liberal use of a word which is universally regarded as a rather disgusting term for a woman's vagina!! And quite honestly on a site which can be frequented by Women?? I am sorry but the posters using the word should be dealt with accordingly by the site administrators!
(My apologies to OP. but my comment Is genuine I assure you.) 😊.

AuntieStella · 04/01/2020 14:34

What? You do realise you're on the site with the strap line 'the one with the swearing' don't you? MNHQ have yet to make the word 'cunt' compulsory, but it is definitely permitted here. So nothing to be dealt with.

And plenty of other sites to choose from for those who want no swearing

Butchyrestingface · 04/01/2020 14:36

Look at the user name.

Nuff said.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 04/01/2020 14:45

Hunting is a feminist issue

Rosehip10 · 04/01/2020 14:50

Most involved in fox hunting think they are above the law.
