Women and fox hunting

Name change for this but regular poster.
Seeing all the fox hunting activity on social media over Christmas and New Year mainly the shocking incident in North Yorkshire where a hunt supporter repeatedly hit the hunt protesters car with a dead fox.
There was a few women and young children in the group supporting the hunt, why? I don't understand how anyone can support chasing terrified animals and letting dogs tear them apart. Even if they dont take part themselves they must know if their partners go out 'lamping' or badger baiting. How they can live with themselves.
AIBU to think these women are brainwashed by their partners?

That makes sense that they’re gettting paid for it. The hunt supporter hitting the car with the dead fox the other day didn’t look like a typical fox hunting type with his hands covered in some very unclassy tattoos. Guess he’s just a hired thug,

Class warfare. Utterly ridiculous fantasy of hunters. It's just money. That's the only reason it carries on.

june2007 · 04/01/2020 21:59

It,s not to do with class, those working in Kennels are not all middle class. Those hunting don,t all live on farms in the country.

FreedomfromPE · 04/01/2020 22:00

Exactly. It's part of the sell. No one's doing it for fun. It's a business. They are public limited companies.

FreedomfromPE · 04/01/2020 22:06

And should be held accountable as such but that doesn't happen because for some reason they are treated as a bunch of friends just out for a nice time in the countryside.

From my experience of the hunting world, many of those into hunting haven’t seen much of the world and live in a backward kind of world and most of the rest are social climbers/new money types.

This is from someone who grew up on a farm, knows foxes kill things if you don’t fence them out, and has worked with horses, including on hunt yards, when younger. I’ve been drag hunting regularly when younger and occasionally fox hunting when working in the hunt yard (because the man I worked for couldn’t control his horses and needed me to go with him sometimes. I hated it).

@VivaLeBeaver

Thanks. You are making assumptions about me without even knowing my name. Charming 😁

@BovaryX

repeating my observation that the sabs are getting off on exactly the same urge that they profess to be fighting.

There was a psychiatrist called Robin Skinner who, in talking about projection, actually used 'animal rights' behaviour to illustrate projection is.

"Psychological projection
Psychological projection is a defence mechanism in which the human ego defends itself against unconscious impulses or qualities by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others. "

ScreamingLadySutch · 06/01/2020 19:09

@Honeyroar good observation, you are not wrong!

Why did you hate drag hunting though? Was it the speed?

Honeyroar · 06/01/2020 19:20

No I didn’t hate drag hunting, I used to love it, I meant the few occasions I went fox hunting. My local drag hunt merged with a fox hunt after the ban and hasn’t got the best reputation for avoiding killing foxes, so I’d never go nowadays, plus my horse is too opinionated and doesn’t like being behind!

ScreamingLadySutch · 07/01/2020 20:01

Yes, sorry, I realised that is what you said when I read it again.

Tbh I think all hunts should just drag. I find drag hunts are faster and more fun.

Bow to the inevitable and stop pitting yourselves against the British public. British people are decent and if they say they don't like it, don't do it.

The women will have made up their own minds to be there.
It’s a disgusting’ sport’ whoever does it.
Also agree with PPs saying that how can women who don’t hunt be partners with a man who does
I can’t imagine ever wanting to be with a guy who is cruel to animals and thinks it’s fun to see them ripped apart.
