Women and fox hunting

Name change for this but regular poster.
Seeing all the fox hunting activity on social media over Christmas and New Year mainly the shocking incident in North Yorkshire where a hunt supporter repeatedly hit the hunt protesters car with a dead fox.
There was a few women and young children in the group supporting the hunt, why? I don't understand how anyone can support chasing terrified animals and letting dogs tear them apart. Even if they dont take part themselves they must know if their partners go out 'lamping' or badger baiting. How they can live with themselves.
AIBU to think these women are brainwashed by their partners?

Totally agree with @WhatshouldIdo123 that a lot/most hunts are involved in breeding foxes to some extent to ensure a good supply for their sport.

It’s fuck all to do with population control, if it was then why are they keeping foxes in cages and feeding them?

And as for the poster who said modern hounds wouldn’t know how to kill a fox. Well here’s a lovely video showing how the hunts train the dogs to kill foxes. They capture some little fox cubs and throw them to the hounds, who soon get a taste for it.

In my opinion 1 fox killed in this manner is too many

Why? Its quick and efficient. Better than crawling off to die after being clipped with a car, or rotting from gangrene because of a bad shot.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:06

Hunts claim they use fox urine @Trewser... were you aware of this?

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:07

It's not bullshit, so don't be an aggressive fucker. You may not like seeing hunts but hunting within the law is completely legal so there's absolutely fuck all you can do about it.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:08

I have no idea what they use!

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 18:08

21 foxes killed by hunts? I’m guessing those are just the ones which have been captured on film and they have to admit to?

Not the ones with no evidence?

Nor will it include the many hundreds which are chased and terrified but manage to get away , often due to the sabs masking the trail or distracting the hounds by sounding a horn. That’s why the sabs continue to go out.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:10

@Trewser I am sure you know who George Adams is...a now retired prominent MFH. Unfortunately for George he posted up a narrative around fox hunting in which he admitted that the death of a fox is painful and probably terrifying for it.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 18:10

I wouldn’t call being chased for a considerable period of time, being exhausted and terrified and then ripped limb from limb a particularly quick way to die. People would be up in arms if farm animals were treated in such a manner before being killed. And if I had to choose between that and being shot I’d take the bullet for sure.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:11

Yeah, the sabs distracted the hounds so that they ran across a busy road last year. Idiots. I know they think they are performing a vital service but they are just getting their kicks in a differnt way to the hunt. Most of them couldnt give a shit about foxes, they just hate 'posh' people.

pinkhousesarebest · 04/01/2020 18:12

but drag hunting or hares. (Also introduced invasive pests)
Glad you think it’s ok to just rip a hare to pieces. I live in south eastern France where it’s commonplace to breed hares in appalling conditions and release them into the wild to be hunted. What place could such a beautiful ( and now unfortunately threatened because of modern farming practices) creature be considered a pest I would love to know?

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:13

Well, because its illegal to chase foxes for any period of time, and because hunt monitors film these things, that isn't actually what happens now, but you just go on telling yourself that.

@Trewser you know as well as we do that fox hunting goes one.

pinkhousesarebest · 04/01/2020 18:14

So encouraging to see the quasi total opposition to this vileness.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 18:14

@trewser you believe the bullshit you’re fed, j feel sorry for you.

There’s a video of that incident on the a14 where the hounds was killed and the sabs were desperately trying to get the hounds away from the road. The hounds however were chasing a fox, that’s the only reason they went onto the road. Obviously if they’d been following a legal trail they wouldn’t have been anywhere near the a14 never mind on it. The hunt lost control of the pack but not due to the sabs, because they’d got scent/sight of a fox.

I suggest you watch the video, there’s no denying what happened.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:15

I have never been hunting in my life! My dc has and didn't see one single fox, ever.

You don't know half as much as you think you do, and it doesn't matter anyway as it's not going to change any time soon.

parkrunhun · 04/01/2020 18:16

Trewser we can never stop all the accidents that occur but as a human race living in the 21st century we can try to stop cruel practices where possible.

As another poster said there is no actual need to cull the fox population at present ! And if that need does arise I would like to think we can come up with a more humane way than any you have mentioned (shooting/trapping/poisoning etc) and certainly won't involve dressing up and socialising !

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:16

I saw the hounds led onto the road with my own eyes. Nowhere near the a14. Of course it wasn't videoed because the sabs fucked up.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:17

I would urge anyone reading the shite posted by this poster to understand that NONE of what she/he is saying it correct

Maybe watch this as a starting point then get out with your local monitors to see what REALLY goes on. It's certainly an eye opener and will make you sick to the stomach as how these arrogant entitled fuckers behave

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 18:17
  • Well, because its illegal to chase foxes for any period of time, and because hunt monitors film these things, that isn't actually what happens now, but you just go on telling yourself that.

Are you being really thick on purpose? There’s loads of video evidence of hunts illegally chasing foxes.

Pardonwhat · 04/01/2020 18:18

I was hit by a hunt sab car as a child. They drove off. Nobody can convince me that they’re anything but professional trouble makers.

Hunt monitors are different and are peaceful - I can see their point of view.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 18:18

Please do come up with a way of culling that doesn't involve actually killing anything.

And why does the dressing up and socialising bother you?

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 18:19

Yeah right. Don’t believe a word of it.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:19

as it's not going to change any time soon

Dont be so sure about that tick tock tick tock

parkrunhun · 04/01/2020 18:20

Because its triumphalism at its very worst ! Taking joy and delight in the face of animal cruelty (and I include cruelty to the horses and hounds in that)
