Women and fox hunting

Name change for this but regular poster.
Seeing all the fox hunting activity on social media over Christmas and New Year mainly the shocking incident in North Yorkshire where a hunt supporter repeatedly hit the hunt protesters car with a dead fox.
There was a few women and young children in the group supporting the hunt, why? I don't understand how anyone can support chasing terrified animals and letting dogs tear them apart. Even if they dont take part themselves they must know if their partners go out 'lamping' or badger baiting. How they can live with themselves.
AIBU to think these women are brainwashed by their partners?

@trewser I’ve posted a lot of videos here of hunts breaking the law. Guess it doesn’t fit your narrative though so you ignore. You can’t possibly watch those videos and say the law isn’t being broken.

BovaryX · 04/01/2020 18:54

Trewser
Tony Blair has a long list of things to regret. I seriously doubt he is troubled by any of them

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 18:57

And because hunting is legal

Hunts have exploited a loop hole and they know it. Hunting is not legal. Trail hunting if done properly is perfectly legal only it isn't been done properly is it. If hunts claim they are trail hunting then that would require significant logistical forward planning and a huge amount of scent to cover the amount of ground they do for the 2/3 days they go out each week. Scent layers would need to be out for at least 4 to 5 hours prior to each day's hunting and would need to be carrying many many litres of scent. Anyone who believes that they do this probably also believe in unicorns.

The delightful hunt community

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 19:05

And the problem is when idiots spout rubbish about hunting being legal when they Know full well That 95% of hunts are breaking the law I don’t tend to believe anything else they say on the subject. They have no credibility at all.

So any little stories about broken glass, etc are just slotted into the fairy tale category along with how hounds never kill foxes and hunts never break the law and riders never attack sabs for no reason.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 19:07

Yep, @WhatshouldIdo123

Sabs were trying to drive away and were illegally blocked in by hunt staff and supporters in 4x4s. On a public highway, refusing to let them drive on it. Then the disgraceful attack with the dead fox. What a sicko. Criminal damage to the car. And where did he get that fox from? Road kill my arse!

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 19:14

Indeed...all these allegations of sabs/monitors doing this that and the other and yet no photos or film footage despite the barrage of hand held cameras and camera phones being held up by hunt members and supporters.... unless someone wants to post some up and then I'll be happy to accept I am wrong.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 19:16

I really think I’m going to start going out with the local sab group.

LakieLady · 04/01/2020 19:18

As all hunting with dogs is illegal now, any hunts you see will be following a pre laid artificial scent trail. No foxes harmed

Why do so many hunts have terriermen on quad bikes, with working terriers in boxes, following the hunt, then?

There's loads of video evidence online that clearly shows that some (many?) totally disregard the law.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 19:21

How genuinely, totally fascinating that you don't believe anything I've said. There must be a psychological name for that.

IME of hunters over many years I take just about everything they say with 10 tonnes of salt. That said, Ive had conversations with hunters where we have engaged in useful discourse around hunting with them often acknowledging the cruelty, lies and falsehoods peddled by the hunt community. These people have something intelligent to say. You @Trewser are not one of those.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 19:29

Why do so many hunts have terriermen on quad bikes, with working terriers in boxes, following the hunt, then?

Indeed. The reasons given for this are on the whole pretty hilarious.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 19:30

I'm laughing because I've seen what I've posted with my own eyes. So you can call me a bullshitter all you like. I will say years ago I had a lot of sympathy with the sabs or at least with the protestors who were peaceful. But having seen what I've seen over the last 5 years I now think 90 percent of actual sabs are maniacs.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 19:35

@Trewser Of course love Hmm

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 19:42

I always wonder why hunts, who bang on and on about 'nobody understanding hunting' are so hell bent on stopping anyone from at least observing what they do. Surely the way to win hearts and minds is to stop pissing and posing about in town centres on Boxing Day and encourage the public to come and watch them 'trail hunting'. But of course we know why that wont happen dont we Grin
I had a few questions to ask the Countryside Alliance a few weeks ago about something they had posted on Twitter. They even invited questions about the post. They refused to in an engage email exchange and would only speak on the phone and even then asked me if I was recording the conversation. How odd.

Trewser · 04/01/2020 19:44

You don't "wonder" anything. You are completely fixed in your ideas to the point where you literally cannot believe anything that doesn't fit your narrrative.

Megan2018 · 04/01/2020 19:48

@WhatshouldIdo123

You would be welcome to attend any day of the week at our hunt. We welcome anyone who is interested. Foxes are only killed within the law. Hunting has changed since the ban, but the ban does allow for foxes to be killed, just in a different way.

Why don’t you actually ask your local hunt?! I’m not out this season as just had a baby otherwise you’d be more than welcome to join me, mounted or foot follower.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 19:51

@Trewser I have yet to see you post anything that would warrant further discussion. It is literally like playing hunting lies bingo with you and I have a full house. I spent many many years following hounds, worked in a hunt and point yard. I know exactly what goes on.

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 19:52

PM me your hunt @Megan2018. If it's local I would be more than happy to follow them for a day

Trewser · 04/01/2020 19:53

So the glass in the trailer is a lie?
The masked sabs shining lasers in ponies eyes is a lie?
The fact that hunting within the law is legal is a lie?

What are you on?

Trewser · 04/01/2020 19:53

And if you really knew anything about hunting you would know that foot followers are encouraged...

backinthebox · 04/01/2020 19:55

What we have atm is this situation:

Some hunt supporter does something awful and illegal and people who oppose hunting tar all hunters with the same brush and label them bloodthirsty thugs (and much worse) when in fact most of them are normal people who would just like to spend a day engaged in legal and not-cruel activity. They are as appalled by what they see the individual doing as any rational person would be. The antis argue that all hunters are like the one disgusting example.

Some anti-hunt activist does something abhorrent and antisocial, and hunt supporters accuse them all of being unwashed ignorant townies (and worse) when in fact most of them are normal people who would just like for there not to be any illegal and cruel activity going on. They are as appalled by what they see the individual doing as any rational person would be. Pro-hunters argue that all antis are like the one back example.

There are extremes on both sides who are playing dirty, but the vast majority sit much closer to the middle and want nothing to do with those (either pro or anti) drawing attention for all the wrong reasons.

Ditchedtheuselesswanker · 04/01/2020 19:55

Yup just love the sabs.. round here hound kicked to death by them, threatening to pull too young girls off their horses. Oh and deliberately driving at my DS... need I go on?

WhatshouldIdo123 · 04/01/2020 19:57

Yup just love the sabs.. round here hound kicked to death by them

Ha ha ha ha ha ha....Oh my days. Course it was love. But yet again zero fucking evidence of it
