I'm so pleased for you, OP!

I have an amazing 'found money' story. I had a job for about 18 months, big money, hated every minute of it, negotiated an out, and took 6 months off to recover (it was bad!)

roll on 8 years, and DH told me some man kept calling from an investment company I did not have any business with. Called about 10 times, DH got more and more annoyed. Finally, to keep DH happy I called the guy back. Turned out he was calling about my pension plan from horrible job - I had $49,000 in the account! I had set up maximum payments for the time I was with them, and they must have done some kind of match or bonus or something. Anyway, $49,000!!!!!! I was beyond elated. That's a huge amount of money towards my pot for retirement.

I am much more careful at watching where my money is these days.

Discovered recently that I could claim up to 60% of the cost of trade union subscriptions for up to 5 years in the past from the Government . Submitted my claim a few weeks back. By my reckoning I think I'm due about £600

Here's the website for anyone interested: www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/professional-fees-and-subscriptions

I was clearing out a big cupboard this year and found a £10 WH Smith voucher and £25 Johnson Lewis vouchers. Both were at least 8-10 years old as they were in a box I'd not opened since ages before I'd moved here over 7 years ago.

I tried them both over the last couple of years and they were both accepted!

So moral of the story if you have old paper gift vouchers they probably never run out.

Something similar happened to my dad, and he got £25k in September. He's going on a tour of America.

I used to stash pocket money in my favourite books as a kid...still find an old (outdated) note in one every now and again.
Well done and Merry Christmas OP!Grin
