Just that, really. It’ s not a Christmas film. Just because it’s set at Christmas does not not make it so.
My husband disagrees with me , counter arguing that in that case, It’s A Wonderful Life isn’t a Christmas film( it most certainly is)!

Completely agree. Setting it at a Christmas party does not make it a Christmas film. It could be set at any time of year. A Christmas film has to have Christmas as a key part of the story.

I have this argument every year, it's not a Xmas film a good film but but not a Xmas one.

I just don’t get it. The shooting , violence doesn’t exactly exude Christmas vibes to me. I can wear a Santa hat and play Christmas tunes in the height of Summer, doesn’t make it Christmas though does it?

What criteria does a movie have to meet in order for it to be considered a Christmas movie?

Can we have a stab at criteria for a ‘Christmas film’?
