To think Die Hard is NOT a Christmas film?

Just that, really. It’ s not a Christmas film. Just because it’s set at Christmas does not not make it so.
My husband disagrees with me , counter arguing that in that case, It’s A Wonderful Life isn’t a Christmas film( it most certainly is)!

So Yippee-ki-ai to you. Grin

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe it was from a site called Dark Bunny Tees, but they went into liquidation... BUT I just saw that he's selling through another company. If you google "die hard Christmas sweatshirt" you should find them. I love the guns on the shoulders!!!!!

8misskitty8 · 16/11/2019 14:22

Dh is excited that this yèar dd1 is old enough to watch die hard this Christmas. It is most definitely a Christmas movie !
Bad Santa is the chrístmas movie for grown ups though.

MadisonAvenue · 16/11/2019 14:22

It is definitely a Christmas film.

Our local Odeon is showing it one night in December so we’ve booked our tickets.

Faffandahalf · 16/11/2019 14:24

Oh god am laughing at this thread. What MN is all about Grin

It’s a wonderful life is a shit film despite the wonder that is Jimmy Stewart.
90% of it is horrible depressing death and bankruptcy and failure and misery. It’s so not festive and heartwarming until about the last 10 min 🤷🏽‍♀️

Whereas Die Hard kicks you in the balls with festive fuzziness courtesy of Bad Germans doing bad things and being eliminated one by one by Good Americans going guns blazing xmas styleee.

Every scene is perfection but anything with Alan Rickman hamming it up is a joy.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 16/11/2019 14:34

Just jumped on to say Deck the Halls is my new favourite film, discovered it last year although it isn't a rent one. I'd def recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it [santa]

nocoolnamesleft · 16/11/2019 14:35

It is the definitive Xmas film.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 16/11/2019 14:35

Recent not rent!

transformandriseup · 16/11/2019 14:38

Just because it’s set at Christmas does not not make it so.

You could say Home Alone could have been set at anytime of the year but it is still definitely a Christmas film.

DieHardISaChristmasFilm · 16/11/2019 14:56

Wrong.

peanutbutterkid · 16/11/2019 15:22

This thread is much making me want to see Die Hard again.
I still associate Bruce Willis with Moonlighting; I need to see a few episodes of that again, too.

Likethebattle · 16/11/2019 15:22

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe I absolutely hate Fairytale of New York too it sounds like a drunk about to throw up for some of it. I want this too and Amazon gave loads of die hard Christmas wear...

To think Die Hard is NOT a Christmas film?
QuantumEntanglement · 16/11/2019 15:32

Bruce Willis I believe has come out and said that it isn't but I'm ignoring that

Bruce Willis says Die Hard is NOT a Christmas Movie - it’s a goddam Bruce Willis Movie so yippee ki yay that motherfuckers!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 16/11/2019 15:39

QueenOfOversharing, thank you! Just dithering over red or green! Grin

Oh god yes. Dh made me sit through it one year. Don’t forget about all the horrible over-acted shouting. I know it’s an old film but Jesus.

Fatted · 16/11/2019 15:47

YABVVVVVVVU. Of course it is a Christmas film!! DH and I watch it every Christmas eve without fail with a bottle of Baileys while we wrap the presents.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/11/2019 15:48

YANBU Die Hard is not a xmas film in any universe or any alternate dimension. It just isn't. The title alone says soAngry

MockersthefeMANist · 16/11/2019 15:54

Are we confusing the Christmas Film Die Hard with that horrible Welsh gangster movie Dai Hard?

I still associate Bruce Willis with Moonlighting; I need to see a few episodes of that again, too.

I recently said to DH that as much as part of me wants to re-watch Moonlighting, I probably never will as I don't want to risk it not ageing well.

siriusblackthemischieviouscat · 16/11/2019 15:57

It's classed asa Christmas film in our house. Its one of my husbands favourites.

Candymay · 16/11/2019 15:58

I didn’t know the Die Hard films were Christmas films. Is that the whole series? Like Home Alone? If not too violent I’ll look out for them for the children. We do love anything Christmas related!

BarbedBloom · 16/11/2019 16:05

YABU

Wattagoose90 · 16/11/2019 16:09

Totally on your side here OP!

By the same logic, if Die Hard is a Christmas film, then Bridget Jones Diary (set at one Christmas then another, with a little inbetweeny bit) would be, too.

TheHive121 · 16/11/2019 16:11

I'm with you, OP. YANBU.

Me and DP have this argument every year.
Die Hard is not a Christmas film. Neither is Lethal Weapon, or Gremlins, or Batman Returns.

QueenOfOversharing · 16/11/2019 16:15

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe I have it in white - just to confuse things further! Grin
