Just that, really. It’ s not a Christmas film. Just because it’s set at Christmas does not not make it so.
My husband disagrees with me , counter arguing that in that case, It’s A Wonderful Life isn’t a Christmas film( it most certainly is)!

Along with the many, stellar points made by previous posters.. his wife is called Holly, that's pretty festive.
Hans Gruber is named after Franz Gruber.. the guy who wrote Silent Night. All these little Christmassy bits are what makes it a christmas film.
It's at a christmas party, on Christmas eve. Christmas music plays in the background. "Ho ho ho now I have a machine gun."
Home Alone apparently qualifies as a Christmas film.. that could have happened at any other time of the year. By the same reasoning that must mean it's not a Christmas film either.

You are being vvvvu. Die Hard 2 (to which I assume you are referring) is most definitely a Christmas film. In fact it's my joint favourite along with Arthur Christmas. I watch both every year!

Yeah it is a Christmas film because it features Christmas decorations, Christmas music, redemption, and also blood, death, swearing, terrorist activity, machine gunfire, explosions and a satisfying woman-punching-an-annoying-man-in-the-face ending
