Just that, really. It’ s not a Christmas film. Just because it’s set at Christmas does not not make it so.
My husband disagrees with me , counter arguing that in that case, It’s A Wonderful Life isn’t a Christmas film( it most certainly is)!

The start of the film is all about John trying to reconnect with his family at Xmas this important time of year which he does by the end of the film thus fitting in with xmas themes of the importance family and overcoming family tensions etc

It’s a Christmas film in our house. My favourite Christmas film is Trading Places which is similarly set around Christmas rather than about it (but Dan Akroyd does dress as Santa at one point)
