For of us sharing a car.
3 hour journey there
3 hour back
She says it will cost £120 petrol
So charging £30 each
Do you think that's correct ?

What does she drive?

sadaboutlife · 07/11/2019 20:37

A Citroen c1

Depends on the car driving 6 hours would be approx a full tank of diesel for me costing approx £75 in total.

clpsmum · 07/11/2019 20:38

It will not cost £120!

Elbeagle · 07/11/2019 20:38

Depends on the car I suppose.
We drove to Norfolk and back recently (3.5 hour drive each way) and used a tank of petrol, so £65ish (large 7 seater).

curlykaren · 07/11/2019 20:39

What kind of car?

Elbeagle · 07/11/2019 20:39

I suppose she could be charging for wear and tear on her car.
Could you drive if it’s an issue?

WaterSheep · 07/11/2019 20:39

I have a Citeron C1, and it takes less than £50 to fill it up. She's making a tidy profit from you all.

LoonyLunaLoo · 07/11/2019 20:41

A Citroen C1 😂 it’ll be £30 MAX! I used to use £40 a week driving for at least 2 hours a day 5 days a week.

WaterSheep · 07/11/2019 20:41

Citroen Not sure what a Citeron is. Grin

Candle1000 · 07/11/2019 20:41

Only if she’s driving a Ferrari!

delilahbucket · 07/11/2019 20:41

Not just petrol, but wear and tear to the car, and the fact that she will be driving for six hours on everyone's behalf. Don't want to pay? Arrange your own travel. Bet it will cost you more than £30.

Loveislandaddict · 07/11/2019 20:41

What’s the distance?

My car costs £50-60 for approx. 300 miles. My dh’s car is more fuel efficient than that.

Lotus90 · 07/11/2019 20:42

Wow, she's ripping you off there for sure. I can't see it being any more than half that

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 07/11/2019 20:42

It does seem quite a lot for a C1. Say no and drive yourself for a lot less.

Mizydoscape · 07/11/2019 20:42

I have a citroen c1. Filling the tank costs around £32. The range indicator on my car says a full tank will do roughly 315 miles. I'm assuming the majority of the journey will be motorway. I think she's charging too much

Elbeagle · 07/11/2019 20:42

Sorry x post. No a Citroen C1 won’t cost anything like that in petrol.

Elbeagle · 07/11/2019 20:43

6 hours driving is pretty hard on her though.

Lordamighty · 07/11/2019 20:43

45p per mile is the HMRC mileage allowance. If you can work out the distance then you can calculate what is fair but if she wants £30pp then you either pay or make other arrangements.

sadaboutlife · 07/11/2019 20:43

It's less than 400 miles in total

OP posts:
custardbear · 07/11/2019 20:44

Ridiculous - I drive a 2 litre BMW diesel and that would be a tank - so about half her cost

mummmy2017 · 07/11/2019 20:44

Get her to pull into a petrol station and top up.... All have some cash in hand, and make sure you have change.
Give her 1/4 each of the sum.
The you can ask her

SheChoseDown · 07/11/2019 20:44

Sounds fine. 15 quid each way.
Is it a 3 hour journey on motorway or country rds? Lots if factors. But sounds fine

AaaaaaarghhhWhereAreMyKeys · 07/11/2019 20:44

It would cost no more than £60 for me

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 07/11/2019 20:44

Definitely overcharging.
