To be fed up of the build up to the Rugby World Cup Final

It's on the news fair enough. But does it need to be so biased. I'm Scottish and I know we're out but bleeeeeeegh

Meh, it's still less fanfare than football.

Love rugby. Showing kids they can play sports and have respect for the referee and officials is so important.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/11/2019 13:19

Yep, that's sour grapes. Get yourself behind England (as my Scottish husband is doing) and cheer along!
(Would a bacon butty help?)

SoupDragon · 01/11/2019 13:20

I don't see a problem (and I'm not a rugby fan)

I suspect it is mostly sour grapes. 😉

misspiggy19 · 01/11/2019 13:21

I don’t think it is as much of a big deal as football. I did watch last weeks match but got bored. Won’t be watching tomorrow

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2019 13:21

I think it's great it's on at 8am and I can just sleep through it. Grin It just looks like fighting over a ball to me.

But hey, we are in the final so we must be good at the fighting.

Wakemeuuuup · 01/11/2019 13:21

I think the build up has been incredibly low key, imagine if it was football.

Of course it needs to be biased. Why on earth would all British stations not give 100% support to a British team in the world cup final.

Btw I'm Irish but as soon as Ireland were beaten I wished England and Wales all the best and now really want England to win

derxa · 01/11/2019 13:22

(Would a bacon butty help?) No I'm too sour. C'mon the Springboks Grin But seriously do we need endless vox pops from wee boys in schools and wacky fans in Japan?

They have just interviewed a pub landlord and some schoolchildren about it on BBC News. They seem pretty excited TBF. Especially the landlord who is going to make £££s in breakfasts.

derxa · 01/11/2019 13:29

Fair enough Sparkling It's just my hatred of BBC sports correspondants. Is there a factory where they churn those bots out?

Diy2019 · 01/11/2019 13:31

I can't wait Grin
I'm English but living in Ireland so heard no hype about the match.
Last week's match was brilliant and reminded me why I love rugby.

SoupDragon · 01/11/2019 13:33

It just looks like fighting over a ball to me.

Having endured many years of schoolboy rugby, that's pretty much it. Although it's fighting over a ball with rules.

Honeyroar · 01/11/2019 13:33

Aw, it's better than the hype for football and at least they're doing well!

AlternativePerspective · 01/11/2019 13:34

Erm, the English are in the final and you’re wondering why the British press appear to be biased? Okayyyyy.

derxa · 01/11/2019 13:35

I'll watch on mute. Wink

Sirzy · 01/11/2019 13:35

I’m a league fan but still looking forward to tomorrow’s game.

Give me that over football any day but if England make the World Cup final the build up would be infinitely more!

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2019 13:36

There does seem to be a spectacular amount of injuries playing Rugby. Every other week there will be one of DS's mates with either a broken collar bone/dislocated something.

The cauliflower ear thing freaks me out but is that a thing of the past now?

TheFaerieQueene · 01/11/2019 13:36

It’s nice to have some upbeat news rather than 24 hour brexshit.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 01/11/2019 13:36

YABVVVVU. Scottish sour grapes. I was cheering on all the home nations, but I know it doesn't work both ways.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/11/2019 13:39

We're having breakfast with the neighbours so we can all watch the game together.

Come on derxa, crack a smile and get in the mood.

TwattingDog · 01/11/2019 13:40

We're having breakfast in bed, TV on, and 2 bottles of chilled champagne ready to drink with our food. Win or lose, we'll be merry!

FuzzyPuffling · 01/11/2019 13:41

(To be fair, I don't care about children singing "Swing Low", but even that is not as bad as some of the football songs that were in the Top 20 in the past.)

derxa · 01/11/2019 13:42

But if Scotland were in the final, Naga Muchetty, Dan whatisface, Ben Shepherd et al wouldn't be blethering on about it and talking about 'us' doing well.

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 01/11/2019 13:43

Yes they would. Well apart from the fact that Naga would only talk about it in reference to herself.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/11/2019 13:43

Anyway, haven't you got some Sottish telly channel all of your own now? Is it on that?

derxa · 01/11/2019 13:44

Come on derxa, crack a smile and get in the mood.
