It's on the news fair enough. But does it need to be so biased. I'm Scottish and I know we're out but bleeeeeeegh

@skarabrae

He’s so smiley 🥰

Kittygirl47 · 02/11/2019 19:15

Or have I spelt it wrong? 😂😂

SkaraBrae · 02/11/2019 19:19

No he just looks like a resident of Hobbiton. Grin

Spelt right, though.

mbosnz · 02/11/2019 19:21

I think it's terrible when sport (or anything like) is used as an excuse for people to act on their prejudices, to feel empowered as a part of a herd to behave abusively towards others.

It does happen. That cannot be denied. It happens on the pitches, it happens in the stands, and it happens in the communities.

And that's really upsetting, sometimes frightening, and always hurtful.

I have to admit, I was worried (still am a wee bit) about what was going to happen when my staunch rugby mad Kiwis went back to school to meet their equally staunch rugby mad English compatriots at school. Because there's already been quite an edge to the 'banter'. . .

I just hope they all remember to stick to 'banter', and don't go any further!

Sexnotgender · 02/11/2019 19:21

Faf looks like a chipmunk.

flapjackfairy · 02/11/2019 19:29

It is sport at the end of the day !
I am Welsh living in England and would love Wales to have got to the final. But they didn't! (Obviously ).
But I have no axe to grind against other teams and their supporters . England did well to get to the final . Hats off to them I say !
Why people have to get abusive is beyond me .

Kittygirl47 · 02/11/2019 20:13

Faf is sooo smiley and looks like he would be a right laugh on a night out though! Stop being so shallow 😂

Although I saw an interview earlier with “bum chin” Will Carling and Mike Phillips has been on ItV a lot through the World Cup lately, both are uber delicious.

BanjoStarz · 02/11/2019 20:36

@kittygirl47 I don’t know how you can deny the rascist edge to the anti-English “banter” trotted out by certain factions of the Welsh (and Scottish to be honest) populations?

I have witnessed myself people being spat at, verbally and physically abused because they’re English - and this isn’t in some backwater welsh town.

I don’t understand why, if people can’t bring themselves to support another home nation, they can’t just shut the fuck up...cheering on the opposers to the home nation because of some deluded notion of sticking it to the English is pretty damn pathetic.

Kittygirl47 · 02/11/2019 20:45

@banjostarz

I never denied it happens , it just seems the Pp in the thread who has now left seemed to get it pre today and surprise surprise today too. We aren’t that a nasty race. I was supporting England today but tbh after reading abiut Woodward’s comments I am annoyed I did.

I don’t automatically support “anyone but England” cried at Euro 96.

SerenDippitty · 02/11/2019 21:21

I’m Welsh. I support the English football team but cannot bring myself to support the rugby team. Eddie Jones is a nasty bit of work IMO.

Kittygirl47 · 02/11/2019 21:48

CAUTION SWEARING ⚠
Ifan Morgan Jones
The insistence that Welsh fans support England when they get further at a Football or Rugby World Cup has always struck me as an odd one.
Wales and England are rivals in sport. Geographic proximity in sport doesn’t mean support like each other – quite the opposite in fact.
No one would expect Manchester City to support Manchester United, Everton to support Liverpool or Swansea to support Cardiff. When these sides compete against each other, it’s a local rivalry.
However, I have no particular reason to support South Africa going into the Rugby World Cup Final either and felt that England probably deserved the World Cup.
In last week’s win against the All Blacks they had played the best rugby of the competition and no Welsh fan would have had any complaints if they had lifted the Webb Ellis Trophy.
Clive Woodward’s comments at half time, however, had my donning dark green and cheering on the Springboks instead.
“The SA team that played against Wales are a completely different side,” he said at half-time.
Essentially, he was claiming that the South Africa playing England were a step above the one that narrowly beat Wales by a last-minute penalty last week.
I have nothing against the English or English rugby fans, but England’s media pundits are insufferable. No-one can have any complaints that others dislike their team when their pundits are this arrogant.
This was exactly the same South Africa team that played Wales. There are no surprises with South Africa – their tactics were identical.
The only difference was that Pollard missed an early kick against England, while he had a 100% record against Wales.
Despite this, Wales were a missed Rhys Patchell drop-goal away from a final spot last week, while England were well beaten 12-32 today.
In comparison, England were a bag of nerves in the first half of the Rugby World Cup Final. They dragged themselves into contention in the second half but the South Africa boa constrictor soon squeezed the life out of them, before delivering the coup de grace with two late tries.
Clive Woodward’s comments were entirely without merit. Wales, who have beaten England twice this year, played better last week than they did this week.
It’s not just Clive Woodward, however. Yesterday we had Stuart Barnes claim that Wales, Grand Slam champions and World Cup semi-finalists, were not a “top table team”.
If England really wants the support of Welsh rugby fans, perhaps they should ask their pundits to lay off the arrogant condescension.
Otherwise, they can have no complaints when Welsh fans would rather their sporting opponents put them to the sword.

Evilspiritgin · 02/11/2019 22:54

I would support any home team or premiership team in a European final, why the hell wouldn’t I , even though it would go against every grain of my being Liverpool

Monkeyseesmonkeydoes · 03/11/2019 09:42

Want Kittygirl said!
Also cannot stand Eddie Jones - he’s classless. His ‘scummy Irish’ comments guaranteed that no Irish fan would ever support him or his overconfident, arrogant team.

MrsJoshNavidi · 03/11/2019 10:06

Ditto Monkey.

SerenDippitty · 03/11/2019 10:17

Said Wales was “a little shit place” too.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoes · 03/11/2019 12:02

He really is low rent... who’d like a team with that mentality? We’re the best because we’re superior in every way

ManonBlackbeak · 03/11/2019 12:54

Eddie Jones is a cunt yes, and a shit rugby player who was never good enough to play for Australia himself.

Buster72 · 03/11/2019 13:05

For all the Faf supporters on this thread.

Notice how he takes his clothes off but keeps his medal on.

Buster72 · 03/11/2019 13:08

Eddie Jones isn't easy to get along with but he turned England around from 2015, coached Japan to beat SA, and was assistant coach when SA won in 2007.

Kittygirl47 · 03/11/2019 13:45

I don’t think England Rugby were in the doldrums or had anything to be “turned around” in 2015. They were just unlucky at the World Cup. Jones took over a great side who have regained their form since a disappointing World Cup but he’s used it to boost his nasty little ego.

His disregard and sarky comments to Warren Gatland saying that some teams have peaked in the semi final previously were just typical, but made for a great meme.

Kittygirl47 · 03/11/2019 13:47

@Butterisbest

“Is it a holiday home then?”

Crying! 😂😂😂😂

Butterisbest · 03/11/2019 13:50

KittyGirl
I thank you.

Buster72 · 03/11/2019 14:50

@Kittygirl47
England didn't get out the pool in '15. A poor performance at home.
I think gatland started that conversation and I doubt he's crying into his beer.

Eddie Jones is a genius, and I'm a Bok suppprter
