It's on the news fair enough. But does it need to be so biased. I'm Scottish and I know we're out but bleeeeeeegh

Watching TV is an entirely optional activity.

StrawberryGoo · 01/11/2019 13:45

YABVU! It’s brilliant, why shouldn’t we enjoy it?

If it were Scotland it would have loads of coverage too.

Crunched · 01/11/2019 13:47

If Scotland were in the final I would be equally hyped - and would hope (and believe) the coverage would be the same for any home nation.
I am pretty jealous of the people I know who have flown over to Tokyo though, so I can join you in your breakfast of sour grapes tomorrow.

derxa · 01/11/2019 13:56

I am pretty jealous of the people I know who have flown over to Tokyo though Even I would support England if I was at the match itself Grin

See derxa you're coming round to the idea! Grin

SoupDragon · 01/11/2019 18:25

if Scotland were in the final, Naga Muchetty, Dan whatisface, Ben Shepherd et al wouldn't be blethering on about it and talking about 'us' doing well.

Presumably because they aren't Scottish.

derxa · 01/11/2019 18:34

Presumably because they aren't Scottish. Aren't they supposed to be impartial?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 01/11/2019 18:37

No idea. I bet a Scottish newsreader/pundit would say the same if it were Scotland though. But I guess we won't find out 😉

HarryElephante · 01/11/2019 18:39

Scots are so, so bitter about the English.

SoupDragon · 01/11/2019 18:40

TBH, I'd have the same level of enthusiasm for the rugby if Scotland or Wales (or Northern Ireland... do they play?) were in the final. ie not a lot but a vague sense of being pleased that a "home" country was in it.

HarryElephante · 01/11/2019 18:42

Aren't they supposed to be impartial

No. Scots are really patriotic and it's great. But the moment the English are, the Celts are up in arms.

I love Scots, Scotland etc but their attitude toward the English does my head in. I live in England but am born and bred elsewhere, so am fairly objective.

Ginger1982 · 01/11/2019 18:49

I'm Scottish too and wouldn't really care if Scotland were in the final either!

At least Clive Tyldesley won't be commentating!!

blue25 · 01/11/2019 18:51

Oh just ignore it if you don’t like it. Why do people always have to s* on others fun. It’s so tedious.

AngeloMysterioso · 01/11/2019 18:53

When Scotland got further than any other home nation in 2015 we were all behind them. It’s a shame it never goes the other way when England are doing well.

And the fanfare around tomorrow’s final pales into insignificance compared with how it would be if we ever got as far in the football World Cup. That really would be ridiculous.

Longdistance · 01/11/2019 18:54

COME ON ENGLAND!!! 🌹

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 01/11/2019 18:55

"Scots are so, so bitter about the English."

Surprised it took till page 2 for this old shite to start.

SoupDragon · 01/11/2019 18:55

Is it "old shite"? It seems to be generally true.

Kittygirl47 · 01/11/2019 19:00

I’m Welsh and cried last Sunday.

But COME ON ENGLAND! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

purplepalace · 01/11/2019 19:02

OP, what do you mean by 'does it have to be so bias'? I don't understand?

I'm South African and I live in England...can you route for both teams? Grin

My FB is full of posts supporting both teams as I have friends in both countries. I love rugby, the only fighting is on the pitch, and never in the stands...unlike football

derxa · 01/11/2019 19:07

No idea. I bet a Scottish newsreader/pundit would say the same if it were Scotland though. But I guess we won't find out Grin
So very true

Luaa · 01/11/2019 19:09

Of course they want England to win! I would love England to win tomorrow. I really wanted Wales to win today and if it were Scotland playing tomorrow I'd want them to win too!

If it were Scotland playing England, I'd prefer England to win, but tbh I'd be happy either way.

derxa · 01/11/2019 19:11

At least Clive Tyldesley won't be commentating!! Wrong game surely

You seem to alluding to the fact that I may be wrong. Which I am not.

EdithWeston · 01/11/2019 19:32

Although it's fighting over a ball with rules

Tsk - laws (not 'rules')

Ginger1982 · 01/11/2019 19:34

@derxa yes I know! At least it's rugby so he won't be commentating! Can't stand him!
