It's on the news fair enough. But does it need to be so biased. I'm Scottish and I know we're out but bleeeeeeegh

I can’t wait!!! I’m watching at home tomorrow and my boyfriend is well aware that if he speaks, moves, or walks in front of the TV he will be instantly dumped!

Ginger1982 · 01/11/2019 19:36

"And the fanfare around tomorrow’s final pales into insignificance compared with how it would be if we ever got as far in the football World Cup. That really would be ridiculous."

The English media had England in the last football World Cup final before they'd even played their previous match!

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 01/11/2019 19:41

"You seem to alluding to the fact that I may be wrong. Which I am not."

So you've spoken to all 5 million of us about it to know what we think? Cool 👍You must have missed me out somehow because I couldn't care less about England.

AuntieStella · 01/11/2019 20:12

Parkrun or rugby?

Difficult....

Ginnymweasley · 01/11/2019 20:20

I live in wales and I am english.... I don't really like rugby tbh and even less so after living here for 10 years. A lot of welsh people are lovely and will be supporting england tomorrow, sadly some are not. I have been spat at, called english scum and last week was told in a cafe with my children that english are cheating bastards. My dh is working tomorrow so I won't be watching it although I hope they win of course.

Loosenisous · 01/11/2019 20:29

Welsh. Will not cheer for England tomorrow. Don't care about SA winning, so won't watch.

It isn't sore losers, I just dislike both final countries, so do not care about final.

meditrina · 01/11/2019 20:45

My first loyalty is to a different Home Nation.

But as I live in England at the moment, they're my second choice team and I'll be more than happy to be cheering them on tomorrow.

And I love it when there is a national spectacle (have lived in other countries, and got thoroughly caught up in their triumphs and reversals)

Sexnotgender · 01/11/2019 20:48

Go Bokke!!!

MrsJoshNavidi · 01/11/2019 21:04

I'm Welsh, living in England. I really doubt there would have been so much coverage on national TV if Wales had been in the final.

Come on the boks!!

I think it's partly because there is no English version of the news. Scotland and Wales, and probably N Ireland have their own national news. England doesn't, it's regional news in England. So purely English news is covered by the national news in a way that Welsh news wouldn't be.

Cecilandsnail · 01/11/2019 21:05

Welsh here. I'm right behind England. They playing incredibly well to be fair!

Wizzbangpop · 01/11/2019 21:07

Yabu it would be a lot worse if it was the men's football World Cup

I've been looking n forward to tomorrow and the rugby all week and hopefully will be the highlight of my weekend

PortiaCastis · 01/11/2019 21:08

I shall be in the pub 8am when it opens, this will be a great match especially if our Cornish boy scores the winning try, so exciting!

Toooldtobearsed2 · 01/11/2019 21:09

Well i am having a free bacon buttie on the beach, watching us spank
SA on the big screen.
The end.

derxa · 01/11/2019 22:30

We'll all be watching here in Scotchland. Reluctant support for England but let's hope it's a good match. Cheers!

I shall be the 16th man/person making my contribution, I'll be curled up in bed with Montelbano until the phone rings around 11am when I'll be free to look, I have strict instructions never, ever to even look at the TV when it's off!
In 1966 my Saturday job boss got so fed up with my asking customers for the score that she let me go into the TV shop next door, just in time to see Germany equalise, Tim Henman was 2 sets up, 4-0 up in the fifth but still lost when I switched on!
I have a bottle of Lanson Black Label in the firdge and a big pack of tissues in the cupboard.

tillytrotter1 · 02/11/2019 00:52

Of course Tim was up in the third not the fifth.

Sunflower20 · 02/11/2019 01:04

So done with rugby hype. Pretty sure south africa will win it.

beingchampion · 02/11/2019 01:26

Could be worse. Could be hype about football.

England aren't even very good at football. World class rugby team though.

TomPinch · 02/11/2019 04:41

called english scum and last week was told in a cafe with my children that english are cheating bastards

I remember getting exactly the same crap when I lived in Scotland in the 90s but for some reason it was always AOK.

I learned a lot about unconscious bias and societal wilful blindness and.. well, racism, to be honest.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoes · 02/11/2019 08:00

It’s annoying but come and cheer with SA with me!!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoes · 02/11/2019 08:02

Hopefully it won’t be the walkover that the English press seem to think it’ll be. Nothing worse than one team trouncing another in a final ...

derxa · 02/11/2019 08:11

Hopefully it will be a good match Monkey

PortiaCastis · 02/11/2019 08:15

I'm off over to the pub now to support the boy that comes from this town and England and hopefully a win but if we lose so be it, still a great achievement to get to play in a world cup final no matter what the detractors say and the lad that lives here will get a warm welcome home even if we lose

derxa · 02/11/2019 08:43

Good on you Portia I wish England all the best

OP posts:
marcopront · 02/11/2019 08:50

I'm English watching it in East Africa.
I have South Africa in the sweepstake.
I win either way.
