Mystery knickers

A pair of black knickers appeared (clean) in a pile of clothing I had ready to wash in the living room. They are not mine. Confused

I asked DP and he genuinely seems clueless. We work together + we spend 95% of our time together. I do work 2 evenings a week, but during this time DP is looking after our toddler & I'm back within 2 hours of DS going to bed.

We haven't had any female guests staying. DPs male friend stayed with us 4 weeks ago and it did cross my mind, but they'd be far too small (size 6) for him anyway.

Anyone want to help me play detective?Grin

Are you sure your buggy didn't pick them up when you were shopping somewhere? I know it sounds far-fetched but I once inadvertently shop-lifted a pair of black lacy knickers from M&S Lingerie Department. They must have been on the floor and I wheeled over them with the buggy. It was only about an hour later, when I was in Waitrose, that I realised that I had a pair of new knickers wrapped round one of the buggy wheels!

Hanro isn't a sexy brand is it?

tightropemummy · 22/10/2019 18:47

Sorry not read the whole thread but has anyone given you a bag of clothes for your child? They could easily have got mixed up in there or similarly if someone's returned clothes you've loaned them?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 22/10/2019 18:51

I don't think anyone has suggested this (and I hope not as I want to claim the win if it's right Grin)

Do you have any clothes dry cleaned? They could have come back in with them? Especially if they are static-y.

Bumfuzzled · 22/10/2019 18:51

You have a young child so you presumably have a few friends with young children too. They came in down the leg of one of your tired and unobservant mum friends. Which one is well off and slim?

user1498572889 · 22/10/2019 18:52

Do you hang your washing outside. Foxes have left various items of clothes that either hubby or kids have picked up and put back in the wash thinking I had dropped them in the garden.

daddybrizzy · 22/10/2019 19:06

You’re never going to know the answer, so if you trust your man, then just let it go. If you find another pair, then re-open the case!

TheABC · 22/10/2019 19:08

I am going with previous owners.

We have had mystery boxers turn up in the wash before - turns out the kids picked it up at a friend's house (don't ask!).

DH found it hilarious.

ChocoholicsAsylum · 22/10/2019 19:19

Look Im not trying to be harsh at all but after all these suggestions and nothing to justify then lets be honest... some womens random knickers just turn up in your house and you trust he knows nothing?? Fucking come on!!

CountryGirl1234 · 22/10/2019 19:19

I literally have a pair behind the radiator that are awaiting rescue as we speak. Been there months if not a year plus. 30 cm ruler doesn’t reach... probably be there another year yet.

DowntownAbby · 22/10/2019 19:23

Look Im not trying to be harsh at all but...

No, of course you're not.

MrsTommyShelby · 22/10/2019 19:25

Have you had any friends or family round for a cuppa recently? Just thinking there's been a fair few times I've put my jeans on and not noticed a pair of knickers been stuck inside. They may have fallen out of someone's trouser leg while in your front room.

MrsTommyShelby · 22/10/2019 19:25

Jeans with knickers in after going through the wash*

cricketmum84 · 22/10/2019 19:28

Sorry I haven't had time to RTFT. Sure I'll get lambasted for that!!

OP - how old are your DC? I ask as we have spent a year occasionally finding size 8 ladies underwear (def not mine) before our DS came out as transgender and admitted they were his. Poor DH was insistent he hadn't had a size 8 woman round while I was out!

starfishmummy · 22/10/2019 19:40

I once found a strange pair of male underpants, luckily after I had washed them (!) although they looked almost new. They were from Asda - I never go there. First thought that dh had bought them but he doesnt work near an Asda.

In the end the guess was that they had got scooped up with ds's kit after swimming at his school, however they were too large for his fellow students so I had visions of a teacher or TA spending the day "commando".

I just threw them out!!

Sassenach85 · 22/10/2019 19:42

We have a stand alone bath tub and one day I was scooping up dirty clothes from the floor and there was a sock under the bath from previous owners child, I think these things are easily done

BigFatLiar · 22/10/2019 19:50

@starfishmummy - Be glad your OH didn't find them, according to Mumsnet you must be having an affair and should kick you out!

BoringUserName00 · 22/10/2019 19:52

My thought was that DP has taken them from a neighbour or somebody's washing line. Do you have any neighbours whom the knickers could have come from? Or have you and your husband visited female friend's home recently?

Andysbestadventure · 22/10/2019 19:56

DH bought them from a pervy site and is now denying all knowledge. I haven't read the ft yet but thats my bet 😁 or they're an ex girlfriends/from a night out.

Gwenhwyfar · 22/10/2019 19:58

"Cleaner fancied the husband, but sadly for her didn’t realise he was away on business and so only people with access to washing basket those days were her and the wife. No cat! She was fired obvs."

How was it proven that the cleaner did this?

Boysey45 · 22/10/2019 20:12

I bet hes wearing them himself.Loads of men wear womens knickers, its a known thing.

Ping · 22/10/2019 20:14

Same here

Jolonglegs · 22/10/2019 20:21

I wish they had been mine: I'd love to wear size 6 (sighs)

Jengnr · 22/10/2019 20:27

Happened to me and I was mildly suspicious (although they weren’t affair knickers, they were just bog standard not nice ones) until I found another pair that were clearly a teenager’s. I didn’t really think husband was having an affair but I certainly don’t think he’s a paedo.

It turned out they were from my cleaner’s 14 year old.

I’d said my cleaner could use my dryer but I was pissed at the time and forgot. :)

Localocal · 22/10/2019 20:28

Have you used bedding that you haven't used in a while? Knickers have a way of getting stuck inside a duvet cover and then reappearing three washes later. Could they have been yours once upon a time and reappeared when you turned out a duvet cover you haven't used in a while? Or one that was your partner's before he belonged to you and the knickers belonged to some long forgotten girlfriend? Or bedding came from your mum and they are hers?

B9ddy · 22/10/2019 20:28

And they are size 6 ....
