Mystery knickers

A pair of black knickers appeared (clean) in a pile of clothing I had ready to wash in the living room. They are not mine. Confused

I asked DP and he genuinely seems clueless. We work together + we spend 95% of our time together. I do work 2 evenings a week, but during this time DP is looking after our toddler & I'm back within 2 hours of DS going to bed.

We haven't had any female guests staying. DPs male friend stayed with us 4 weeks ago and it did cross my mind, but they'd be far too small (size 6) for him anyway.

Anyone want to help me play detective?Grin

Ha! This happened to us once. My DH went mental as he found a pair of boxers in his drawer of clean undies and they weren't his. I was 7 months pg at the time, so the idea that I was having it off with someone else and also washing his boxers was hilarious. Anyway, we finally figured out they were a friends, who had stayed over and they must have got bundled up with towels/bedding when he left. Also found a random sock - distinctive pattern and definitely not DHs. Never did figure out where that came from.

Had this once on holiday. Me and 2 mates went to Greece and the week after we met up as we’d had our photos developed (it was a long time ago) and friend 1 says “Oh Friend 2 will give you your top back, she packed it by mistake.” Friend 2 brings out a top that doesn’t belong to me, her or friend 1, must have been dropped off someone else’s balcony or already there when we got there, even though none of us noticed it.

I’d suspect your DS has maybe picked them up at school getting changed for PE or they’ve blown in from another washing line.

holidays987 · 21/10/2019 10:04

You'd have noticed them if your partner's friend had brought them in weeks ago. (Also unlikely I think.)

You don't have a cat so it's unlikely they would have been brought in by a cat?

They didn't come from the nursery if they are adult panties.

If you don't recognise them as belonging to yourself (maybe a long ago)

...another option: your partner has been unfaithful. Just a possibility. Do they smell like your laundry powder or like someone else. (Sorry, bit gross).

Toddler?.. my friends lo has a great habit of raiding things, and stashing them elsewhere, works both ways I go home with a bag full of toys n dummies n can never find xyz if we don’t put the bags out the way.

Or was dh attempting to get a fancy dress up kind of evening from you got the wrong size chucked them in the basket n won’t admit it now.. mine believes I’m about a 10 or a small... I’m a 14 n a small would wrap round one tit if it was lucky.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 21/10/2019 10:06

We had the same as Gustavo1, a couple of pairs appeared over the winter in our washing until we discovered a bunch of them fallen behind one of our long radiators.
It was clearly a popular drying spot for the previous owners undies Grin

PassMeAnotherCoffee · 21/10/2019 10:07

Do you go to the gym? Could you have scooped them up in your gym bag by mistake?

AryaStarkWolf · 21/10/2019 10:11

Can't think it'd be the cat. Mine only wears thongs or boxers.

This happened to me. turned out to be, teenage daughter borrowed pants from a friend during a sleepover (she forgot to pack clean ones) , said pants turned up in the wash.

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 10:17

Can't look at the brand now as they are in the room where DS is having his nap. Will have a look later.

DS doesn't go to nursery & is only 17 months. I did wonder about them getting blown into our garden & mixed up, but very unlikely as I do all the washing and would have noticed + our neighbour is an elderly man who lives alone and uses the laundrette.

I had something similar to this not so long back. We had been tidying the house, and I had given my partner the happy task of clearing the bedroom while I was doing the garden.

He came out to tell me he'd put some washing in the machine, as there were bits and pieces dotted about, and he even laughed that there were some under the bed, and he didn't know how they could even get there.

When I took the things out of the machine later, most of the female things weren't even mine! (I always put mine in the washing basket, like a normal human). It turns out they belonged to his ex, who had lived with him, but not for two years, and because he'd cleared the bedroom out completely, he'd found them under the bed, behind things etc. I obviously know that was true though, as it wasn't just the odd thing. I returned them to her and she seemed quite pleased as they were washed! (Not ironed though, ha ha).

ShirleyPhallus · 21/10/2019 10:20

This has happened to me before, my sister gave me a big bag of clothes to go through that she’d been given by someone else and somehow a pair of her tiny knickers ended up in there. I didn’t notice and only saw them in the laundry basket weeks later.

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 10:22

A bit more context. DP & I moved into our house 18 months ago, it is our first home together. We have one DC (17 months).

Has someone given you a bag of hand down clothes for you toddler and maybe a pair of their knickers got mixed up in the bag?

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 10:25

Oh that makes it easy, they belong to old tenants.
Lost in Airing Cupboard, or somewhere.

Wherearemycrayons · 21/10/2019 10:25

That’s so odd... I mean I’d just assume my DH was lying because there doesn’t seem to be any other reasonable explanation tbh?

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 10:26

The pants are "HANRO of Switzerland",
I am Confused

DPs friend does not live anywhere near Switzerland.

DPs friend does not live anywhere near Switzerland.

He could have been with a Swiss woman though

Lunafortheloveogod · 21/10/2019 10:30

On a quick google.. they aren’t cheap knickers 😂. They do sell them online to the UK too so not like Swedish primark. Have you cleared the loft recently? (Thinking of last occupiers stuff)

scoobydoo1971 · 21/10/2019 10:31

DH friend may have bought them, or kept them from previous conquest as sexual relief fodder...

DarlingNikita · 21/10/2019 10:36

I've got no suggestions, I'm just intrigued!

NoSauce · 21/10/2019 10:37

Do you have a cleaner?

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 10:40

No cleaner / babysitter etc.

OP posts:
StartingAgainID · 21/10/2019 10:43

Could you have picked them up with your stuff at the gym or at a swimming pool?

NoSauce · 21/10/2019 10:43

Have you been to a swimming pool recently?

NoSauce · 21/10/2019 10:43

Or gym?
