Mystery knickers

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 08:54

A pair of black knickers appeared (clean) in a pile of clothing I had ready to wash in the living room. They are not mine. Confused

I asked DP and he genuinely seems clueless. We work together + we spend 95% of our time together. I do work 2 evenings a week, but during this time DP is looking after our toddler & I'm back within 2 hours of DS going to bed.

We haven't had any female guests staying. DPs male friend stayed with us 4 weeks ago and it did cross my mind, but they'd be far too small (size 6) for him anyway.

Anyone want to help me play detective?Grin

Come on, this "mystery knickers in the laundry basket" story has been done to death on MN - all it takes is for the OP to keep saying no, no, no, no, no to every suggestion. There's nothing to prove yay or nay.

Branster · 22/10/2019 20:34

Am I the only one who checked out this brand of underwear and thinks those soft bras are exactly what I’d want (very, very difficult to find plain, absolutely completely smooth non-underwire, not sports bras) but a bit on the pricey side if they don’t actually fit properly?? And I’d prefer no vpl matching pants which they don’t appear to have and I only like matching underwear.

I still maintain DH is not guilty.

Whoever lost t

Shortfeet · 22/10/2019 20:35

Hey those are mine. I live in the outer Hebrides. How the hell did they get there ?

Branster · 22/10/2019 20:36

Pressed ‘post’ too soon...
Whoever lost the pants would notice they are missing.

starfishcoffee · 22/10/2019 20:43

Thanks for the replies.

I don't think DP has cheated as he just hasn't had any opportunity. We have only been apart 2 full nights since we moved in together, I went away for a weekend last year. We work together, our friends are mostly mutual & he is very open with his social media, passwords etc - it definitely plays on my mind but I can't convict DP of cheating - I have no evidence.

I have received bags of hand me downs for DS, so that's a possibility, although how it ended up on laundry pile is Hmm

Take care - he may think you have a lesbian lover!

SuperMumTum · 22/10/2019 21:19

My toddler ds once brought knickers home from someone else's house. They were hung up to dry after washing and he just squirrelled them away and they appeared again at the bottom of my stairs later that day.

BringMeAGinandTonic · 22/10/2019 21:55

Some people wear pants as hair scrunchies ...

After reading that comment 3 times to be sure I fully understood its meaning, I Googled and can confirm this is a thing. I always learn new things on MN.

Shockers · 22/10/2019 22:03

I often find stray items after the summer. We caravan in France and I wash all our clothes in the site launderettes before we come home. People are really careless when emptying their washing out!

taxiforme · 22/10/2019 22:11

Ah.. I had this with my exH. Pants found in the wash..total mystery.

Well, maybe not...as they were in the same wash as his dressing gown...

He was shagging a colleague whilst I was away working!

Catsinthecupboard · 22/10/2019 22:30

I think that there is a logical explanation if he's open with pw's.

I defer to everyone else with explanations about radiators, tubs, closets etc.

I think it could be as pet or, Blush they hitched sneaky ride in a pant leg. (I once found mine on a sidewalk on the way home from market. Facing up at me, glowing in the morning sunlight. They fell out of my pant leg on the way TO the store.)

Unless you have real evidence, don't let this hurt your relationship.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 22/10/2019 22:38

Aliens.

I don't think it sounds like you need to worry, OP. Maybe an overnight guest? I've found odd items of clothing that have turned out to by my scatty mother's left in random places from when she's visited.

wrcm · 22/10/2019 22:45

His mums from when you lived with her?

Tinyandpetite · 22/10/2019 23:00

I once bought a duvet cover from the charity shop, out in the wash with it was a pair of size 10 grey bikini briefs from m&s. I am not classy enough to buy pants from there. I’m more your primark knicker type- classy -me!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/10/2019 23:09

So does dp maintain that the first time he saw them was on the washing pile too?

Clearly one of you put them there, and if you know you didn't? Though you also know they are a size.six with no size label on Grin

Did dh find them and put them on the pile? If so, where did he find them?

Jojowash · 22/10/2019 23:38

Kids wear adult undies, my 11 year old dsd does all the time size 8 or 10. A child's from sleep over ? Or a visit

Weird

cms1972 · 22/10/2019 23:41

I visited a friend in a care home last week. Towards the end of the visit she asked about the lump on the back of my calf under my (tight) jeans. It turned out to be yesterday's pants bunched into a ball, & I'd only been walking around like it all day! Someone could have visited your house and shaken them out of their trews without realising... basically there are 100 reasons for those pants being there, so don't make yourself unhappy by even considering that your DH could have been unfaithful!

Dontsayyouloveme · 23/10/2019 00:07

OP - you say he can’t have had an affair as he just hasn’t had the opportunity!

I’m sorry but it’s not quite that simple. Same situation here, worked together, lived together, went out together etc. He was having an affair with someone at our work, right under my nose, so believe me when I say, they can create the opportunity if they want it enough.

Sorry. X

Goatinthegarden · 23/10/2019 05:40

I’m surprised by how many people claim to have found out their partner is cheating via left behind knickers.

If I had been for a romantic liaison, I would 100%, not be going home without my knickers on. I would look for them and put them back on!

I would also hope if my DP was having an affair, he’d at least be savvy enough to look for, and hide, the evidence.

I find it more plausible that they fell from the back of the radiator!

fib88 · 23/10/2019 06:40

My neighbour found women’s knickers in her house - it turned out they’d be placed there deliberately by husbands ex-girlfriend to cause trouble.

Kidlacky · 23/10/2019 07:33

maybe two pairs of your black knickers had a baby?

forumdonkey · 23/10/2019 07:42

I have received bags of hand me downs for DS, so that's a possibility, although how it ended up on laundry pile is hmm

If the hand me downs were tumble dried, could they have become stuck to the inside of a jumper or sweatshirt (static) and as you've undressed your DS they've come unattached and you've put them both in the laundry basket without noticing????

BigFatLiar · 23/10/2019 08:17

Perhaps he put them there to see if you trusted him?

forumdonkey · 23/10/2019 08:28

@BigFatLiar 😂😂 so, he's took some random woman's clean knickers and put them for OP to find them to see if she trusts him? 😂😂 That'd do it
