Mystery knickers

A pair of black knickers appeared (clean) in a pile of clothing I had ready to wash in the living room. They are not mine. Confused

I asked DP and he genuinely seems clueless. We work together + we spend 95% of our time together. I do work 2 evenings a week, but during this time DP is looking after our toddler & I'm back within 2 hours of DS going to bed.

We haven't had any female guests staying. DPs male friend stayed with us 4 weeks ago and it did cross my mind, but they'd be far too small (size 6) for him anyway.

Anyone want to help me play detective?Grin

Is all your furniture new? Could they have been stuck down the back of a drawer of a second had piece of furniture?

ShirleyPhallus · 21/10/2019 11:13

Christ, some of the responses here Shock

Do people not realise there is an actual person on the other side of the screen who has already said she had a traumatic childhood and therefore has trust issues? And there are people saying the only possible explanation is that he bought them to wank over / kept them from a previous conquest / has been using prostitutes.

Can we not exercise a little sensitivity?!

myself2020 · 21/10/2019 11:14

Seconding the “behind the radiator “ theory. we recently found socks behind a radiator - we’ve been in the house for 5 years!
(definitely not our socks, bright pink sparkly socks size 12-18 months - we have 2 boys with eczema, so sparkly is a no-go)

myself2020 · 21/10/2019 11:15

Add on: we found one sock on the playroom floor, the other behind the radiator after we explicitly checked. we also found a set of keys

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/10/2019 11:17

I know a pair of my knickers is wedged behind the kitchen radiator where we have a drying rack, they fell down a couple of months ago. Despite best efforts, neither me nor DP can retrieve them. I can imagine them reappearing in ten years time, and me being mystified by them.

SuchAToDo · 21/10/2019 11:18

Have you had any guests that have stayed for a few hours and left?...maybe the underwear is theirs...maybe it ended up in their pocket for their tumble dryer and fell out in your house..

Maybe your male guest brought them like others have said

Would they be your husbands size (could your husband have bought them for himself to wear in secret)

NoSauce · 21/10/2019 11:20

But even if and it’s a big IF he’d had another woman there, why would she leave her knickers there?

myself2020 · 21/10/2019 11:20

your little one is also exactly the right age to post stuff behind radiators, and that would bring other stuff down to the floor. then its easily picked up (by anybody including the toddler) put in the wash, and you would only notice when you are folding stuff

SirVixofVixHall · 21/10/2019 11:20

Hanro ? Ooh classy. I love my Hanro knickers, I don’t have many, they are horrifyingly expensive!
Hanro normally have a XS, S, M etc size label, do they say a 6 ? Might be a US six which is a UK ten. Does that help ?
I think radiator from previous owner most likely. Was she that sort of size ?

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 11:21

To those of you who have been kind and helpful, thank you.

I don't think DP would have brought them for me, they are not especially sexy and they probably would (squeeze) fit or at least look like they would.

OP posts:
starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 11:23

I am 99.9% DP didn't bring them with him when we moved in. It would be more likely that he has been unfaithful, although I also don't think and hope that isn't the case.

The radiator theory is a good one - I know I have all sorts of odd things in my radiators, DS is very quick to put things down there.Hmm

Branster · 21/10/2019 11:24

Are you sure they are not yours, maybe an older pair that got stuck inside the duvet cover or pillow cases or in between mattress and be frame and came out when you washed some bedding or changed bed in a spare room. You’re only a size 8 so might actually fit some size 6 items. My DD is an 8 but has some size 6 underwear. I’m the other way around a 6 but have some 8s.

I certainly wouldn’t accuse your DH of anything.

AryaStarkWolf · 21/10/2019 11:24

Does he have a sister OP? Maybe from when you lived there?

xJodiex · 21/10/2019 11:24

Sounds very strange indeed, how did they end up with dirty clothes?

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 11:25

@SirVixofVixHall

I just had a detailed look at the label and there isn't a size on there!Shock I am sure I saw a 6 when I first found them. I stand corrected. (They are still v small pants.)

OP posts:
AnneKipanki · 21/10/2019 11:26

Some people wear pants as hair scrunchies ...

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 11:27

DP has a sister but she lives elsewhere & we've never stayed with her or visa versa.

Not the case here clearly given the brand, but none of the the adult women (late teens, 40s and 70s) in the household recognised a tiny lace thong. It actually caused a massive argument as MIL was offended that we didn't think they were hers.
I was adamant that weren't mine - they looked too uncomfortable. Then I remembered having to choose a third pair to make up a 3 for 2 offer months before and these being the only ones in stock in my size other than the two superhero pairs that I actually wanted Blush

Mumdiva99 · 21/10/2019 11:34

Oh, we sometimes have knickers or socks appear in weird places when they were caught up in a duvet cover in the wash. Or ended up in the leg of a pair of trousers and not noticed thill they fall out dry. My money is on his girlfriend or daughter.

Areyoufree · 21/10/2019 11:35

I’m intrigued by all of these knicker stealing cats!

Wurfit · 21/10/2019 11:36

Oh and this went on for weeks until the penny dropped Blush

Lovemusic33 · 21/10/2019 11:41

Has anyone visited the house? I often carry a stair pair of knickers in my handbag, maybe they fell out of someone’s bag? There’s many possibilities.

I did once find a pair of knickers in my house, didn’t think much of it, thought maybe they were mine and I had forgotten that I had bought them (I have loads of underwear), it did turn out that my dp had been cheating Sad, I didn’t suspect a thing at the time, trusted him completely.

CSIblonde · 21/10/2019 11:45

Was the male friend with no gf who stayed with you alone at your place for any length of time: & perhaps fancied some escort type female company...

starfishcoffee · 21/10/2019 11:47

@Lovemusic33

Nobody I can think of. Mostly my close friends / family. We don't live near DPs family so they don't visit often.
