Earlier on this evening all 3 kids (10, 5 and 4) were engrossed in screens with headphones on. DP upstairs putting washing away.

So I go upstairs and initiate a quickie while the kids are distracted. Just as we get naked we hear "ummm... Mum, there's a problem"
"What?"
"DD has done a poo and it's everywhere... Even on the toilet seat. I think it's diarrhoea"
"Ok we'll sort it"

Mood completely killed, 5 year old was hosed down with the shower while DP cleaned up her mess in the downstairs loo.

It's now 20 to 11, kids all asleep. As is DP! So that's my plans ruined!

We've been together nearly 12 years now, how on earth are we meant to make intimacy a priority in our relationship with kids and exhaustion just trying to ruin it all?

I wonder how babies are made after number 1???

You have my sympathy OP. Both for the problem you posted about and for the response from morally superior people in whose well run households children are slumbering peacefully by half seven every night. My 11 year old is quite often still awake when my husband goes to sleep. And my 15 year old is awake for hours afterwards. Husband has to get up earlier than the kids, and falls asleep in seconds, unlike the kids, who all inherited my night owl tendencies. Best way to get 11 year old to actually fall asleep is to stay with him (reading my Kindle in the dark) but by the time he is out my husband is out too. So I completely see how things are for you and I remember the strain it put on the marriage when it was like that for us (when the kids were little.).

I think your husband will have to find a way to stay up later on the weekends so you can have at it once the kids are in bed and then have a lie in in the morning.

I hear you. Ours is practically non existent. Our eldest teen is awake after us most nights. She goes away once a week and even then one of us is usually shattered after work and crashes out early. She just announced last night she has a new app that will record the noises in the house when we are asleep for fuck sake. Theres nowhere really we can escape in our house for a quickie and I personally wouldnt relax to enjoy it if there were. Our sex life recently has been pretty non existent. The youngest is up at the crack of dawn so morning isnt an option either.

asleep baby in the room doesn't sit right with me in the slightest but with someone else's in the room is something else entirely! Or the ones who's babies were awake. It's all very well saying they're too young to know, but there is research suggesting everything we ever encounter is in the memory banks in some way or another.

Im lost. Babies would have no clue whats going on so what does it matter if its parents or grandparents having sex surely the baby would be asleep and if woke up would not have a comprehension of what was going on anyway?

Ok, so those who find sex with kids in the house/room (babies) weird, I have a question.

How do you feel about this situation?

DS2 has a sickness bug. he's 4 years old and as he's unwell he is currently asleep in my bed.
I have just been for a bath (shock horror I was naked with my kids in the house!) Then trundled off to my bedroom wrapped in a towel, got dry and put on PJs. But at any moment DS2 could have woken and needed my help. He would have seen me naked.
Now obviously to me this isn't a big deal. He's 4 not 14. I'm just curious as to how those claiming it's abuse feel about that kind of scenario? Because there's much more chance of a child seeing a naked parent in the scenario I've just described than in my original post.

Um, it's not the nakedness that's the problem. It's the fact that your kids might walk in on you, or hear you, having sex?

My kids have seen me naked tonnes of times. They have never seen me and DH doing it. They are totally different things
