To not understand Brexit?

HakunaMatataa · 02/09/2019 18:34

Please don't come for me, I am very out of the loop r.e: Brexit. I have no idea what is happening and what the implications of this could be on our everyday lives.

I keep seeing threads about stock piling ect and now I'm left wondering if I should be preparing?!

So basically I suppose I'd like some views on Brexit, some pro's and cons in layman's terms, so I can try and get my head around it please.

Is this just alot of scare mongering going on or shall I be concerned?

I've obviously googled this but politics isnt my strong point and I just don't get it.

What happens if we leave the EU. Basically the whole thing Blush

I've just seen on another thread a huge list of suggested things we should be stock piling. Is it necessary?

Have you been living under a rock? How can you not even have a basic understanding of Brexit... Shock

Petrichor11 · 02/09/2019 18:42

If you haven’t cared or noticed for the past three and a half years of campaigning, voting and fallout then not sure anything will be much help

BBC news usually include a guide to terminology and I would suggest is a good starting point.

But YABU for being so unaware of something that has dominated the country for so long

pikapikachu · 02/09/2019 18:46

Yes but it's good that you're looking to educate yourself about this. As a pp suggested, the BBC website is very good at explaining things. There's a lot of info to digest but all adults should know about this so good luck with your reading. ThanksBrew

lljkk · 02/09/2019 18:49

Nobody knows WTF is going to happen.
The sensible action is to prepare for nothing b/c it's too confusing to figure out what might happen.
HTH.

YABU.

Honestly, it's been years of wall to wall coverage, you didn't have the slightest inclination to inform yourself about something that might impact on your life?

HakunaMatataa · 02/09/2019 18:57

To clarify no I didn't vote.

Comment of the day year!!!

mamaofboyss · 02/09/2019 19:03

People are being so so rude on this thread. A person trying to educate their self and getting comments so judgy. Why not educate instead of making people feel stupid so many people don't understand Brexit and may have had traumas or other significant factors going on in life to even think about it!

pumkinspicetime · 02/09/2019 19:03

This isn't a bad place for anyone to start.

Ohflippineck · 02/09/2019 19:05

How old are you? (not being sarkie. Our son is engaged but some of the other kids on his politics A level are very new to it all. It’s just not been on their radar).

If you are an healthy adult, resident in the UK, I too would wonder just wth you’ve been for the past 3 1/2 years,

Mrskeats · 02/09/2019 19:05

Rude? People are going to die because of this idiocy. I don't care if you think I am rude. Stupidity got us here.

itsabongthing · 02/09/2019 19:05

Another one who would like to know how/if you voted!

I’m sure if you google you will find lots of summaries.

pinkmummy1 · 02/09/2019 19:05

Dont worry your not the only one. I didn't vote. I have no clue what's going on. Everytime its mentioned I jest smile and nod.

Mrskeats · 02/09/2019 19:05

🙄

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 02/09/2019 19:08

I don't think its rude to question how someone couldn't understand Brexit and what leaving the EU will mean.

Even if you were not paying attention during the past 3 and 1/2 years it would be impossible not to develop at least a passing understanding through osmosis of hearing about it non stop.
