Is it rude for my partner to get up and add leftovers to the meal I just made him or am I just hormonal ??

Hello there- I’m wondering if you could clear up a question around table manners please?
For a family evening dinner a member of the family cooks a homemade pie and a vegetable salad. It takes quite a while and care is taken to present the meal.
The person it is served to picks at the parts of the salad they like and then goes to the kitchen and brings back some leftover cold veg from the fridge and adds it to the meal. Is this bad table manners?

To make up for my rudeness...

You monogrammed the pies?

I’m struggling to get past that Grin.

WorraLiberty · 13/08/2019 17:20

Actually it’s not his home it’s mine. I pay for it and cook and clean

Well that's a massive drip feed.

At no point did you mention you don't live together!

But you're still BU and more so to blame hormones.

Nofunkingworriesmate · 13/08/2019 17:24

If he lives there it’s his home and should feel free to add to the meal
As a casual guest he was bit rude but clearly is more than occasional visitor as he felt comfortable helping himself

JockTamsonsBairns · 13/08/2019 17:27

Sorry OP, but I need to throw another question into the mix. Did Dp heat the leftover veg before adding them to his plate? Surely nobody could eat fridge-cold veg alongside a hot pie? Confused

PickAChew · 13/08/2019 17:29

I'm still trying to fathom salad with pie.

bellabasset · 13/08/2019 17:29

Is it homity pie, which doesn't have a crust?

MyOtherProfile · 13/08/2019 17:31

Pie is something that contains meat, veg and gravy.
Apple pie doesn't contain any of those. At least not when I make it Grin

Is a cheese pie the same as a quiche?

PickAChew · 13/08/2019 18:20

No cheese pie has a top crust. Markses used to sell them

Used to love a cheese pie or pasty, but I can't even look at one without experiencing digestive discomfort, these days.

Biancadelrioisback · 13/08/2019 18:41

So I'm having pie for tea now.

sonjadog · 13/08/2019 18:51

That cheese pie does look good!

SandAndSea · 13/08/2019 18:53

I think it depends how it's done. Eg. I probably wouldn't mind if he engaged with me and included me in the suggestion of adding the extras and did it in a nice, considerate way. But, if he's always sponging and helping himself and isn't considerate of you, that's a whole other issue.

RevealTheLegend · 13/08/2019 19:04

Was it this salad OP?

also I have a very powerful craving for gala pie. God I bloody love gala pie. Best with mushy peas, but i would have it cold with ––more pie–– salad

gamerchick · 13/08/2019 19:14

I was kind of hoping to come back.to what kind of pie it was and what a vegetable salad that goes with it is.

So no, he wasn't rude and it does sound like this is a long term suffering for him with your PMT issues. Maybe start with that and learn how to navigate your cycle so you don't want to kill.

Cannyhandleit · 13/08/2019 19:35

@JockTamsonsBairns I don't think the pie was hot. Would you eat hot pie with salad? If it was hot pie with salad, hot pie with cold veg?? Maybe it was all cold!?

sonjadog · 13/08/2019 20:39

Cold pie? Is cold pie ever a good thing?

Cannyhandleit · 13/08/2019 20:47

@sonjadog pork pie?

sonjadog · 13/08/2019 20:49

Good point.

Cannyhandleit · 13/08/2019 20:54

@sonjadog I'm also partial to a cold macaroni pie but I know I'm in the minority with that and I'm not sure I'd be happy with serving it as a family dinner.

Men honestly don’t care about things like little pastry letters spelling out their names on the top of a pie.

You are hormonal.
