Is it rude for my partner to get up and add leftovers to the meal I just made him or am I just hormonal ??

Hello there- I’m wondering if you could clear up a question around table manners please?
For a family evening dinner a member of the family cooks a homemade pie and a vegetable salad. It takes quite a while and care is taken to present the meal.
The person it is served to picks at the parts of the salad they like and then goes to the kitchen and brings back some leftover cold veg from the fridge and adds it to the meal. Is this bad table manners?

Please stop saying you're a bit "hormonal" OP. It does none of us any favours and is a rubbish excuse for poor behaviour. If you feel that ropey, take a deep breath and don't bother with the little pastry letters.

And pie needs gravy.

Yeah can we stop using 'hormonal' instead of 'being a petty dickhead'.
You sound very controlling, it's a bit sinister when its just a bit of leftover veg. How badly do you behave when it's a big issue?

Halloumimuffin · 13/08/2019 10:58

I'm hormonal and the overwhelming result from this thread has been an intense need for PIE

PIE PIE PIE GIMME PIE

Here's my recipe for Vegetable Salad.

Chop up cabbage, carrot and onion.
Serve to partner.
Await compliments.

No need to thank me.

Spingtrolls · 13/08/2019 11:04

Cheese and onion or vegan Greggs thing yea with salad.
Cannot believe op hasn’t answered questions about the veg or pie.

Ohmygoodnessreally · 13/08/2019 11:06

Huh?

katewhinesalot · 13/08/2019 11:11

Dh would do this to avoid waste but this woukd be before he starts eating. I can see why it would irritate you if he did it part way through the meal, especially if he then left some of the new meal.

Otoh I like cooking the meals, as I cook what I like and I cook it how I like it. I'd hate to have someone serving meals up for me every night, no matter how carefully they were prepared.

RubaDubMum89 · 13/08/2019 11:17

In all seriousness , what the fuck is vegetable salad?!?

LIZS · 13/08/2019 11:20

I'm assuming it is cooked veg served cold ie diced carrot, onion, celery, potato in a dressing or roasted peppers, courgette etc.

What’s your hormones got to do with this Hmm

WobbleTime · 13/08/2019 11:21

What sort of pie was it?
(overinvested in the pie)

H2OH20Everywhere · 13/08/2019 11:30

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but tbh the situation wouldn't happen anyway, because I'd have served up the leftovers with the dinner. I hate waste, so even if the salad / left-overs combination was odd, I'd serve it anyway. Luckily DP doesn't mind.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 13/08/2019 11:33

I find it more odd that you did fresh veg when there was already left over veg in the fridge.

Why did you not use this up before making more?

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 13/08/2019 11:35

I have so many questions.. Grin

Redglitter · 13/08/2019 11:39

What a total drama over a non event 🙄

JemimaPuddlePeacock · 13/08/2019 11:40

Dying to know what vegetable salad is.

He brought it in and I said that there was already extra veg in the pie.

YABVVVVU to try prevent a grown adult from adding vegetables to a meal in his own home by telling him that there are already vegetables in the pie. Who does that Confused he clearly wanted the vegetables from the fridge on the side, it’s treating him like a small child to try distract him with ‘there’s veg already in there, look!’

Also confused who asked you to delete the thread.

So many questions and I suspect no answers will be forthcoming.

BossAssBitch · 13/08/2019 11:43

Something tells me you are like this all the time and your 'hormones' have very little to do with it

Nodnol · 13/08/2019 11:55

@ispepsiokay leftover Yorkshire puds? Huh? How can there be leftovers of those? First thing devoured here.

ispepsiokay · 13/08/2019 11:58

@Nodnol I have to make extra as the kids like to load them with ice cream and Nutella for dessert. Feral but they love it

Nodnol · 13/08/2019 12:02

Ooh that sounds good.

ElizaDee · 13/08/2019 12:06

YWBU to not put the leftover veg in the pie, or made the veg salad with it in the first place.

KatherineJaneway · 13/08/2019 12:10

I want to know what this veg salad was made up of.

colourlessgreenidea · 13/08/2019 12:27
