Because of crippling arachnophobia? 😭

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 23/07/2019 22:05

Most spiders come up through the floorboards, not through the windows Confused

msmith501 · 23/07/2019 22:07

And they will get rid of the bloody flies

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:07

I don't have floorboards! I agreed to opening the living room window this week for a couple of nights, he ended catching two spiders.

There's no way my bedroom windows are being opened. 😲

OP posts:
CalmFizz · 23/07/2019 22:07

Yep, the spiders are already in the house cavities. Sorry op.

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:07

We don't get flies luckily. They sent get in. 😂

OP posts:
GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:08

*can't get in

OP posts:
CalmFizz · 23/07/2019 22:08

No floorboards? Concrete based bungalow? If you have an upstairs, there’s floorboards.

WorraLiberty · 23/07/2019 22:08

What are you doing about your arachnophobia at the moment?

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:09

No floor boards upstairs. It's like sheet wood under carpets and laminate floors.

You're not helping! 😂

OP posts:
RedSheep73 · 23/07/2019 22:10

My dh is the arachnophobe here, but there us no way I'm letting him shut the
windows tonight. I agree with the pp, spiders get in all sorts of ways, they don't need open windows.

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:10

@WorraLiberty Keeping my windows closed, eyes peeled and DP on alert for catching duties.

OP posts:
GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:11

@RedSheep73 hear what you're saying, but had no spiders that I've seen in a year, yet two this week since he opened living room window.

OP posts:
morningafternoonevening · 23/07/2019 22:11

I'm the same OP.

PookieDo · 23/07/2019 22:12

Do you have gas heating?

Everyone has air bricks in the walls
Also: Vents (bathroom, kitchen and windows)

They get in anyway. I am sick of having this same conversation with my DD2 about her boiling hot smelly bedroom 😂

SallyWD · 23/07/2019 22:12

I've noticed that often if I do have the windows open I'll find a big spider in the same room later that day. I don't believe it's a coincidence. I'm sure there are plenty of other spiders living in the house but these spiders that come through the windows are far more brazen! Maybe it's just that they haven't had a chance to find their hiding place yet.

WorraLiberty · 23/07/2019 22:12

Then sorry but YABU.

If my DH had a spider phobia and expected me to keep all the windows (and presumably the back door) closed because of it, I'd expect him to seek help.

I'd hate to have to live like that, especially in this heat.

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:12

@morningafternoonevening I'm so glad that I'm not alone. But sad that it affects you as much as it does me.

OP posts:
GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:16

@WorraLiberty I've been this bad since a toddler, I'm now 42. When I met my DP 5 years ago, I was sleeping on the sofa in my house as the biggest spider I ever saw was in my bedroom and ran under my furniture. I've never gone back in there.

I had to make a new bedroom in my other double room when DP started to stay over. I'm still in that second room.

When I was single, I had a dear friend who I could call to come over to catch spiders for me. The morning of the massive spider in my room, she was away though.

OP posts:
GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 23/07/2019 22:17

@SallyWD Agree 100%.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 23/07/2019 22:21

So why have you never done anything about it OP?

It sounds dreadful. There is help out there, that's why I'm surprised you haven't tried to access it.

You can't keep relying on other people and you'll feel better when you don't have to.

Betsy86 · 23/07/2019 22:22

Ok so was doing ok pretending spiders wont see my open windows.... but now I’ve closed them and feeling on edge about what may of crawled in Sad

notsohippychick · 23/07/2019 22:25

This is really effecting your life! This level of fear of spiders isn’t normal and I’d be wanting to get myself some help ASAP. Why have you left it so long?

NoCauseRebel · 23/07/2019 22:27

I wouldn’t tolerate that. In fact I wouldn’t stay with someone who was so paranoid about creatures that are all around them as to put my health at risk.

You are being entirely unreasonable, especially as it appears you refuse to seek help and are relying on others to bend to your fears.

And of course there are spiders everywhere in your house. Are you expecting people to believe that you never get cobwebs in the corners etc? You know there are spiders in those don’t you?

Find it very difficult to have sympathy when you have no consideration for those around you. Get help if it really is that bad.

Spiders do come through open windows but they’ll come in anyway so windows stay open. Except the skylight above my head...
I hate spiders, my garage is full of them but going to have to be brave as it’s now a bit Indiana Jones in there. Anyone feel itchy reading this thread?
