Size 16 with a really horrible overhang/ apron belly. I have lovely bikini tops from Bravissimo but usually wear them under a tankini but it gets so hot on holidays! Would you??

alaska the top doesn't come in my size (34hh or 36h) but I have a plain black one from bravissimo that might be ok??

Op try next or Asos both online. You need to look for high waist specifically. The roll top ones WILL roll down with a belly

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 17:56

ah sad, but yes they would look great with a plain top also Smile

Andylion · 07/06/2019 17:58

I'm all for wearing whatever the hell you want but it gets really tiresome listening to the folk go on about a one piece making you look frumpy and fatter and boring and self conscious. Bollocks - if we're trying to tell people to wear what they feel best in putting one down to big up the other is missing the point somewhat.

I have to say I agree with this.

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/06/2019 18:01

I have Curvy Kate bikinis and an amazing Ewa Michalak one - top in a 38HH, high waisted bottoms in size 20. Fuller Figure Fuller Bust does bikini reviews every summer on her blog - she has started wearing lower bottoms now that I don’t like on me, but her older blog posts definitely have high waisted ones.

I wouldn’t wear a bikini when I was a size 10/12. I thought I would never, ever wear one in my life.

In my mid-30s, size 18-20, I came across the FFFB blog and it was a revelation. I haven’t worn a one-piece since. I feel so comfortable in a bikini! My MIL can’t get her head round it at all and is forever suggesting swim dresses to me but I will never look back now Grin.

stucknoue · 07/06/2019 18:01

I have figleaves shaping pants!

Cryalot2 · 07/06/2019 18:02

I have good legs, nose and ears. Everything fights for space in my torso .Also have dreadful skin , with psoriasis.
I wear a bikini if I want on holiday.

Wear what you want . It's no one else's business
So long as you have sun cream.
Enjoy life.

I agree with bliblibs and Andylion. I would defend any woman’s right to wear a bikini, whatever her size and shape, but I wish we could have threads like this without snide remarks being made about one-piece swimsuits. I prefer a swimsuit and on me a swimsuit is more flattering than a bikini. I don’t get overheated and I feel perfectly comfortable. The way these threads go you’d think wearing a swimming costume that doesn’t expose your stomach was akin to wearing a burkha on the beach.

Loopytiles · 07/06/2019 18:11

Captainbrickbeard, how rude of MIL!!!

flumposie · 07/06/2019 18:16

The last time I wore a bikini I must have been 13. I've suffered from prickly heat rashes all my life so wore swimming costumes to be less exposed. However at the age of 48 this thread and photos has inspired me to look for a bikini. Thanks Smile

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/06/2019 18:18

Loopy she’s lovely but just doesn’t get it! She thinks she’s being helpful, truly.

DuchessAnnogovia · 07/06/2019 18:18

I'm ALOT bigger than you, and I wear a bikini. However the bottoms are almost 'armour plated' and holds my tummy and everything in. I also sling a sarong round my waist. I don't give a fuck if people look at me Grin

ballsdeep · 07/06/2019 18:21

Wear what you want but yabu to think that a size 16 is plus size

Loooper · 07/06/2019 18:24

Haven't RTFT but hell, yes! Wear your bikini if you want to. Forget about shaping pants and one pieces and whatever, wear what you like. If you do catch some idiot looking then give them a big smile and a thumbs up.

cardibach · 07/06/2019 18:25

I’m horrified by the number of size 8/10/12 women in here who say they wouldn’t! Talk about internalised misogyny.
As has been said, a one piece doesn’t make you look thinner. Glad you are looking at bikinis OP.

PlaymobilPirate · 07/06/2019 18:28

duchess could you link to your 'armour plated' bottoms please??

I’ve just come back from a holiday, believe me so many people spent so much time looking at themselves on their phone taking selfies they didn’t even notice anyone else. All shapes and sizes out there in their bikinis.

Neckercheiftheif · 07/06/2019 18:38

Unitard? Go for it!
Bikini? Wear it!
Thong? Do it!
Birthday suit? There’s a beach out there for you!

Wear what makes you happy!

wanilamorty · 07/06/2019 18:45

You absolutely should wear one if you want to! I think it's great to see women of all shapes and sizes wear what makes them comfy, and a bikini is so much more practical than a one piece. Be confident in whatever makes you comfortable!

maddiemookins16mum · 07/06/2019 18:47

I wouldn’t. I’ve a massive tummy and boobs) and am an 18/20. Believe me, nobody wants to see me in a bikini and regardless of what MN thinks, people do bloody gawp at fat lassies in bikinis cos we look awful.

MrsZola · 07/06/2019 18:59

I'm size 16/18 and I wear a bikini on the beach. I bought bigger pants style so that I can tuck my belly in when I go swimming, but gives me the option to pull it down a bit when just loafing. I also got a tankini top and a bra top - best of all worlds, cover up when you want to, reveal a bit more when you want to.
Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in - personally, I find one piece cossies far too hot on the beach.

codenameduchess · 07/06/2019 18:59

I have one similar to this:
www.boohoo.com/plus-tropical-print-lace-up-high-waist-bikini/PZZ87902.html?color=144

Now I've been on the site I'm tempted to get this too;

www.boohoo.com/plus--crochet-insert-high-waist-bikini/PZZ92233.html

Embrace it OP, wear whatever you want and be confident! That's such a life changer, if you are confident you enjoy things so much more 😀

I vary between 12 - 16 and NEVER wear one piece swimsuits... i find the middle part over the stomach & back makes me boiling hot/sweaty & if the fabric is too loose, then also very very unflattering... I usually wear a generously-cut bikini & sometimes a sarong... DGAF what others think - I want to be comfortable... and there's ALWAYS someone bigger/skinnier/whatever...

Mamamere · 07/06/2019 20:09

Sainsburys also has some great swim stuff at the moWink
