Size 16 with a really horrible overhang/ apron belly. I have lovely bikini tops from Bravissimo but usually wear them under a tankini but it gets so hot on holidays! Would you??

Nobody is going to look any larger in a bikini than they do in a one piece.

I have a friend who is so called plus size and on appropriate beaches, she doesn’t even wear the top.

Rather sad that someone who is a size 14 seems to think they are ‘big'

Hmmm... I'm one of those "skinny"women who would feel big at 14, although I'm a size 6, body confident, though not self conscious, don't wear any makeup nor do anything to my hair other than wash and brush it. I don't feel sad about it either.

In response to the OP, go for it. As has been already said, life is short. Enjoy yourself.

Can you get high waisted pants?

ineedaholidaynow · 07/06/2019 09:25

I remember being on holiday a few years ago and I was wearing a sport type swimsuit that covered the tops of my thighs. I was in the hotel’s small indoor pool and a young German girl asked me why I was wearing that and not a bikini (DH had to translate what she said as I don’t speak German). I felt even more self conscious than I would if I had been wearing a bikini.

I bought bikinis for our next summer holiday and actually felt much happier, and realised that pretty much everyone else around me was too no matter what size, and actually you do bring more attention to yourself if you try to hide your body.

My sister is a size 12 and is always moaning about how “fat” she is. She was previously a size 8 so to her that is big.

It's all relative to height though. At 5'7" I don't look too bad at a size 14. If I was 5' I would look huge.

TapasForTwo · 07/06/2019 09:34

I'm talking about me BTW Some 5' women would look fine at a 14, but I have a small frame so the extra weight would be all fat.

myself2020 · 07/06/2019 09:35

i‘m just about 5ft. as i size 14 i would be quiet (i‘m a 10-12 in the moment).
if you are 6ft, a size 14 is perfectly normal. so, it depends

myself2020 · 07/06/2019 09:36

overweight, not quiet. silly autocorrect

Ladies you’re all looking so good I’m inspired. I’m the one with the swimsuit with the ruched “ slimming “ stomach panel but by god it gets hot and takes ages to dry. If anyone’s seen an Instagram account Helen Wears a size 18 - she had a great bikini on recently from lilyandlimeswimwear. I’m trying to attach a photo from their site. It says they ship internationally. I definitely ditching the cossie this year. Thanks ladies.

Bikinis are so much more practical than one-pieces. I hate the fact that they have just become a 'sexy' option. My daughter has to wear a one-piece for swimming with school, and I find it really annoying - the school only goes up to 7/8 year olds, so I don't see why two-pieces are a problem. At that age, they should just be able to wear the same as the boys. But I digress.

Wear the bikini. Be comfortable. Enjoy the sun.

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 12:18

Yay.. beard ,kenworthington yesqueen and jarets (Did I miss any oter bikini posters?) .. We rock bikinis!! You all look fab!

pickletickled · 07/06/2019 13:30

I'm a 12/14 but don't like my stretch marked saggy tum but still wear bikini's on holiday (also go topless on occasion) I take a cossie in case I feel like wearing one but rarely do.
There's no chance I'd go to the local pool in a bikini though.
Holiday is somehow different.

SingingSands · 07/06/2019 13:49

Best thing to accessorise a bikini with?
A smile! Grin

Honestly, life is too bloody short. Wear your bikinis ladies!

PlaymobilPirate · 07/06/2019 17:22

I'm LOVING the pics - thank you all so much! I'm spending tonight online bikini bottom shopping I think. I worry that briefs, even roll top ones, wont contain my belly though. Might stick with shorts??

Wear what ever you want! Own it! Loving all the bikini photos!

I took my baby swimming once and all bar one other mum had big t-shirts on or shorts. I was wearing a bikini, mostly because the pants covered more than my swimsuit and I hadn't tamed the old lady garden Wink

Laska2Meryls · 07/06/2019 17:44

I just sent those one backplaymobile!! They are really nice, and good quality. Definitely recommend.. there's a nice full cup bra to match . I only sent it back because I ordered two to try and bought the blue one as above instead as I like blue on me more than black with my paleness
