Size 16 with a really horrible overhang/ apron belly. I have lovely bikini tops from Bravissimo but usually wear them under a tankini but it gets so hot on holidays! Would you??

On the Med you tend to stand out more in a one piece regardless of size.

namechange123779 · 07/06/2019 21:07

Do it!!!! Please enjoy your holiday and enjoy your body 💪🏻❤️

poopypants · 07/06/2019 21:25

Can I implore you to rethink the giant pants. If you look at this woman, she looks way bigger in the big pants than she does in the small ones. Stylists are always trying to get women to understand that the eye goes to the huge expanse of material and sees a bigger area. It's the same with the top. Obviously you need to get the right support but if possible, reduce the coverage a little.

What??? What has it got to do with misogyny?
Kennehora I’d have thought it was obvious...women who are objectively very slim feel that they aren’t worthy because they don’t feel they meet a particular aesthetic. Where do you think that aesthetic comes from? You don’t have to expose anything, obviously. But the language people are using suggests it’s to do with judgement of others to me. Otherwise why care?

cardibach · 07/06/2019 21:39

Kennehora I’ve also just seen your judgement of the person CaptainBrickbeard posted.
She doesn’t ‘look bloody awful’. She looks like a woman. Why do you find that so hateful? Where is the judgement coming from?

Do it. There are lots of bigger folk out there, noone will give a shiny shite! And I can guarantee you look better than you think.

cardibach · 07/06/2019 21:57

Well, Kennehora I was responding to stuff about what I actually wrote. Your husband has a skin condition which he wants to hide. Understandable, but still sad. You are reacting very strongly to women well within the everyday range (like the pictures from CaptainBrickbeard - and I’m well aware what you were responding to). Thus, the two things are different in character. Plus, women’s appearance is policed far more than that of men, as a result of patriarchal control and misogyny. The same isn’t true for your husband, who belongs to the group with power in this situation, so probably isn’t hating his appearance based on this. It’s fairly basic stuff.
Don’t wear a bikini if you don’t want to, that’s fine. Nobody is forcing you. But please try to avoid judging other women who look perfectly normal with such violence. She doesn’t look awful. Objectively she looks like millions of other women. As will the OP. As do loads of other posters who have said they wear bikinis. As would you.
Actually, it doesn’t matter if all those people do look awful. Looks aren’t everything. In fact they aren’t relevant at all.

blibblibs · 07/06/2019 22:13

And there's more on the Med you tend to stand out more in a one piece regardless of size
Again, utter bollocks. The Med is quite a big area with hundreds if not thousands of beach, I'm sure someone in a swimming costume isn't standing out anymore than someone in a bikini, in fact having lived on a island in the Med and frequented many of its beaches I know I didn't stand out anymore in a one piece than an overweight woman in a bikini did. In fact, quite rightly no one seemed to give a flying fuck what anyone else chose to relax in.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re 20 stone or 7 stone. It’s about you feel. Whether you’re comfortable in a bikini. Some people are and some aren’t

I think this is the key. I'm 6 stone and size 4. There's no way I'd wear a bikini. Or a tankini or a one piece in fact. I avoid swimming and beaches like the plague but, if I have no choice, I wear a lycra dance skirt and swimsuit with a t-shirt on top. I'd probably look far less 'weird' in a bikini but I wouldn't feel comfortable - my collarbones, ribs and hips stick out horribly, I'm pasty white and I have loads of scars. I don't want anybody seeing that.

Personally, I don't think I'd wear a bikini even I was a 'perfect size 10', toned and tanned. I don't get the concept. People would feel embarrassed and exposed to be out in public in their underwear but lots of bikinis are the same or smaller than underwear. Yet everyone wears them. I accept I'm the weird one but I just don't get how so many people are happy to wear so little.

If you want to wear one and the only thing that is stopping you is size then I think you absolutely should. It's not about size, it's about choice and confidence.

FuckBrussel · 07/06/2019 22:56

You wear what you damn well like, my love. Have fun!

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/06/2019 23:06

Yikes, I wish I hadn’t posted the image because she’s a real person and kennehora’s comments are inexcusably, unforgivably awful. Whatever one’s opinion about the physical appearance of anyone, the glimpse kennehora has given of her personality is truly ugly. I’ll report my post and hope it comes down without the model in question seeing any of this discussion.

PrettyTricky · 07/06/2019 23:07

Everyone else will be far too busy worrying about themselves and what they look like to care about what you're wearing....so go for it.
Enjoy yourself and wear whatever you want, apart from crocs which should be banned

dementedpixie · 07/06/2019 23:13

@CaptainBrickbeard, I think the woman you posted looks fab. With boobs like that she will need support. Shame on you @Kennehora for your disgusting fat shaming comments

TapasForTwo · 07/06/2019 23:15

"And there's more on the Med you tend to stand out more in a one piece regardless of size
Again, utter bollocks"

People are posting about their own experiences. In my case, in the last few years that I have holidayed on the Med, and in Italy the vast majority of women of every shape, age and size have worn bikinis.

We tend to go to quieter resorts BTW.

ineedaholidaynow · 07/06/2019 23:19

CaptainBrickbeard I think she looks fab too, and I regret asking the question to Kennehora

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/06/2019 23:23

It wasn’t just fat shaming; she tore her apart. I follow FFFB and can imagine how hurtful it would be for her to read that. I’ve reported my own post for provoking comments very much not in the spirit. I feel terrible for posting it; I didn’t expect anyone to make cruel comments.

FrameyMcFrame · 07/06/2019 23:50

Like both those bikinis jarretsgirlfriend and kenworth

Could you tell me where they're from?
