to wear a bikini when plus size?

Size 16 with a really horrible overhang/ apron belly. I have lovely bikini tops from Bravissimo but usually wear them under a tankini but it gets so hot on holidays! Would you??

Wear what you want but fwiw you’re not quite plus sized. Also fwiw - I think that a bikini looks more flattering on a slightly overweight woman than a black one-piece that screams, “I’m trying to look thinner”.
Finally, you won’t be the biggest woman by the pool (not that it matters a jot anyway).

I’m a 12, but very wobbly saggy belly with many stretch marks. I have a tasteful bikini (high waisted) that I will wear if I go swimming in this country. But if I’m abroad I just let it all hang out! Everyone else seems to.

Just go for it. No one cares anyway.

OMG just wear what you want. Ignore people looking. Just enjoy yourself - i have put some beef on due to medication and frankly I'm just like whatever... yeah it's sad I'm not cute anymore but what should you do? Wrap yourself in a blanket?

I have a big belly so I usually go for high waist bikini bottoms which hold everything in. The rest of me is no oil painting to be honest but I want to be cool and relax on holiday. Wear what you like and enjoy yourself!

I have 34hh boobs so always buy properly fitted tops, I just find it sweaty in a full tankini or cossie!

Ywnbu as long as you feel good, why not.
No one really stares or cares and rightly so, size 16 is pretty average these days.

I didn’t wear bikinis for a few years after having children, as even though I’m slim I’m left with a wrinkly belly, stretch marks and weird belly button. However the past couple of years I have started wearing them again because my DH knows what my stomach looks and fancies me anyway and my kids certainly don’t care. Go for it OP, nobody cares and if they do then fuck ‘em, their opinions don’t matter!

Curves can look lovely sometimes. I’d not think a string and two triangles would be flattering but really big pants might not either.

If you’re confident enough then absolutely; size sixteen isn’t huge exactly. Try on lots of different designs to see which works best.

I’m a size 18 here and this is my bravissimo bikini! I have an overhang tummy but these high waist bottoms keep it sucked in! (The towel is covering the cellulite on my thighs ) can’t rate bravissimo enough and if I can wear a bikini then you definitely can.

I’m a 16/18 and only EVER wear a bikini, high waist to come up over my tum. I don’t like it under my belly or they kind of get pushed down! I look frigging HOT in a bikini and you will too, Tankinis I think are the worst- they ride up and display a circle of Tum like a fleshy doughnut! No one feels confident like that! I attach a photo of me, no make up, and POSs a bit tipsy on holiday last year in my bikini and hopefully it’ll make you feel more confident to do it too!

I wear them and am bigger than you. It means my boobs are put in a decent bra style bikini top and then I couple with a pair of big bottoms. A swimming costume won’t make me look any slimmer but at least my boobs look good 😂.

No I wouldn’t either. Since age of 40, have stuck to full swimsuit. Not hotter in them and avoids having to cream belly. I don’t sunbathe anyway - stay under brolly so don’t tan.

I’m a 14-16 and when I go to Europe I seem to be the biggest there anyway. Not sure where people are going where people are bigger.

It’s not a competition to NOT be the biggest there. Does it look attractive to you in the mirror or not? You’re decision.

Tbh when you are in a hot country it is cooler to wear a bikini rather than a full costume, I am not small but started to wear a bikini on holiday a few years ago, trust me it was highly liberating and I became aware that no-one cares, just concentrate on having a great time, some foreign ladies are quite large and don't get a side look, even the elderly wear a bikini, life's too short!

Wear what you want. As long as you are comfortable.
