Size 16 with a really horrible overhang/ apron belly. I have lovely bikini tops from Bravissimo but usually wear them under a tankini but it gets so hot on holidays! Would you??

I used to be really self conscious when I was younger and would rarely wear a bikini at a size 12 because I thought I was too fat to.

Now having a mum tum with full overhang to go with it I just think I wish I had never cared and not that I get the opportunity to much nowadays but I will wear a bikini the next time I am at a beach ,

isntthatalwaystheway · 06/06/2019 21:11

Absolutely! Go for it OP and have a lovely holiday ☀️

bebeboeuf · 06/06/2019 21:13

Listen to the baz luhrmann song - everyone’s free and you’ll feel much better about yourself

IntoValhalla · 06/06/2019 21:14

100%.
If you are comfortable in it then put it on, slap on some sunscreen and enjoy your holiday....cocktail in hand!! Wine

TraffordTansy · 06/06/2019 21:14

Isn't @BigRedLondonBus 's no as in no, you are not being unreasonable?

bebeboeuf · 06/06/2019 21:15

Ps - a pp said to wear a bikini as long as no rolls are hanging out.

I disagree - who cares? It’s skin!

My bikini bottoms might be able to contain it so far, but if I move or sit down or stand up or roll over it’s likely itl pop out.

I certainly won’t be worrying about that

Laiste · 06/06/2019 21:16

@bebeboeuf same here.

When i was young and lovely i wouldn't have been seen dead cavorting about in a bikini.

Now i'm older and with distinctly imperfect bits i don't seem to care what people think! There must be some mathematical equation going on here somewhere Grin

EdWinchester · 06/06/2019 21:17

I admire anyone that has the brio to wear a bikini if big.

But no, I wouldn't.

MuchTooTired · 06/06/2019 21:19

I’m similar in size, but personally don’t. It’s entirely my own issue (apron from c section, feel self conscious) but I do have some rather lovely swimsuits which before having kids I’d never have worn because I thought they’d be too daring - I don’t give a shit now, I feel fab wearing them!

If you feel good wearing bikini tops, go for it!

Actually I'm a size 18 and very self conscious. But I have actually bought a bikini to wear on holiday this year. the pants are MASSIVE though!

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 21:21

I run around (wobbling no doubt ) after my DGCs on the beach in my bikini on the beach here, and also go down on my own or with DH swimming.. The only comments I've ever had from others is about me being so brave diving in when the water is so cold, . ..

I rate Fantasie and Panache for well made supportive bikinis. Get a good bra size one and the mid height or fold over bottoms . Belle Lingerie are good (especially their outlet) for reasonable price bra size stuff

I am a size 18 and plan to this year - first time ever!!

Go for it!

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 06/06/2019 21:23

I follow a plus size blogger on Instagram and to summarise something she said, stop putting it off, you might never "loose the weight" or get the shape you want or the world might just implode and we won't get next summer. Wear what you want to wear! I'm much bigger than you and I would and have worn a bikini! GO FOR IT!

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 06/06/2019 21:23

I’m 34GG and a size 12/14 bottom. I’m apple shaped so my tummy gets bigger as soon as I look at food! I stress about wearing a bikini before I go on holiday and even bought a tankini last year, even though I don’t like them. Once I got on hols I just thought sod it and wore bikinis every day

I love the water and am in and out of the pool/sea all day and hate the feel of a sitting having a drink/eating lunch with a wet tankini/swimming costume drying on my stomach

This year i’m not taking a tankini, i’m just going to exfoliate and moisturise my skin, throw fake tan on (as wobbly tummies always look better when brown!) and wear my bikini

Sundancer77 · 06/06/2019 21:23

Yes! Do whatever you feel good/comfortable doing..life’s too short!

BigRedLondonBus · 06/06/2019 21:23

My no was answering if I would wear one, the op did ask Would you?? I’m a size 18 with a overhang and no way would I dare, I don’t even wear dresses in the summer (I’m jealous of those who are larger and do but I don’t have the confidence) I live in leggings and long tops but tbh if I looked like the pps who have posted pics then I would, but sadly I don’t, I’m short though

PregnantSea · 06/06/2019 21:23

You're going on holiday, you'll probably never see any of those people ever again. Just wear whatever you like and have fun!

DianaT1969 · 06/06/2019 21:25

Another vote for roll top bikini bottoms (google fold over too). They could go with your bravissimo tops. Definitely wear a bikini if you want to.

yermawyabas · 06/06/2019 21:26

I do and I have stretch marks from having large babies.

WhiteRedRose · 06/06/2019 21:27

I'm an 18/20 OP, small bust, big bum, swimmers legs and big belly. And I always wear them. I couldnt give a sh!t what anyone else thinks of me in them either 😁

I wear the higher waist bottoms with a normal short bikini top :)

QuackingDuck1985 · 06/06/2019 21:27

I'm actually on holiday at the moment.

First day today, hotel is a massive resort and it's full. I've seen hundreds of women all different shapes and sizes and ages and to my amazement I've not actually seen one swimming costume. It's actually shocked me as I ditched my costume for my bikini at the last moment and I'm actually glad I did as I would be the odd one out.

Honestly no one cares, wear your bikini with pride.

ImpracticalCape · 06/06/2019 21:30

Um yes. I do. Everyday as I live very close to a beach. No one looks or cares.

What does look awkward is the women who look desperately uncomfortable and hot while covering themselves up with all sorts of nonsense eg swimming skirts and frilly bits.

Go with it and have confidence.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/06/2019 21:30

OP, have a look at Bryony Gordon on Instagram. I am almost tempted to wear a bikini myself having seen how joyful she looks in hers!
