Size 16 with a really horrible overhang/ apron belly. I have lovely bikini tops from Bravissimo but usually wear them under a tankini but it gets so hot on holidays! Would you??

Im glad about this thread! Im a 14 on top but like good support for my boobs, 16 bottom. Ive spent forever trying to find a good underwired swimming costum but nothing fits properly. Reading this i realise im actually okay with my tummy but i hate my thighs so not sure why im obsessed with getting a costume (not going to cover my thighs!) when a bikini would probably fit better...thinking good boob support n different options for bottoms!. I know its because i think im too fat but have lost a stone so i might try some bikinis on this weekend 😯

peachgreen · 06/06/2019 21:52

I'm a size 20 and considering a (high waisted) bikini for this year - I like getting the sun on my skin and honestly, I don't go to the beach to look good, I go because I love the water! Go for it OP.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 06/06/2019 21:54

God go to italy 🇮🇹 op
Loads of mamas of every size and shape in bikinis
A deep deep tan does help us all though Smile

PissOffPeppa · 06/06/2019 21:54

Size 18-20 here and I only ever wear bikinis. Like a PP said, a swimming costume doesn’t exactly hide your figure anyway, so you might as well wear a bikini instead if that’s what you’d prefer

mondaysaturday · 06/06/2019 21:59

I wore a bikini a few weeks after giving birth and was a 14/16, still in maternity clothes with a saggy deflated belly and I really didn't give a crap.

formerbabe · 06/06/2019 22:03

Wear what you want.

Notnownotneverever · 06/06/2019 22:03

Just get the right size bottoms to hold everything in to make yourself feel comfort and go for it. The plus size girls on the Simply Be ad and the new TU Sainsburys ad looks super sexy in their bikinis.

Darkcloudsandsunnydays · 06/06/2019 22:07

Wear whatever you want.

In the immortal words of Torah Wilcox ...... apart from me and Tom everyone else can fuck of.

Be yourself.

Stravapalava · 06/06/2019 22:07

God yes, go for it OP! As long as your bikini fits nicely there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. I size up on bottoms so I don't get that "digging in / 4 bums" look!

hopelesslyromantic93 · 06/06/2019 22:09

I'm in Cyprus now, I'm a size 16/18 and wouldn't have the guts to wear a bikini as I'm not confident at all, but I've seen so many 'plus' size women wearing them and they look amazing! Just wear whatever you are most comfortable in and enjoy it!

WindsweptEgret · 06/06/2019 22:11

Would you?? No, I wouldn't personally. I'm a size 8-10 in my mid thirties and wear a legsuit.

PlinkPlink · 06/06/2019 22:12

I'm conscious about my mid section so I go for the high waisted bottoms and a nice halter neck or balconette style too.

Ywnbu to wear whatever the fuck you want because your body is beautiful. All our bodies are.

JustHereWithPopcorn · 06/06/2019 22:13

Yes go it! Size 16 is a normal size so wear your bikini and be happy and enjoy your holiday!! Grin

livin · 06/06/2019 22:14

I wouldn't but that's because I'm horribly self conscious about my apron stomach. If you're confident you'll look wonderful but if you're anything like me and would hunch and try to hide, wear something you're more comfortable in.

YesQueen · 06/06/2019 22:15

Um yes, of course!
I'm wearing a flirtelle bikini here from brastop

Tinkletwat · 06/06/2019 22:18

Go for it! Figleaves sale has just started... Worth trying Brastop too, Bravissimo have a good range but lousy sales, however if I find one I like & it fits I don't mind paying full price.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/06/2019 22:21

Wear it. Who cares what size it is, you’ve got a beautiful working body and it’s your life. Enjoy your holiday, everyone is conscious in swimwear, but on the beach you are wearing the same as everyone else. Have a wonderful holiday ☀️

vincettenoir · 06/06/2019 22:24

YNBU. Wear what makes you comfortable

MadamMMA · 06/06/2019 22:27

Yes of course you should, why should you be hot and uncomfortable

blibblibs · 06/06/2019 22:31

These threads appear every holiday season and its great that they boost the confidence of people wanting to wear bikinis. I'm all for wearing whatever the hell you want but it gets really tiresome listening to the folk go on about a one piece making you look frumpy and fatter and boring and self conscious. Bollocks - if we're trying to tell people to wear what they feel best in putting one down to big up the other is missing the point somewhat.

kateandme · 06/06/2019 22:59

my sister was your size and i can quite honestly say she is one of the most beautiful creatures ive ever seen.it beams from her.

Blondiechips · 06/06/2019 23:12

I live in a hot place (10 minutes from the beach), where the majority of women are thin and bikinied up. I would be considered a "larger lady" here (I have a definite belly, 36F boobs and a competition sized arse), but I wear a bikini (and none of this big pants and industrial strength top business)! I also go topless (if men can do it, why shouldn't I)...although I draw the line at playing beach tennis without the top, noone needs to see that 😆. Wear whatever makes you happy and keeps you comfortable!

jelly79 · 06/06/2019 23:18

Do it!

Confidence is beautiful! If you want to wear it who else matters 👊😉

Skittlesandbeer · 06/06/2019 23:51

I love the bikini bottoms with a wide fold over waist band. With good bum-coverage a la 1950’s style.

I also try and find matching sarongs (sheer mesh are good) that I can tie at my high waist point. Adds a bit more cover without going for a one piece. If it’s a short one, I’ll even wear it into the water. Usually if I’m feeling self conscious about cellulite on my thighs.

Frankly by the 3rd day of the holiday, I’m prancing around too relaxed to care. 2 things give me confidence. Firstly the truly large women who don’t give a fig and are having fun, and secondly all the women covered up on the sand, on rare expensive holidays, too embarrassed to play with their kids because they don’t fit some baloney image of womanhood they’ve been force-fed.

I really feel for them, but I don’t want to be one. They push me to be more brave and more carefree, at the same time.

stopgap · 06/06/2019 23:54

Wear what you like. I’m size 8 and very toned, but I have struggled with intermittent periods of acne breakouts on my shoulders. I used to only wear coverups, but finally ditched them a few years ago.
