Size 16 with a really horrible overhang/ apron belly. I have lovely bikini tops from Bravissimo but usually wear them under a tankini but it gets so hot on holidays! Would you??

As long as there are no rolls of fat overhanging, go for it! (I do😄)

Ronnie27 · 06/06/2019 20:50

I’m a size 6 and won’t wear anything but the most high waisted of bikinis due to stretch marks. If you’ve got the confidence then go for it, wish I did!

MaybeitsMaybelline · 06/06/2019 20:50

I always get body conscious before a holiday, the A’s others have said, the reality when you are there is that no one at all gives you a second glance, whatever your age, sex, size or shape. Really they don’t.

Wear what you are comfortable in.

dementedpixie · 06/06/2019 20:51

I wear a 36GG bikini top and size 20 big bikini pants. Nobody knows me on holiday so I don't care if I'm fat. There's always someone bigger than you

NameChangeNugget · 06/06/2019 20:51

You go for it OP Smile

HepburnKNotA · 06/06/2019 20:51

Hi OP, I'm a toned size 10 and I never wear a bikini because I'm consumed with loathing for all the horrible cherry-red dots (some of them big and juicy, ugh) all over my tummy and back... :(

Everyone has their hang-ups and if you've got the confidence or just the blooming desire to wear a bikini then why not. There will always be some who look better than you and some who look worse, no matter what their size. And on holiday, nobody really cares!

cantfindname · 06/06/2019 20:52

Personally no, but I sure as hell would admire anyone with the confidence to do so.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 06/06/2019 20:52

I'm bigger than thou and thinking of wearing a high waisted one this year for the first time. I'm nervous but also have noone to please but myself so I don't care. Team Topsy on Facebook is inspiring, the are a lot of bigger girls just going for it.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 06/06/2019 20:52

Thou - you. I'm not Sean Bean.

Thecatspyjamas27 · 06/06/2019 20:52

Absolutely yes. Get some high waisted bottoms that hold everything in. Don't feel self conscious there are all shapes and sizes on the beach!!!

firesong · 06/06/2019 20:53

Wear whatever the fuck you like! And enjoy yourself Smile

Coronapop · 06/06/2019 20:54

Debenhams have some nice (IMO) bikinis designed for 'fuller figures'.

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 20:55

Yes, and I am 61... !!
Greek beaches and our local beach here .. Let people look if they want to ,

I used to worry , but then after several Greek holidays I realised that there's always bigger and older women than me on beaches in bikinis and they simply dont worry at all , everyone's having too much fun,

redcarbluecar · 06/06/2019 20:55

Definitely - go for it!

Allhailthesun · 06/06/2019 20:55

I never understand why people think swimsuits hide anything. They really don’t and merely cover the “ offending” area in nasty Lycra drawing your eye to it.

Bikinis always look much better because skin looks much nicer than anything else.

Laiste · 06/06/2019 20:56

I'm going to say this: (and once i found peace with this i found it very liberating)

  • The only thing which would disguise your shape or size would be to go out wearing an actual proper triangular tent. You are going to look like a size 14/16/18/20/22 or what ever size you are weather you wear a one piece, a two piece, a '50s' swimsuit, 3 tiny triangles or a massive sheer 'cover up' over a tankini with a skirt down to your knees and a sarong round your ribs.

You are your size. You'll look your size. Accept it.

Wear what you like. Women creeping about trying to hide their body on the beach draw much more attention to themselves and their body than the care-free wobbly ones going about life in a nice bikini.

Here endeth the lesson.

agnurse · 06/06/2019 20:57

I wouldn't - but then I don't think bikinis are really the best for anyone.

I would suggest wearing a two-piece bathing suit. You could also get a nice one-piece with a cotton beach cover-up.

Fraxion · 06/06/2019 20:57

Life’s too short OP! Wear that bikini with pride!

Yes, this!! The ladies that have posted pics, you look amazing.

PatoPotato · 06/06/2019 20:57

Do it! As long as your confident you'll be fine Smile

I wish I could be as confident (I had twins so my skin is really floppy around the tummy area as I haven't had surgery since I lost the weight) but I think if I felt nervous I could try one of those beach kimono things?

tor8181 · 06/06/2019 20:59

i would but i cant find any tops to fit me(44 J/K) if i could i would but i wear what i want tbh any dont give a shit on people opinions

now i dont shave at all and never have(38 now)so ive spent majority of my while life this way and ive got thick black hair and very pale skin

dont stop me swimming regualrly or wearing shorts though

SignedUpJust4This · 06/06/2019 21:01

Can't believe how many saying no. Where whatever the fuck you like OP. No one gives a shit and I'm sure you will look fab. 16 is not huge. Just make sure you accessorise with a confident idgaf smile.

Oblomov19 · 06/06/2019 21:03

Always have.

user1497997754 · 06/06/2019 21:05

I have the same and when I walk on the beach or walk around in general I put on a lightweight long baggy vest type top...when I get to the edge of the sea I just take it off and leave with my sunglasses on the sand....and put back on to walk back to my sun lounger x.

Teddybear45 · 06/06/2019 21:06

Yes I would wear it. I’m smaller than you but have an overhang too - as long as that’s covered (if that’s what you want) why shouldn’t you wear a bikini?

Ninkaninus · 06/06/2019 21:09

Go ahead and wear it. Truly doesn’t matter how ‘perfect’ or not your body is - you should claim your space in the world, with pride and confidence.

Walk tall, and enjoy life.
