AIBU to think it's perfectly fine to not shower everyday?

The Loose Women were mortified when Stacey Solomon and Saira Khan revealed that they did not shower everyday....the latter only once or twice a week. AIBU To think it's fine not to shower every day? I certainly don't unless the weather's dead hot. Surely got to be good for the environment, water bills and skin to not be running the shower everyday. False vanity by the Loose Women maybe?

You’ll get your filthy arse handed to you here, OP. But I agree with you. Some people shower twice a day and it’s so bad for the environment.

IAmIronman · 22/05/2019 18:35

Ew. I would hate to not shower every day. And I would smell. Even when I'm camping I shower every morning, I just feel yucky if I don't.

bridgetreilly · 22/05/2019 18:36

Yes, it's fine not to shower every day. It's also fine to shower every day. We don't actually need to know or police other people's showering habits.

60secondfacetimer · 22/05/2019 18:37

I feel icky if I don't have a shower everyday.

Houseonahill · 22/05/2019 18:37

I agree with you OP but on MN anything less than on the hour every hour and you must smell like something that died a week ago.

RedPandaMama · 22/05/2019 18:38

I don't shower every day. I like a shower, I like a bath even more, but unless I'm sweaty or it's really hot outside I just don't need to. I don't smell. I also have awful psoriasis at the moment and washing too often really dries it out. I shower every other day and wash my hair.

Crazycrazylady · 22/05/2019 18:38

I'm not a snowflake but think it's a bit icky not to shower daily. I would definitely smell if I didn't.

LittleCandle · 22/05/2019 18:39

I don't shower if I can't - like last summer when I was in a cast, but I did wash pits and bits balancing on my crutches by the sink every single day and almost drowned washing my hair every other day under the kitchen tap. Apart from that, I am in the shower every day. It makes me feel human and I am paranoid about smelling (I don't, but you know...) because I work in a customer facing role and can be required to help people get changed.

DD1 doesn't shower every day, but that is because she has bad eczema which is made worse by lots of water, but she has a strip wash at the very least.

DD2 was a soap dodger in her teens, but seems to have improved since then. Both DDs have inherited my late MIL's sweaty Betty tendencies.

TheGoogleMum · 22/05/2019 18:40

I don't shower every day. Neither does DH. I'd tell him if he was smelly, which he is if it's been 3 days but he's usually fine to not shower every day. I know many on here will think it's disgusting and will say they can tell when other people haven't though. We both mostly wait till hair needs washing unless it's been hot or we've exercised as we know if we've been sweaty we will need a shower

Blueeyesdarkhair · 22/05/2019 18:40

Ummmm I’m thinking only once a week is not a good idea, seems a bit soap dodging to me ☹️

HundredMilesAnHour · 22/05/2019 18:41

I won't leave the house unless I've showered. Every morning without fail.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 22/05/2019 18:41

I don’t shower every day.

I think most women (being less sweaty than men) don’t need to wash every single day. If you change your underwear morning and night and wear clean clothes, what is there to smell?

I used to shower and wash my hair daily before I became a SAHM, and my hair and skin are in much better condition now it’s every other day.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/05/2019 18:42

What about people who live in houses without showers? there must be some.

ooooohbetty · 22/05/2019 18:42

I smell if I don't. Even if I have a wash and use deodorant. I'm a sweaty Betty.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 22/05/2019 18:42

Urgh washing once a week is fucking grim.

Lllot5 · 22/05/2019 18:42

I’ll probably do Monday morning Tuesday night kind of thing so what’s that 36 hours?
My hair it thick and curly drives me crazy so only wash that 2/3 times a week.
If it’s hot every day though.

AsGoodAsTinaFey · 22/05/2019 18:42

Yanbu. Showering everyday isn't necessary at all, especially as posters on here claim to wash their hair every day as well.

UPR10 · 22/05/2019 18:43

I used to wash hair and shower daily before DS was born. Nows it's every 2nd or 3rd day.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 22/05/2019 18:43

You'll get flamed here but no I don't shower every day, usually every other day but if I've had a particularly lazy weekend then it might even be a bit less than that.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 22/05/2019 18:43

Have a strip wash at the sink OP 😊

ComeOnGordon · 22/05/2019 18:44

When I was with exH I showered every day - just felt I wanted to clean myself after we’d had sex the night before or wanted to feel clean if we were going to have sex later that day.

But since he’s moved out I’ve started showering every other day and it’s absolutely fine. I’ve got a frustratingly strong sense of smell and with teenagers in the house I know what BO smells like so I’d know if I smelled of it and I definitely don’t. Wouldn’t go any longer than 48 hours tho

FudgeBrownie2019 · 22/05/2019 18:44

I sweat lots and do regular exercise so showering every morning is a necessity.

For someone who doesn't sweat much or exercise often I can imagine its less of an issue.

A friend of mine showers twice a day every day including washing her hair. That's next level crackers.

Figgygal · 22/05/2019 18:46

I couldn't not shower everyday I feel grim
I've got up to washing my hair every other day and if I know I'm wfh And no one will see me I might even go two days

mimibunz · 22/05/2019 18:46

Another one of these threads?

DarthLipgloss · 22/05/2019 18:46

I wash hair twice a week in the bath or shower, it's very long and doesn't need any more washing than that. I wash myself in the sink every day but that's it. I don't smell and look nice and clean as far as I know.
