AIBU to think it's perfectly fine to not shower everyday?

The Loose Women were mortified when Stacey Solomon and Saira Khan revealed that they did not shower everyday....the latter only once or twice a week. AIBU To think it's fine not to shower every day? I certainly don't unless the weather's dead hot. Surely got to be good for the environment, water bills and skin to not be running the shower everyday. False vanity by the Loose Women maybe?

Depends, during the week I will shower every day but at the weekend when I have no plans, I'll clean the house then have a bath around 4/5pm. If im not going out that Sunday then I won't shower til Monday morning. I probably wouldn't shower just to go to Sainsburys either but if I'm going for lunch, socialising etc then I would shower.

ethelfleda · 22/05/2019 19:23

YANBU but most people on mn think you’re a filthy scoundrel if you don’t shower at least twice a day Hmm

EmeraldShamrock · 22/05/2019 19:25

I used to work with a girl, I could smell her vagina if she wore a skirt in the summer, disgusting I know.
As long as your washing your pits and bits, hands and face daily, you can have a shower every few days.
For me it is as quick to jump in the shower to do it.

Apileofballyhoo · 22/05/2019 19:32

How do people wash their bits at a sink? Confused

1CarefulLadyOwner · 22/05/2019 19:32

If I am working I shower and wash my hair every morning. If notand I am not going anywhere or seeing anyone then it might be every other day.
Teeth, however, are cleaned twice a day regardless.

myidentitymycrisis · 22/05/2019 19:41

Askingquestionsallthetime i just came on to say I am the one who doesn't have a shower in my house.

BloodyDisgrace · 22/05/2019 19:47

I am not telling you what to do, just what I do. I shower twice a day. Otherwise I would feel not clean enough, like the skin is a bit sticky. I noticed it on other people (men) when I touched their skin. The reason for my twice a day shower is that I love it in the morning, it wakes me up and makes me feel fresh; and I love going to bed feeling clean. It also relaxes me. I use nice smelling shower products, it's a daily treat for me.

As to water bills, we don't have a meter and I would hate it. As to not showering for the environment - now here I've had it. I do think people who self-righteously not shower to save water are quite annoying. The type you see in Camden Town in London: the ones who wear a beanie hat instead of washing their hair.

starzig · 22/05/2019 19:47

Depends on the person. Some people swear more than others. Some create odour quicker than others. I have s bath twice a week sometimes 3 and an occasional shower if my hayfever is bad.

Sorry sweat, not swear.

Jinglejanglefish · 22/05/2019 19:53

I think every other day is acceptable, no more than that. I don't believe you don't smell after that unless you don't actually have sweat glands.

I think where you live can also have an impact. I used to work in east London and pollution is so bad I used to feel dirty and could feel grime on my face by the time I got to work in the morning.

Delatron · 22/05/2019 20:00

I’d just feel horrible all day if I didn’t. It wakes me up and refreshes me.
What if you exercise? A quick rinse at the sink just doesn’t cut it.

NailsNeedDoing · 22/05/2019 20:04

I don't really sweat unless I'm exercising or it's particularly hot, but i put that down to wearing deodorant every day. It would seem weird to put deodorant on top of day old deodorant, so a shower every morning it is.

WhisperingJesse · 22/05/2019 20:04

Why can't people understand that everyone is different? YOU may be smelly if you don't shower every day, but that doesn't mean everyone will. I have two teen DDs. They both shower with about the same frequency. One of them is well smelly and should shower more often. The other doesn't smell at all.

Supersimpkin · 22/05/2019 20:11

Women wonder why they get wrinkly and dry - miles better for your skin not to shower daily, and only use oil cleaners if you do. Doesn't apply to men or teens tho' (oilier).

ToldThisStoryB4 · 22/05/2019 20:15

I don't give a toss what you do as long as I don't smell you.
Went on holiday recently with a friend: she showered 2-3x/day for at least 20 minutes each time. Even or maybe especially if we were about go out for a hard cycle ride (which naturally she would shower after, too). Or just because she had some massage oil to get rid of. Ticked my wasteful boxes.

ForalltheSaints · 22/05/2019 20:17

I have consideration for others and shower daily.

SherlockSays · 22/05/2019 20:22

No I don't shower every day - I do it every other day. Getting ready in a morning for work is hard enough with a 10 month old, shower mornings are even worse. I'm too tired at night but will have a bath sometimes.

hazeyjane · 22/05/2019 20:23

Oh good another one of these threads, where mumsnetters reveal they can smell the person at the checkouts actual arse if that person hasn't showered every hour throughout the day and night, anything less than this is akin to actually sitting in a cauldron of shite.

People are fucking wierd.

altiara · 22/05/2019 20:25

There’s a difference between not showering everyday and not washing everyday!!
Eg I wouldn’t put deodorant on top of old deodorant because i’d still wash first!

SoyDora · 22/05/2019 20:25

This again!
I always wonder if the people who don’t shower every day don’t exercise? I exercise every day as per NHS recommendations, and I work up a sweat. Therefore I shower every day.

To be honest though I’d rather have wrinkly and dry skin than be unhealthy from lack of exercise. I need to shower every day due to exercise.

Ronsters · 22/05/2019 20:27

I shower every morning, wash hair every other day. I feel a bit grubby if I don't. My mum and sister only shower a couple of times a week. Neither of them smell or look unkempt. They are clean and tidy.
I think you would need to not shower for a couple of weeks to actually smell.

Averagethreebedsemi · 22/05/2019 20:27

For those who dont shower every day.... do you still was your bits daily? ...or not?

Also, are you still having intimate relations with your partners even with your parts
wellmarinated unwashed?
