AIBU to think it's perfectly fine to not shower everyday?

The Loose Women were mortified when Stacey Solomon and Saira Khan revealed that they did not shower everyday....the latter only once or twice a week. AIBU To think it's fine not to shower every day? I certainly don't unless the weather's dead hot. Surely got to be good for the environment, water bills and skin to not be running the shower everyday. False vanity by the Loose Women maybe?

Average you have asked the question I was going to ask.

I shower every day, couldn't not shower as I would feel grubby especially around my bits

Treaclepie19 · 22/05/2019 20:30

I shower everyday or every other if I've not been up to much. I have OCD though so have to try and stop myself going crazy washing.
During my period I shower every morning at minimum... and also wash my hair every time on those days (cross contamination issue...)

I shouldn't read threads like these!

RussellSprout · 22/05/2019 20:30

Average sometimes I wash my undercarriage with a jug of hot water if it's a non shower day

calpoppincalpol · 22/05/2019 20:30

😬😬😬😬 it's probably okay but I cannot imagine not having a shower each morning. It's nice to feel fresh . Plus ladies should wash your foof, pits and feet each day.

RussellSprout · 22/05/2019 20:31

Not boiling hot obvs. More like warm.

I shower everyday I couldn’t imagine not doing so. It wakes me up for a start.

Surely a strip wash at the sink takes as long as a quick shower? I’d rather have a quick shower.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 22/05/2019 20:34

I can only imagine people who don't shower every day never move! By the time I've walked to work I need a shower never mind the rest of the day. I feel grim if I don't wash every day.

AngeloMysterioso · 22/05/2019 20:35

I have eczema, if I showered every day my skin would quickly become painfully dry and sore.

Doobigetta · 22/05/2019 20:37

I feel horrible until I’ve had a shower in the morning, and if I go out in the evening I feel horrible if I haven’t had a quick freshen-up shower, which can take three minutes.
I really don’t understand the point of strip-washing at the sink instead of having a shower. It’s less effective, less convenient, less refreshing, less relaxing, colder in winter, makes more mess and can’t possibly take less time. It’s like something a kid would do thinking they’re being really cunning and have found a way of getting out of having a shower without getting told off. Why an adult would choose to do it is a mystery to me.

TheDarkPassenger · 22/05/2019 20:44

Used to go 8 days without washing my hair when I left it au naturel (a big bush)

Now I do stuff to it so wash it every other day.

By the time I’ve washed myself in a sink I might aswell have had a quick shower so therefore I shower everyday. I exercise most days though so it is defintley needed

Corrine81 · 22/05/2019 20:47

I really don’t understand morning showers, that means you get into bed every evening all sweaty and dirty from the day? It wouldn’t make more sense to shower every evening instead of every morning?

SoyDora · 22/05/2019 20:49

I exercise first thing in the morning usually so shower after that. If I showered at night I’d get sweaty overnight and then more so when I went for my morning run (for example).
Makes more sense for me to shower in the morning, after exercise.

Runkle · 22/05/2019 20:52

I just don't buy those who say they don't have 15 mins to shower (I think that's what Stacey has said?). Bet they have time to check their phone, be on SM etc and it's certainly much quicker than washing in the sink.

BillywigSting · 22/05/2019 20:52

I'm a sweaty mare (as in armpits damp by midday even with strong antiperspirant sweaty) so I really do need to shower every day. I sweat a lot at night too, sometimes wake up unpleasantly damp so night showering is out.

Dp on the other hand can easily go two days before showering, he doesn't sweat, he doesn't stink and his hair doesn't get greasy lucky fucker

AlaskanOilBaron · 22/05/2019 20:53

Seriously, how does this work in with pooing and armpits? I poo around 8am every morning, then work out, then shower, and presto I feel amazing.

I would be so unhappy without a shower.

Getthepetwet · 22/05/2019 20:56

I also wanted to ask how does not showering everyday work if you're in a relationship? Like, do some people not wash before or after sex? I always shower on an evening, as I wouldn't want to be intimate with dh otherwise. Then I shower again in the morning as I couldn't just get up for the day and go out without washing off "the night before" 😳 surely!? I can't imagine having sex unwashed, and then going out the next day again, unwashed. Dh showers twice a day too, are we odd for doing this?! I don't understand how else people are having sex during these shower free days. The only time we aren't intimate, is when I'm on my period, so washing morning and night is 100% necessary anyway. And I don't understand this strip wash thing? Is it literally taking all your clothes off, and rubbing your body with a flannel without getting in the shower? Surely you might as well just get in the shower? Does it actually get you properly clean? Does the floor not get really wet? Do you use soap/wash too, or literally just water? Hot water? I'm not judging anyone's way of doing things, I'm just really intrigued, as I can't comprehend it!

Drogosnextwife · 22/05/2019 20:58

Well I don't know why the others would be embarrassed by them not showering every day Hmm.
I have a bath every night because I like to feel nice and fresh when I go to bed and saves me showering in the morning.

Hey I take exception to that .....I'm no sweaty butt troll 😁 Just genuinely keen to know where most people stand on the matter. If I thought I whiffed, I'd wash. TBH up at 6am, bed at 11.30pm....bloody wacked and little time to scrub more than is necessary! Seems like a 50/50 split. Will have menopause next couple of years - expecting that may force habits to change somewhat!

That’s completely normal Getthepetwet, I don’t understand this either.

Maybe people aren’t exercising/ having sex. But still sometimes I have two showers, one when I get up and then if I exercise later. I can’t fathom how you could get away with having one every other day or less.

Drogosnextwife · 22/05/2019 21:00

I don't really care how often other people shower, unless they are filling a room with their bo, like the 2 people in a loft with me the other day.

Hopeygoflightly · 22/05/2019 21:00

YANBU - it’s not healthy to shower or bathe every day.

Delatron · 22/05/2019 21:01

It’s perfectly healthy to shower every day! My skin is fine.

Hopeygoflightly · 22/05/2019 21:02

AlaskanOilBaron That’s hilarious! What if you take a shit at other times of the day? Do you shower then too?? Use loo paper FFS.
