I left a sanitary towel in my knickers...

Okay. As the title suggests... (also name change!)

Maybe this is gross for some? But for me I don't think so at all!

I have just started my period. It's very, very light, so I've just been wearing a panty liner.

Anyway cut a long story short, I was really poorly yesterday and had to come home form work with a migraine. I got changed in the bathroom and had a shower. I just picked up all my clothes and threw them in the laundry bin when I got out. Obviously forgetting to take my liner out of my knickers to dispose of.

So, today I'm back at work and receive a shitty text from my dp about it. Saying how disgusting it is and 'what the hell ' etc. I felt mortified!! So embarrassed. But at the same time, when I got home, he'd left all my clothes in the laundry bin, and I obviously took the liner off straight away to dispose. There was barely anything on it- I mean perhaps a ten pence piece of a very light cycle.

Am I being U?? It was a mistake and not like I leave them lying around everywhere. It's just a period for goodness sake, it's not like I've got the plague!! It's made me feel really shit about myself?! But why!

He’s a prick. Does he not have a lot of experience with vaginas or something?

RedHelenB · 21/05/2019 20:45

Are his boxers always imnaculate when they go in the wash? My ex wouldn't gave made a fuss about it if that had happened when he was doing the washing.

Treaclesweet · 21/05/2019 20:46

He's a dick. Have you lived with him long? Red flag for me, I would not want to raise a daughter with someone who thought a natural part of a woman's body was disgusting.

Femalebornandbreed · 21/05/2019 20:47

Oh god I thought your were about to say at the gym or something.

Your DP is being a dick

AlwaysCheddar · 21/05/2019 20:48

Your dp is a prick.

Snazzygoldfish · 21/05/2019 20:48

What a twit he's being! Hope your heads better x

forkfun · 21/05/2019 20:49

Ridiculous! You are a woman. You have periods. He needs to be a grown up about it.

RuggerHug · 21/05/2019 20:49

I assumed this was going to be 'have I ruined my washing machine, realised after the cycle started!'.

He's being a dick. Start crying BIOHAZARD any time you see his boxers looking anything less than...fresh.

EL8888 · 21/05/2019 20:50

He needs to chill out! It’s an easy mistake to make, especially if you were under the weather. It’s not as if you did a poo in the laundry basket. I bet he’s never put a foot wrong?!

juneybean · 21/05/2019 20:50

I did this in front of a 16 year old boyfriend and he shrugged. So if a 16 year old boy can get over it then I'm sure your adult dp can too.

brokenpromisesorlies · 21/05/2019 20:50

What a knob!

Goodenough06 · 21/05/2019 20:51

I had an ex boyfriend who used to make me take my used sanitary products downstairs and wrap them up, then put them in his kitchen bin. He said it was disgusting and rude to expect his cleaner to have to empty the bathroom bin with them in Hmm
He's an ex for many MANY reasons!
A man who makes you feel disgusting for something beyond your control is not worth your time.

Lovelydovey · 21/05/2019 20:51

Apologise and confirm it was a mistake. Tell him he overreacted and if he really wasn’t capable of removing it, he should have left your knickers to one side, but no need to make a big deal or refuse to wash anything else.

MangoFeverDream · 21/05/2019 20:53

Yeah, it’s gross but he’s your partner. He’s being VU here

Lollypop701 · 21/05/2019 20:53

It’s not intentional??? You were ill! He needs to get a grip, or all other services provided by said disgusting part of my body would be off limits!

3brightstars3 · 21/05/2019 20:53

Poor you having a partner like that.

We should not be embarrassed about our bodies

AguerosAngel · 21/05/2019 20:53

Your DP is being an arse! It’s a sanitary towel with a bit of menstrual blood on it, does he not know about periods?

Don’t allow him to make you feel bad about it OP, I’ve done the same thing myself and DH found it, he just wrapped it in kitchen roll and disposed of it. No big deal.

SeaWitchly · 21/05/2019 20:53

I think his attitude is awful tbh and I echo a PP who wouldn’t want to raise a daughter with a man who thought a used sanitary towel was disgusting.

AudTheDeepMinded · 21/05/2019 20:54

For God's sake don't apologise. You're basically saying sorry for being female (in that you bleed). Tell him to fuck off if anything. My DH would put it in the bin, do the washing, and ask if I needed chocolate. That's a REAL man!

H2OH20Everywhere · 21/05/2019 20:54

When I used tampons I'd put them in the bathroom bin and then, when my period was finished, they'd go on a fire in the garden. More than once I handed the bag to DP as he was going outside. He knew fine well what was in it, could probably see blood through the plastic, but never once flinched.

When we were students I slept in his bed one night and my period came on. I bled all over his duvet cover. He didn't mention it to me.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 21/05/2019 20:54

He sounds like a man child. If my DP pulled a stunt like that she would get an earful. Awful childish behaviour.

FabulouslyGlamourosFerret · 21/05/2019 20:54

Haha! My male lodger and I used to share a washing basket, I did exactly the same as you - but it went through a hot wash, as lodger was shaking my pants to put them on the line the bloated but thankfully now clean towel exploded covering him in the absorbent gel crystals!

He got over it!

Celebelly · 21/05/2019 20:55

He's a knob.

AudTheDeepMinded · 21/05/2019 20:56

I actually use washable STs. My husband picked one out of the basket (a stray one, I normally keep them separate) and just said 'How do I wash these then, do they need to go separately? No Drama, no shock!

Sux2buthen · 21/05/2019 20:56

@Goodenough06 yeah actually, as a cleaner I appreciate your ex's point. Even cleaning women's toilets you have special bins for them.
