Furry Wedding Invitation

DP and I have been invited to a Furry wedding. For those of you that don't know, furries like to dress as anthropomorphized animal characters; I think the bride is an ocelot or something. According to the invite, dressing in costume is 'preferred' (not sure if the pun was intended). AIBU to be reluctant to spend a day surrounded by a group of fur-suited wedding guests? Particularly as neither DP or I have any interest in dressing up ourselves.

I'm happy to go and pretend to be you!

Thehop · 12/05/2019 10:30

Oh gosh! If I was close to them I would but otherwise I’d decline x

Chilledout11 · 12/05/2019 10:30

I wouldn't go if I wasn't into it buy it might actually be good. You could wear a black jumpsuit and tail and cat mask (so you would only have to put them on once you get there)

PurpleDaisies · 12/05/2019 10:30

Interesting first ever post.

YouTheCat · 12/05/2019 10:31

Buy some cat ears.

LakieLady · 12/05/2019 10:31

I think it sounds like great fun!

HBStowe · 12/05/2019 10:31

Oh god, a friend of a friend is a furry and had a furry wedding. Each to their own as long as they aren’t hurting anyone, but I find it deeply weird myself.

I would be sending a card and sadly having prior plans for the day myself!

Amazing Grin

RattyTat · 12/05/2019 10:32

Seriously? A furry wedding. I can't imagine anything worse.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/05/2019 10:32

Beware Whiskas for the wedding breakfast.

RattyTat · 12/05/2019 10:33

Furries terrify me. I think I'd throw myself down the stairs before to have a good excuse not to go before I'd attend a furry wedding.

NoSauce · 12/05/2019 10:38

Is this a thing? Shock

GarthFunkel · 12/05/2019 10:39

Sounds very ... sweaty.

PositiveVibez · 12/05/2019 10:41

londonrach · 12/05/2019 10:46

I've been to a star wars wedding (it was a costumed one) where the couple were dressed as Jedis. It takes all sorts, not for me to judge.

If you're not comfortable with it, can you decline? If you can't decline (i.e. close family member) then I'd just turn up in regular clothes since costume doesn't seem mandatory.

rupple · 12/05/2019 10:50

In the summer?

BornInAThunderstorm · 12/05/2019 10:50

You really cannot pass up this invitation, it sounds fantastic. How do they all plan to eat their wedding lunch with their costumes on? They are definitely all going to end up very sweaty too

SammySamSam09 · 12/05/2019 10:51

Yes I would definitely be too busy to attend that day Grin

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 12/05/2019 10:52

@RattyTat

A colleague recently went to a funeral. The deceased wanted everyone to dress up. Colleague went as a pirate. Apparently the funeral was “hillarious”... colleague is a huge fantasist and we are yet to assert sin if this is even true

Fruitbatdancer · 12/05/2019 10:52

Blimey. Every day is a school day. I want to go, I’d go for you! I’d roll with it and have fun- it’s the kind of stuff you can dine out on for years to come!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 12/05/2019 10:52

Please go and take photos! Grin

lidoshuffle · 12/05/2019 10:52

Maybe they're having you on. Yyou roll up as an armadillo or something, and everyone else is in morning suits.
