Furry Wedding Invitation

suze1080 · 12/05/2019 10:29

DP and I have been invited to a Furry wedding. For those of you that don't know, furries like to dress as anthropomorphized animal characters; I think the bride is an ocelot or something. According to the invite, dressing in costume is 'preferred' (not sure if the pun was intended). AIBU to be reluctant to spend a day surrounded by a group of fur-suited wedding guests? Particularly as neither DP or I have any interest in dressing up ourselves.

tbh, knowing how much some of those furry costumes cost, the bespoke wedding dress would be cheaper!

HoppingPavlova · 12/05/2019 11:48

Uhhm, how do they eat/drink in the costumes???

Eustasiavye · 12/05/2019 11:49

Are they saying their vows dressed like that?
Is it legal? It could be anyone in that outfit.

SerenDippitty · 12/05/2019 11:58

From the thread title I thought you’d been invited to something like this

Furry Wedding Invitation
S1naidSucks · 12/05/2019 12:00

Oh CasperGutman, you have made me laugh. I dare say you’re the type of person who thinks if they turn up in gimp masks, leather thongs and a chain and collar, that’s ok too.

People can be as weird and kinky as they like in the privacy of their own home or fetish club, but when they start trying to involve others in their kink, that’s just nauseating and wrong.

Binglebong · 12/05/2019 12:07

Would you go to a gimp suit wedding? This is their version. It just seems more innocent.

For the record I'm fine with furries, gimp suits and anything else. In private where all parties are fully aware of the situation. This seems to have been snick on and dressed up as fun, not sexual.

Binglebong · 12/05/2019 12:08

Snuck in*

suze1080 · 12/05/2019 13:45

Apparently it is just me who has no interest in dressing up. DP has come round to the idea and is currently googling cow onesies.

What the hell??

Only way you’d get me attending is if I was unconscious.....

Sparklesocks · 12/05/2019 13:50

The only experience I have of furries is that they hounded Tony the Tiger (brand account) off Twitter after constantly sending him explicit messages about their attraction to him!! The brand couldn’t cope and abandoned the account. Gross!

MammaSchwifty · 12/05/2019 13:51

Sounds amazing! So much more fun (and maybe more comfy?) than the uncomfortable dress/high heels/skin coloured tights/ugly fascinator combo that's the norm.

Just don't think about the sex side of it and have fun!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 12/05/2019 13:54

‘DP is currently googling cow onesies’ this had made me laugh so much after a shitty morning!! Thank you for nothing else other than the entertainment!

I think it’s odd. Very odd. Not sure I would go. Surely they aren’t expecting everyone to be on board with it? However if DP finds said cow onsie you might have to suck it up. If nothing else it will be a great story to tell. Please come back with photos if you do go.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/05/2019 13:54

There is quite a lot of animal print around this year. I'd be tempted to go in a print dress and maybe take a pair of ears in my handbag.

There must be grandmas and great-uncles who won't be doing this?!

MitziTheTabbyIsMyOverlord · 12/05/2019 13:55

Not only would I sooooooooo be there, I've already started mentally designing my outfit.

Can I go in your place, OP? Pleeeeeeeease. No one will know it isn't you standing next to the chap in the cow onsie!

LittleAndOften · 12/05/2019 14:02

Please wear this!

saveforthat · 12/05/2019 14:05

Seren. I also thought dog wedding.

S1naidSucks · 12/05/2019 14:09

I really really wouldn’t want to be unconscious in the presence of a group of fetishes. 😲

Dyrne · 12/05/2019 14:10

Yeah... this isn’t just fancy dress, people. Make sure to decline if someone invites you to “yiff” 🤢

MrsMoastyToasty · 12/05/2019 14:11

Is it "let's pretend to get married" in furry outfits or a real legal ceremony performed by a legally recognised celebrant? ...

wellballstoyou · 12/05/2019 14:12

been to a team punk wedding , which at least meant looking nice. But this is new to me !

Id be declining. So whats all the older releatives wearing? I cant see great auntie sue or grandparents doing this lol!

breakfastpizza · 12/05/2019 14:13

Would you attend other sexual fetish events? A BDSM wedding?

user1474894224 · 12/05/2019 14:14

@suze1080 you are hilarious. Fyi I have a Dalmatian onesie I can lend you if you choose to go. (That makes me sound like some sort of furry too....I'm not but I went to a Disney themed party.)

Dyrne · 12/05/2019 14:15

Seriously, I would genuinely check what you’re consenting to if you decide to wear a costume...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/05/2019 14:17

And if you do, just make sure you are sewn into your costume. This is a sex fetish thing!

ANewDawn10 · 12/05/2019 14:18

What a bunch of weirdos. I would decline and not indulge this nonsense.
