Furry Wedding Invitation

suze1080 · 12/05/2019 10:29

DP and I have been invited to a Furry wedding. For those of you that don't know, furries like to dress as anthropomorphized animal characters; I think the bride is an ocelot or something. According to the invite, dressing in costume is 'preferred' (not sure if the pun was intended). AIBU to be reluctant to spend a day surrounded by a group of fur-suited wedding guests? Particularly as neither DP or I have any interest in dressing up ourselves.

True - between consenting adults and all that. I don’t consent to be involved by being the audience!

LittleLongDog · 12/05/2019 17:39

I would be very tempted to go just for the drama. But overall I’d have to decline.

This is not the same as a Star Wars dress up theme - this is about sex.

I feel especially weird about the nans and grandads and great aunts as innocent guests.

SuePerbly · 12/05/2019 17:40

I agree totally. Bloody grim. Can't imagine how sweaty they must get in their suits. Which makes it even worse somehow. Bleurgh!

greenlynx · 12/05/2019 17:57

I would check if it’s a child free wedding. If not, it’s probably safe to attend.
I personally won’t go. I have allergy on fur. Who knows how authentic some people could be....

Bestfootforward1 · 12/05/2019 18:04

Those photos are gonna give me nightmares! Grin

ReapersHowler · 12/05/2019 18:13

Who knows how authentic some people could be....

Have you seen fursuits? They're usually £3K+ neon wolf monstrosity!

Herland · 12/05/2019 18:28

I just don't get this. They look cute. And not real. It's like wanting to shag a Teddy bear. I'm so confused by the world right now.

RandomlyChosenName · 12/05/2019 18:32

Not sure Princess Leia dress up is entirely innocent either...

SmellsLikeAdultSpirit · 12/05/2019 18:35

My gay friends no longer take part in Pride. They have said for the last few years that it has been taken over by straight white men and fetishits

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/05/2019 18:53

And straight (but not quite sure) yoof attempting to be cool.

S1naidSucks · 12/05/2019 18:59

Thanks for that! Not everyone who has a kink or fetish is weird. What is weird is playing it out in public.

My point is, they’re fucking weird for playing it out in public. That, in my opinion, takes it right up to the levels of perversion. I couldn’t care less what goes on between CONSENTING adults, but playing it out in public is a perversion that no one has consented to. It’s just gross.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/05/2019 19:05

Like the man who paid a woman to lead him around Victoria station on a dog lead on all fours. Being humiliated in public was part of his kick - I can only assume it was a sexual thing.

Leeds2 · 12/05/2019 19:06

I would let DH go by himself. In his cow onesie costume.

TSSDNCOP · 12/05/2019 19:10

im so pleased you wrote that Herland I just don’t get it. What is the kink in this? I get BDSM, being led around etc

This is like Sylvanian families for big (can’t bring myself to write adult) people.

S1naidSucks · 12/05/2019 19:12

Ironically, LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD if a child reported that their parents do that in their own home, in front of the child, SS would contacted. Do it in public, in front of children and we’re all supposed to respect the creeps rights to expression.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/05/2019 19:14

Yup. Lucky it wasn’t on a day I was commuting though there with DS (he has an issue with people dressing up and pretending to be someone/thing else). Also lucky doggo didn’t need a pee. I wonder if they’d be let him be taken into the WH Smith’s (they only let guide dogs on there).

Serin · 12/05/2019 19:15

OMG, this thread has reminded me of the trauma of turning up at a "campX" event years ago. That I had booked in error (thinking it yo be a camping exhibition).
We rocked up with 3 preteens in tow to be greeted by men in PVC wearing dog collars
In a "sniffer dog" vanShock.
I dont know who was more horrified, me and DH or the organisers who must have thought blimey what sort of perv brings their DC along. Blush

Hutchismo · 12/05/2019 19:16

How do you titillate an ocelot?
.
.
.
.

You oscillate its tit a lot.

S1naidSucks · 12/05/2019 19:17

Serin 🤣

TSSDNCOP · 12/05/2019 19:25

Oh god Serin you can’t stop there. What happened next?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/05/2019 19:27

We want photos!

Hopeygoflightly · 12/05/2019 19:28

Amazing!!!! You have to go. Life’s so ordinary, so routine most of the time, how the heck can you turn this down!?? Just wear normal clothes.

Hopeygoflightly · 12/05/2019 19:30

Personally i’d Be tempted to go and Sonic the Hedgehog...

CripsSandwiches · 12/05/2019 19:30

I thought the furry thing wasn't sexual or at least not purely sexual for most people. They just like dressing up as animals? It's definitely weird as hell but I don't think it's perverted anymore than anyone who does cosplay or any other fancy dress type event (e.g. renaissance fairs etc).

I personally can't stand dressing up but it would make for a less dull wedding so I'd be torn.

Serin · 12/05/2019 19:38

It was going dark and DS had a boat race the next day and it was nearly 200 miles home!
DH (teacher 🙄) got out of the car to talk to an organiser (at least we think he was an organiser as he was wearing a T shirt that said "member of STIFF" on the back) and explained that we had obviously booked by mistake but had no where else to stay. They let us stay and we all agreed it was best if we stayed on the far end of the site ie many acres away.
DC wanted to explore and I'm sure they were aware that something wasnt quite right. I have nightmares that one day they will have an awakening and think "shit" they took us to a fetish weekend.
