To ask if you've ever been banned/barred from anywhere?

Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

Got caught DTD at Flamingo Land and barred for life by security 😬 I was brave enough to return a few years later without any repercussions

usernamepinched · 10/05/2019 09:49

Nope

Stormwhale · 10/05/2019 09:53

I was barred from a kebab shop for complaining about absolutely shit service. We ordered a takeaway, explaining that my dp (now Dh) is allergic to cheese, so no cheese on the burger, etc. The order arrived and not only have they made his a cheeseburger, they even added cheese on all the chips without us asking. There was basically nothing he could eat.

We asked them to change it, they got really stroppy about it. This was about 6.30pm. They said they would send a driver, and we better not eat any of it or they wouldn't take it. I phoned repeatedly between then and about 10pm, then gave up as they clearly weren't coming and binned the food. They arrived at 11.45pm, demanding the food very aggressively, we had a row on the doorstep and I was banned for life.

I got chucked out and banned from a little cafe in our local village, dont want to give too many details but basically there was a huge event and the owner was having a meltdown as she couldn’t cope and I got in the way. Unfortunately I had 7 year old DD with me at the time and she was very distressed which made me extremely angry. As my dc will tell you my anger is more quietly menacing rather than shouty so I told her I was going to ruin her business- I did and she sold not long afterwards.
So I’m not banned anymore and I probably did her a favour as she really couldn’t cope with running a cafe

DoneLikeAKipper · 10/05/2019 09:56

I once got banned from MN. Well, that’s a slight exaggeration, I was put in time out for troll hunting (I was bloody right though). Not a PBP just to be clear, I said my sorrys like a good girl and was let back on Grin.

ImpracticalCape · 10/05/2019 09:59

I was banned from all the pubs in Edinburgh about 18 years ago.

I have returned several times wearing a disguise (old age)

mawof3soontobe · 10/05/2019 10:03

@Prinstress I've also been banned from a particular caravan site for DTD in a what we thought was a discreet and quiet manner in a swimming pool cubicle Blush I was also banned from my local tesco as id been in primark beforehand, put my brown bag in the trolley and was accused of trying to steal a £6 pair of slippers! Highly embarrassing and the security was not having any explanations or receipts!

I was rather gutted, particularly as, like you, I was right!

I was also banned from another similarly named forum, I think I forgot the 'hun lolz xxx'

NamelessGem · 10/05/2019 10:11

Banned from our local post office as kids because my friends parents had a fruit and veg shop, as did this post office branch and my friend (!!) walked around critiquing the state of their produce. I was an innocent bystander ! (Although did Titter at a few of her observations)

Same friend also got me (and herself) banned from a nightclub a few years later as she revealed she’d stolen a jacket underneath her jacket !! The bouncers spotted this and chased us, banned for life. She kept the jacket (it was a cheap denim thing with nothing in the pockets)

Didn’t phase me too much as the club soon went bust (did a lot of £1 a drink nights so hardly surprising) and a new one took over. Another best pal of mine was chucked out for smoking in the upstairs cocktail area ...

I’d like to add, all my friends parents thought of ME as the bad influence ! In fact their kids were always the naughtiest fuckers, I was too scared of my dad to behave so badly ....(Although didnalways end up getting told off anyway!)

roundligament · 10/05/2019 10:14

Banned from the local Audi dealer for calling them out on being so shit

FaFoutis · 10/05/2019 10:14

I used to get banned from pubs for being a goth. Then I got banned from Wales for living in a bus.
I have been to Wales since and nobody noticed.

DS1s primary school for the last week of P7.

Head had been told I'd called her school a shithole online in a comment to another school Mum. I told her no, I'd called it a shitshow and given the reasons why.

She said she thought we'd had a good relationship, I told her I had no idea what gave her that idea since she'd completely wrecked the plan old head and I had had for DS1 since P1, completely dismantled the inclusion between the mainstream and unit as standard and separated the two completely, and that her language around ASN and attitude towards children with ASN was appalling.

Still not sorry.

DirtyDennis · 10/05/2019 10:18

I got banned from a nightclub for headbutting a bloke on the dance floor who was trying to grope me. He got banned too. We had a bit of a row on the street outside and my friend ended up going home for an ONS with him Shock

I got banned from a kebab shop because another friend (not me, I was sober) projectile vomited blue WKD all over about seven tables and twenty five customers after a night out.

I got banned from a student union (not mine, I went to visit a friend at university) for calling a toff a "posh cunt" and pushing him into a rose bush.

darkriver19886 · 10/05/2019 10:22

Got banned by two forums.

  1. first one for sticking up for a vulnerable person on a mental health forum. I was part of admin at the time but, couldn't tolerate the bullying from other admin.

  2. Can remember the other one.

SpamChaudFroid · 10/05/2019 10:22

Not me, but FIL is banned from loads of restaurants around this area because of his horrible treatment of waiting staff. Pompous twat.

Laniakea · 10/05/2019 10:24

Mixed hockey team at university.

(I was (a lot) more intoxicated than was typical for mixed hockey)

BitchyArriver · 10/05/2019 10:25

ImpracticalCape PLEASE tell me how you got barred from every pub in edinburgh! Grin

MadisonAvenue · 10/05/2019 10:25

I was banned from Adams children's clothes shops, they've long gone from the high street though so perhaps they should've heeded my advice.

My local store (small town with very little variety when it comes to shops) had a huge section of clothing for girls in a variety of colours and styles yet the section for boys was a bit of an after thought along one wall and I complained. I was told they'd look into improving the range supplied to that store and when nothing had improved a year later I queried this.

I was sent a gift voucher and an apology so went in to spend it, handed it over at the till and the assistant called for the manager while processing the sale. The manager then told me that I was banned.

whifflesqueak · 10/05/2019 10:28

My friend got a lifetime ban from a local softplay because she told the (hungover, disinterested) staff what a shambles it was.

They said never come back.
She said yeah... obviously I won’t!?

pink412 · 10/05/2019 10:31

A friend got banned from Australia for importing certain items. They worked are cabin crew so they also lost their job at the same time. Very stupid of them and serves them right to think they would not get caught.

beenandgoneandbackagain · 10/05/2019 10:31

I got banned (along with my child) from my child's sports club.

One of the trainers deliberately blocked my car in the car park because there were no other spaces and he thought himself too good to park on the street with the plebs, so I called him a wanker. (He could have parked elsewhere on the car park without blocking a car but he decided to abandon his car as close to the entrance as possible)

In that particular club the trainers were treated like Gods because they had once breathed the same air as some bloke who won bronze in the Olympics a decade or so earlier . . . . .

frankie001 · 10/05/2019 10:31

I got banned from a slow cooker Facebook recipe page. I’m hard me.

puma84 · 10/05/2019 10:36

Giggling at a few of these Grin

Jellybeansincognito · 10/05/2019 10:36

I’m currently banned from (the other side of parenting forums 😅)
People get away with being so personally rude there, I defended myself and got IP blocked.
(It was one swear word, beginning with c that I called someone for this) massive overreaction on the sites terms.

Anyway! I’m quite liking it here 😊

Whitelisbon · 10/05/2019 10:39

I got banned from one soft play for going down the slides at 41 weeks pregnant. I was told not to come back until after I'd had the baby Grin

Told to leave from another soft play after I ordered a black coffee, and was given white. 4 times. Told the woman serving me she was an imbecile, and what part of black did she not understand? Manager heard, gave me a black coffee in a take away cup and told me to leave. I've never been back. Possibly because we were on holiday at the time and it's 4 hours away, but, anyway...
