To ask if you've ever been banned/barred from anywhere?

Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

Completely outing to anyone who knows me, but I got barred from a pub on Oxford Street about five years ago because my friend and I drunkenly attempted to steal their (fully decorated) Christmas tree... by grabbing it and running down the road

I actually burst out laughing when I read that. Did you see the news today about people stealing mattresses from hotels? And in one, case a grand piano!

BlaueLagune · 09/12/2019 16:28

I used to go into Martins newsagents when I was about 10 and stand and read all their paperback books for ages. One of their sales assistants used to shoo me away but I never got banned.

FthisS · 09/12/2019 16:34

Banned from the church playgroup when was youngest was a toddler because according to the vicars wife I had complained about my neighbour playing the flute Confused.
Also banned from netmums years back because I somehow got myself a stalker who started many threads about me and how she loved me etc. They accused me of bullying. I have never been back.

Isithometimeyet0987 · 09/12/2019 16:55

I’m banned from a few places back home I Northern Ireland. I was banned from a local taxis firm for arguing with the owner over how much the fair was, he got my number blocked by the firm (small local one) but because it’s a small firm some of the drivers where my dads friends so I just called their normal phone and got taxis that way.
I also got banned from a nightclub in belfast because my friend threw up over the bouncer (still think it’s u fair we all got banned)
Also got banned from another nightclub in Dublin because they found out our fake id was fake (id was the best 20quid I spent until they took it off me, it always worked in belfast and banbridge)
Also banned from the library in the town where I’m from for running around it in a cardboard ambulance shouting neenaw with 3 friends - apparently you can’t practice the drama parts of your English GCSE in the library ... who knew?
All of this happened about 7 years ago when I was 16/17 I moved to London and have lived here nearly 5 years and haven’t been banned from anywhere 🤷‍♀️

Sagradafamiliar · 09/12/2019 17:54

Banned from a caravan park for drunkenly trying to get into a show home thinking it was 'my' caravan however it wasn't enforced as I stayed for another few days.

Banned from a small country for refusing both the ambassador and another one of the top guys (without being too outing) as a teenager while living abroad in a different country, although I've no intention of going to the first country, ever.

@Hoppinggreen you sound like a piece of work. I wouldn’t be proud of ruining someone’s livelihood.

YellowSubmarine94 · 10/12/2019 00:05

@Hoppinggreen, Your daughter will grow up to be SO proud that her mother ruined a woman's livelihood Hmm

If you own a business, I hope somebody comes along and does the same to you too.

DH managed to get himself banned from Morrisons... He got frustrated by the self service tills and walked out with his shopping.

Shockers · 10/12/2019 00:16

I was banned from a local restaurant for tipping the man on the next table’s pasta dish over his head.

He deserved it- he was rude, sexist and threatening.

They let me back in (with a friendly wink) the following week. We used to go there after clubbing every weekend.

managedmis · 10/12/2019 00:25

Do you realise barring doesn't exist in other countries? I just asked DH if people are ever barred in Canada and he was like Confused no

LeSquigh · 10/12/2019 00:39

I have very recently been banned from a large group of casino websites for taking too much money. I was up on the house and they didn't like it so they banned me for using too many bonuses (that they offered me!) and converting that to real funds and withdrawing it. If its there you do it right? I was spending quite a lot of time on those sites and was wagering through a lot of money. I wasn't raking it in or making enough to give up work but I was consistently taking maybe £500-800 a month more than I put in so it was a nice bonus every month. I am going to miss that until I can find a decent alternative but it is saving me a lot of time Smile!

Sagradafamiliar · 10/12/2019 00:41

Yes I realise that, without having to ask a man, mis.

Who rattled your cage?

Should have added he's Canadian.

Wouldn't want to step on any delicate feminist toes now.

Sagradafamiliar · 10/12/2019 00:58

😂

SploshMeBackwards · 10/12/2019 01:15

My friend got barred from Asda. He was at the self service checkout, having a sensory overload (he's autistic). Something didn't scan but he genuinly hadn't realized until security asked to check his bag and receipt. My friend handed it over with no problem and the security guard was an absolute twat about it. My friend offered to pay for the item there and then (it was a £3 item ffs) but he weren't having any of it and barred him.
Both convinced he's been looking for an excuse to bar him for months as he would always follow him about and got really annoyed when my friend bought a certain toy which was last on the shelf, but the gaurd wanted it for his child. Idiot.

charis · 10/12/2019 01:31

Mine was barred from Canada though... 😐

Needmoresleep · 10/12/2019 01:42

I was banned from Lloyd's pharmacy two decades ago. I have not been back.

I had a very sick baby who was on a special order medication, details of which Lloyd's held. The locum pharmacist not only took a two hour lunch break leaving a whole shop full of people waiting but had lost the details of the medication my baby needed and tried to palm me off with some other drug altogether. I said that was ridiculous, I was only prepared to give a small and scarily sick baby the medication prescribed by the hospital specialist. He got really angry and banned me.

It's my nearest chemist, but if I ever have a prescription I walk past to the next nearest pharmacist who seem happy to have my custom.

LadyCordeliaVorkosigan · 10/12/2019 08:01

Got kicked out of a pub in my student town when the bouncers took exception to our singing - fair enough. The pub was set on fire that night so got a visit from the police. Despite our innocence, we were barred (though as with most barring, just went back a few weeks later).

Also went on a works ski trip. Whole multinational company got barred from all the restaurants in the Alpine resort after an incident involving strings of cheese fondue and various antlered heads on the walls. I wasn't involved but I still giggle 20 years later.

Ghostontoast · 10/12/2019 08:21

I’ve stopped going to Lloyd’s chemist too Needsmoresleep , it was a absolutely freezing cold day, and I had my poorly baby as had been to the drs and needed to pick up her medicine for her but they wouldn’t let anyone in out of the cold until the pharmacist arrived.

MrsPear · 10/12/2019 11:09

I was ordered to leave a shopping centre for breastfeeding in 2010. Southwest London. I refused to sit on a toilet. No swearing or shouting on my part.

Fleurdebleurgh · 10/12/2019 11:23

I am barred from Southend.

isitpossibleto · 10/12/2019 11:27

Barred from an Indian restaurant for refusing to pay for the dreadful food I hadn’t eaten.

BarbedBloom · 10/12/2019 11:31

Sunday school. Apparently I asked too many questions and parents complained I was making their children ask them awkward questions. Hmm I was eight, from an atheist household and pretty sure my mother only sent us for a break, so was probably inevitable.

Babyroobs · 10/12/2019 11:40

Yes I got banned from netmums for life but now seem to have been let back on the site. I also got banned from our local factory / seconds shop for buying items in bulk and selling them for a lot more on ebay. I'm allowed back in there now though.

Needmoresleep · 10/12/2019 11:41

I am barred from Southend

Congratulations!
