Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

Ooh just remembered another. I was around 18 in a pub with friends and some drunkards walk in and sit with us. They go and buy us drinks and when it comes to paying their card is declined. Of course they immediately left. The drinks had already been poured so the awful wretch of a landlady pressured us into coughing up £20 for the drinks that where then thrown away by her anyway. She then barred us for kicking up a fuss. I now know any sensible business owner would have called the police straight away to deal with the runners. Grrr

ChancePeace · 10/05/2019 11:56

Just to clarify they’d ordered themselves drinks too, and they’d offered us them we didn’t ask them to be bought. We already had our own in our hands!

Me and my sister got our family banned from a camp site for having a massive water fight with a bunch of other kids and flooding the toilet block. Well actually I wasn’t there for the vast majority of it and only arrived right at the end, but I shared the bollocking nevertheless.

I got banned from a spoons back when they were over 18s only. I was only 17 but that wasn’t the reason. The barman tried to charge me double for a shot and we got into a bit of an argument. Anyway I might have called him a nasty name.

I also got banned from a local barbers because I called the bloke a sexist pig because he refused me a short back and sides simply because I’m female. He got really aggressive, it was quite scary. I later realised that he might have been upset about the pig bit because he was a muslim, but he was a sexist pig, and it’s still no excuse for getting all shouty and threatening.

The prize goes to the poster who was banned from Wales Grin

Have been on MN noughty step for labelling a pretty unpleasant person as such. Except with colourful language....

Have been thrown out of a football match for foul and abusive behaviour ( chanting at the opposition supporters). When it was actually my matey next to me who was doing it. Was told to never come back. Which of course I ignored.

Chippychipsforme · 10/05/2019 12:04

I was banned from the under 18s night in a nightclub for being drunk and having sex in the toilets. Weirdly was allowed to go to the over 18s nights, despite being underage.

FairyF1 · 10/05/2019 12:05

I was banned from my local supermarket. I used to go in several times a week and knew many of the cashiers. They used to give out free coffee if you had a loyalty card. We didn’t have the coffee but my DP used to like the cups for storing his false teeth (don’t ask). One Christmas in a rush I forgot the loyalty card - at the till the cashier said it didn’t matter and went to give me a paper cup as usual. A Manager overheard and said no it wasn’t allowed. I offered to pay for the cup. He said no again in what I thought was an off hand manner. I lost it and called him an idiot. I was banned! On reflection I’ve probably saved a fortune as I now simply go to the cheapest supermarket over the road and if we fancy something from the other other I simply go to a smaller branches near work. A bit embarrassing to be banned at my age though! My elderly Mum who was with me was mortified!!

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 10/05/2019 12:05

Banned from a dive of a café on the North East Coast for sending the (inedible) food back. I laughed and responded to the effect that they were joking if they thought I wanted to return to a place that served such gorge-rising slop.

This was in the days before TripAdvisor ...

Modestandatinybitsexy · 10/05/2019 12:05

I got banned from a Wetherspoons for ordering a baileys and milk rock and roll

Me: "Can I have a Bailey's and milk please?"
Bar man: "No"
Me: "Why not?"
Bar man: "It will curdle in your stomach"
Me: "Hmm well, can I order a baileys and a tea with no tea please? I'll pay for the tea"
Bar man: "No"
Me: "Why not?"
Bar man: "We know what you're going to do with it"
Me: "This is ridiculous, can I speak to the manager?"
Bar man: "I am the manager, get out."

MaMisled · 10/05/2019 12:06

I was barred from our "friendly "local newsagents. Double buggy had mud on wheels so I parked just inside the door, leaving a friends 8 yr old with my 3mth and 19mth old. Counter was just 3m away. After I'd paid, they'd gone!? Eight year old had been told to take buggy outside because of dirty wheels and was standing on narrow pavement next to a very busy High Street! I totally lost my shit and was barred from returning!

MidsomerBurgers · 10/05/2019 12:06

I got banned (twice) from the Most Haunted website back in the day, for asking Colin Fry to clarify the 'trumpet incident'. Grin
Still in contact over 15 years later with a few forum members. Great times!

FairylightsAndMoonbeams · 10/05/2019 12:06

I was barred from a nightclub once for fighting.

In reality, a drunk woman cornered me, became overly aggressive and I threw my pint over her to get away.

It was all forgotten by the following weekend...

Years ago I got banned from a furniture shop, a posh one. Looking back it is funny and I do still speak to the owner who helped me out at a later date by lending me a sofa.

I bought an expensive table and chairs and the wrong cushions came. They were very nice and he told me to keep them if I was happy. But then another customer rang who had mine in error and she wasn't happy. He then told me I had to give her them back. I refused because she had had them two weeks and I had used hers/mine. He got in a fury with me and told me not to shop there again. I told him what made him think I would shop in his scabby shop again!

My colleague has been banned from the roughest pub in town, known as the Star Wars bar for arguing with the barmaid over short-changing her. Just what was she doing there in the first place.

viques · 10/05/2019 12:10

I've never been banned from anything, ever. Sigh.

Now, where did I put that bucket list...... Grin

Asta19 · 10/05/2019 12:12

I got banned from a nightclub in my teens for supposedly flooding the toilets! I wouldn't have minded but I didn't actually do it! I was banned for ages and it was quite a blow as it was the only club in town, and we all used to go there for the late drinks Sad

BadmintonBadass · 10/05/2019 12:13

Many years ago I was in a very small bar with friends that we used to go regularly. There was an older woman who was extremely drunk and kept barging into people, spilling drinks over people, generally being a pain and because it was such a tiny bar you couldn’t really get out of her way. She spilt a drink over my friend and when my friend sarcastically said “thanks!” this lady stood staring at her angrily for a good minute or so before making some sort of threat, we didn’t take her seriously and told her to fuck off. 5mins later the doormen come over to throw us out because she was apparently the owners wife and had alleged that we had “roughed her up”?!
Despite the fact there wasn’t a mark on her and it was such a tiny bar that if there had been any kind of brawling it would have been obvious to the door staff, we were still barred

I got kicked out of a facebook page (quite a useful one too lol) because when someone was being unhelpful and unkind to another member I told them they should avoid posting on a post if they were just going to be condescending and unkind instead of offering advice......... turned out it was the admin who messaged me telling me she was the 'big cheese' (a stinky one I imagine lol) and that I was being removed from the group.

StreetDreams · 10/05/2019 12:14

Great thread, OP!

I was banned from Liberty's in London as a teenager for flirting with a security guard - I was chucked out and barred from coming back in by another security guard who I had not flirted with, so I think we can all see how justified that was.

I am also technically banned from the US following a difference of opinion with the INS (as was) but it was a very long time ago, before anything much was computerised, so I could probably sneak back in if I tried unless they still have my fingerprints on file somewhere.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/05/2019 12:19

Not me, but FIL is banned from loads of restaurants around this area because of his horrible treatment of waiting staff. Pompous twat.

Excellent news - I'm very encouraged to hear of good managers who refuse to tolerate their staff being subjected to abuse whilst simply doing their jobs.

whohaa · 10/05/2019 12:20

I was banned from a well-known clothing chain. They sacked me because I had a disability. I went in to talk to them and security made me leave. I sued for disability discrimination and won!

SpeckofStardust · 10/05/2019 12:20

Very tame, compared to some. I got banned from a perfume forum. I joined up to ask for suggestions for a new perfume when an old favorite was discontinued. Only ever posted one thread. I got lots of pms from other posters offering me samples of perfumes, I just needed to send them money and they’d send the samples to my home address. Well, obviously I wasn’t going to send money to a bunch of random strangers on the internet and give them my home address for perfume samples I could get for free at my local department store or Sephora so I thanked them for the recommendations but said no thanks to the samples. Then I got an email saying I was banned! Ok then.

81Byerley · 10/05/2019 12:20

I was banned from a pub for complaining about a tough steak. The waitress dealt with it appropriately and replaced the meal (which we had paid for in advance). We were just about to start to eat when the landlord came storming out, shouting "How dare you criticise my steak? There's nothing wrong with it" I tried to explain that I couldn't cut it, and he insisted it was ok, so I said "To be honest, if I bought it at the butcher's I'd think he'd made a mistake and sold me braising steak". That's when he went berserk and barred me. My partner poured his beer -accidentally- over both plates before leaving, so they couldn't be eaten by anyone else.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/05/2019 12:23

A group of us were banned from an amusement arcade in Barmouth (aged about 12) when a couple of them (not me) started shaking the machines in an attempt to knock off coins and prizes instead of winning them in the traditional way.

Before anybody asks, sadly, it wasn't Nessa in charge at that time Grin

YorkshireBelle2019 · 10/05/2019 12:23

Got barred from POF. No idea why!!

Barred from MN a while ago using a different user name. They didn't say why but think it might've been because I posted for advice on behalf of a friend twice so a couple of stories didn't match up with the rest of my posts (she's got kids, I haven't). They might've assumed I was not genuine. Also I had a very busy and indecisive dating life at the time and I wouldn't have blamed them for wondering how I had so many different anecdotes about different blokes!

Also barred from a pub in my home town for dodging the bouncer when underage and sneaking in through the back. It was years ago but I think it still stands as any time I pass by, he gives me the most evil look!

WitchesGlove · 10/05/2019 12:24

I got banned from Nethuns

Well who hasn’t.....
