Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

Never been banned from anything (I never did go on to the other forum Wink) but there's plenty of time...

My granddad got a year's ban from his local for getting bolshy in an argument with the landlord after the landlord had the audacity to put the Christmas Tree where his seat belonged. He was 80 Grin

He goes back a year later, and to welcome him back, the landlord puts a miniture Christmas Tree on my Grandad's usual table Grin

ElsieMc- I think we live in the same town (Star Wars bar) Grin

I was almost barred from Primark for shouting at the customer services staff. In my defense I had PMT.
I was with a group of 10 or so friends and we were all refused service in a pub because we were wearing motorcycle leathers. I remember saying "I'll take my perfectly good cash and spend it in another pub".

SmellMySmellbow · 10/05/2019 17:04

Police banned me from uni campus for trying to climb a bell tower to steal the bell Blush I lived on campus at the time so thankfully it was never enforced.

norrismcwhirtersfridgemagnet · 10/05/2019 17:05

I was banned from a very posh hotel for paddling in their indoor fish pond. Grin

Onlysocks · 10/05/2019 17:07

I got barred from a pub where they had a quiz every Friday night. The Landlord used to guess the answer to questions and I got so annoyed that he was telling people that there were five sides to a triangle based pyramid that I made a model of one out of a beer mat and numbered the sides.

That week I got my hair cut and coloured and I didn't want to miss the quiz with my friends so I wore a very different outfit and brazened it out (I'd gone from long blonde to short dark hair so did look very different). The Landlord kept looking at me as though he wasn't sure if he recognised me but he didn't come and say anything.

Banned from a big uk rail station in theory, but in practise i just carry on Grin i got involved in a ruckus - falsely accused of something ridiculous - police were called and they let me go without any action of course but station (bitter, having been made to look like the arses they were for calling police over nothing!) Banned me for life! ShockAngry

AnyFucker · 10/05/2019 17:12

Netmums kicked me off for foul language (in good company on that one)

Barred from a pub at 16 for being underage. Barred again at 18 for fighting Blush

Barred from Woolworths for pinching Pick'n' mix

Frozen out of the PTA

There's probably more....

Tunnocks34 · 10/05/2019 17:14

Not banned but I got kicked out of boots as a teenager for being over zealous with the testers.

Actually think I applied a full face of make up.

RidgedPerfection · 10/05/2019 17:14

Barred from a gym over a certain amount of time / visits per week when it was obvious that I was exercising excessively as part of a bigger MH problem. Work gym, so they could. In hindsight it was a responsible move.

FunkyKingston · 10/05/2019 17:16

I was banned from the Kwik Save in York. I n the days before chip and pin, the cashier had a pathological hatred of students. Her favourite trick was to be unconvinced that your signature matched the one on the card and get you to re sign several times, spend an age starring at the signature and then say 'no, do it again' until she was 'satisfied'.

I wasn't a student, but i waa young scruffy and this was a studenty area, so sge pulled tgis stunt on me a couple of times. On the third time this happened to me, i let rip. I was then chucked out the store by the manager. To my eternal shame in the heat of this, i walked out satsumas and a tooth brush ubpaid for in my hand. It was only when i got home that i realised i hadn't paod for them.

But hey, I'm still here and Kwik Sa e aren't, so i think that's a moral victory.

Gnitiman · 10/05/2019 17:17

Oh - banned from Brownies for playing up during the panto and refusing to wear the right socks, banned from Guides for being a little shit.

RacerBakk · 10/05/2019 17:20

SimonJT · 10/05/2019 17:22

I got barred from a bar for peeing in a plant pot.

I was also banned from an indian restaurant, I was physically defending someone who was being beaten up, the people I was trying to defend them against launched me through the indians window.

PotterHead1985 · 10/05/2019 17:57

@EstuaryBird I know you!! Well FB you. I am/was on that Facebook group and well I remember this. I was silently clapping you all the way Wine

ForalltheSaints · 10/05/2019 17:59

I was banned as were all of the people in my then employer from a pub in a village (I'd only been to the said village once). So were the darts team and several others, by a landlord who hadn't much clue about local life and sold up about a year later.

I was banned from Top of the Pops (on a record as a backing vocalist, and they would only have the band on).

PotterHead1985 · 10/05/2019 18:05

Banned from a local travelling funfair for calling them out on being shits.
They hired the local kids to work the tombola type yokes. One of the lads somehow broke a gun. They fired both of us. I stormed back down later that day demanding payment for the previous days work and wouldn't leave until they paid me!

dontdoxmeeither · 10/05/2019 18:38

Also been banned from Bounty Grin

midgwit · 10/05/2019 18:40

Myself and a friend were banned from the YMCA in San Francisco for 'horseplay in the elevator'. We had nowhere else to stay that night and had to sleep in the car Hmm
Also got kicked out of a police station in Brisbane for swearing, which sounds awful, I wasn't swearing that much!

FancyAPint · 10/05/2019 18:44

@googleismyfriend

He didn't even try, just shooed me out saying "get out, get out"!

It was quite a long time ago now, maybe about 10-15yrs

ClariceBeansUncle · 10/05/2019 18:46

Got kicked off the 'I love my Aga' Facebook page for forgetting that not everywhere is like Mumsnet where 'robust' discussions are allowed. Quite proud.

Topseyt · 10/05/2019 19:00

I had a train captain on the Docklands Light Railway in London try to get me to leave the train for nothing more than having my DD1 (then just about 6 months old) next to me in the buggy.

It wasn't a busy time of day, we weren't blocking anything and we were in the designated parent with child space.

He tried to tell me that pushchairs were banned on his train when in actual fact they are not banned on the network at all. I'd seen this guy before, and he always behaved like rather a bully. This time he tried to bully me but I refused to let him. I politely and calmly said that we would be staying put as we were breaking no rules, were in nobody's way and had done nothing wrong.

He did back off, grumbling a bit. I had his name from his badge though. I reported him to customer services and a few days later got a call back saying that following multiple similar complaints a staff member had now been disciplined. Never saw him again.

cortex10 · 10/05/2019 19:09

Some of us on our church youth group outing were threatened with deportation from the Isle of Wight for messing around on the road train.

Babyroobs · 10/05/2019 19:11

Only from Netmums for telling someone to fuck off.

notacooldad · 10/05/2019 19:13

Only from the local Indian about 35 years ago. They forgot they had banned me and I was back the following Friday as usual!
