To ask if you've ever been banned/barred from anywhere?

Was having a conversation with a friend this week and she's been banned from her local swimming centre for arguing with the receptionist. The receptionist didn't believe her daughters age and said that she was trying to get her in cheaper Confused resulting in the manager banning her for life!

It made me think of the time I was banned from Santa's grotto 15 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can't go into too much detail because it's extremely outing!

Have you ever been banned from somewhere and why?

Lighthearted 😬

Banned from every Boots in the UK. I was caught robbing some toiletries as I was a completely skint new single Mum. No excuse really but more of an explanation. The security wanted my NHS number to keep track of me??? I didn't have it to hand but thought it was weird.

I've been in since though as it was years ago and I change my hair colour often, however DP has the Advantage Card in his name.

Stravapalava · 10/05/2019 12:26

I have been banned on numerous occasions from a certain nightclub under the arches in Birmingham. As I'm sure many other Brummies of a certain age have! The bouncers were probably on more drugs than the clientele though as everyone always got back in the following week Hmm My best ban was for having a water fight in the back room Grin

GammonNosher · 10/05/2019 12:26

I got banned from the local vet because one of the dogs didn't like me, now i have to take my cat on public transport all because this dog started calling me a bitch (hypocrite) and going mad in the waiting room so i asked the receptionist to do something and he was having none of it just letting it happen disinterested my cat has been through enough as it is so i wasn't having that and i left they wouldnt give me another appointment on the phone and said they dont care if the cat lives or dies it was unbelievable

Treefloof · 10/05/2019 12:28

I got banned from a building that I once worked in, my crime? Sending a fax. No kidding. I suppose I could go back in now cos all staff will be different, but I wouldn't step foot in the place.
Back in my yoof I went to monsters of rock (the download festival now, just doesn't have the same ring to it) then Alton towers, I was banned from a pub near Alton towers but I dont remember why.
Also in my yoof got barred from a local pub for throwing beer over the jukebox, but it wasn't me 🤷‍♀️

And finally banned from Safeway's for life for stealing chocolate. Damn .

Hoppinggreen · 10/05/2019 12:29

Yes rubbertree
Upset me and that’s ok because I can take it but embarrass my 7 year old and make her cry when we did absolutely nothing wrong (as confirmed by other horrified customers who were watching) and I will take you down. Sadly for her I had the means to do it.

StCharlotte · 10/05/2019 12:29

I got banned from my local pub on my 17th birthday because my sister (the barmaid) dobbed me in.

And I got banned from a tea shop we used to frequent when I was in the sixth form because I told one of the owners I preferred his brother's Millionaire's Shortbread.

puma84 · 10/05/2019 12:30

@StoppinBy you've just reminded me..I'm banned from my towns fb page 😩 it was really handy aswell.

I too was banned for sticking up for a group of people 😤

I got banned from a forum as an admin for being gender critical.

Got banned from Facebook a bunch of times when I and a group of friends had taken over a porn-page and turned it into a feminist page. We used to caption foto's of people who send us threatening message with said messaged and got banned for that. It was good fun, but I have learned to keep politics off Facebook as it is obviously not the platform for it.

CMOTDibbler · 10/05/2019 12:35

My 80 year old dad got banned from the local chemists last year for being a pita. Which he is, but he was only trying to make sure that he and mum actually got their huge number of medications on time each month.
I keep waiting for them to be banned from the pub that they go to for lunch every day too, but the staff are lovely and very understanding. I tip massively when we visit and thank them deeply for putting up with the madness.

Justbreathing · 10/05/2019 12:38

@CMOTDibbler
I’ve got one of those too! Only banned from one pub. He saw the landlord recently and he said, if you apologise you can come back in. The stubborn git refused.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 10/05/2019 12:39

@Lakielady - I am in the UK and was an Admin on a US dog forum and would always refer to bitches instead of lady dogs. Fortunately the other admins were sensible dog owners and we would have private giggles at the idea of the precious little lady dog wanting a boyfriend.

On a Guinea Pig page on FB I jumped before I was pushed. Someone posted that they were in tears because they had discovered that in some parts of the world people eat GP's. I asked if they were vegetarian and said that if they were not they had no right to criticise someone else's choice.

Bloke23 · 10/05/2019 12:40

Banned from a kebab shop, for being involved in a very drunken food fight

Enidthecat · 10/05/2019 12:40

Barred from a pub because owner wrongly accused me of being on drugs. I was 18, it was about 7pm and we hadn't even had a drink yet. I'd never taken drugs in my life.

She said 'I'm not serving you with whatever you're on' and I was genuinely confused as I had no idea what she meant. My mate had to explain it to me. When I then said I've not taken anything she chucked me out and barred me.

It was the first time I'd ever been there so I didn't care and never had any reason to go back!

Yabadabadont · 10/05/2019 12:42

Got banned from boots at 15. We’d spray shitloads of the perfume samples, walk out the shop drenched. They had enough and banned us. Of course it was forgotten about the following week though

sar302 · 10/05/2019 12:42

I got banned from a club whilst at uni. My friend and I tried to run in without paying, and we were tracked down by a couple of bouncers. My friend tried to argue, but instead vomited all over their shoes!

SlurplePurple · 10/05/2019 12:47

I was banned from a pub as an older teenager. Had gone for my friends 18th party, never stepped foot in this pub before in my life.
Random very drunk bloke tips his pint over my shoes and the glass smashes all over the floor. His mate brings a dustpan and brush and passes it to me saying “clean up this fucking mess woman”.
18 year old me was an angry ball of feminism and refused, not politely.
Drunk bloke then decides to thump me. My immediate reaction was to jump off my big heavy bar stool, pick it up and smack him over the head with it.
Landlady comes over and throws me and a friend out and bans us for life.
Same landlady still owns the pub now and I’m still banned haha.
Thankfully I am much less inclined to hit people with furniture these days.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 10/05/2019 12:49

I got banned from a KFC in Northampton for trying to buy a chicken burger.

Flustercluck · 10/05/2019 12:54

Me and a big group of other expats were once banned from an Irish pub in Singapore. Apparently not everyone liked our enthusiastic renditions of Danny Boy and the theme tune to Tony Harts The Gallery Grin

Tippexy · 10/05/2019 13:04

As my dc will tell you my anger is more quietly menacing rather than shouty so I told her I was going to ruin her business- I did and she sold not long afterwards.

Gosh, aren’t you a treat.

EstuaryBird · 10/05/2019 13:06

I’ve been banned from a FB page for ‘fans’ of a certain Cruise Line.

DP and I got into Cruising last year when we retired, went on two and met lots of lovely people.

While on our 2nd cruise we were being shown to a shared table of eight, there were 6 there already there, 2 of whom were being seated just ahead of us. As our waiter approached one woman said ‘not this table please’ (quite loudly) the waiter pointed out the 2 empty seats but she was adamant ‘there’s no room at this table for them’.

My DP knew immediately it was because he was Black and asked the Waiter to seat us elsewhere, which he did....then seated a White couple at the table that refused us. A couple who were there came and apologised to us later and said she was an awful woman.

Anyway, I found her on this FB page (yes, I did hunt her down!) and told her in no uncertain terms what I thought of her racist arse.....and yes, I may have called her a bigoted old cunt....and some other things. They banned me but I got back 2 more times under assumed identities to give her some more (not sorry!). But they said that if I do it again they’ll refer it to the Police so I’m properly banned now.

At least those that read it will know her for what she is....

clairemcnam · 10/05/2019 13:07

Banned from MN at work. I could not remember my log in details at work, so created a new account, was banned in minutes before posting or commenting on anything. All I can think is that a colleague is a PBB and MN recognised the IIP. I have been too scared to actually log in at work now in case I get banned.

ghostyslovesheets · 10/05/2019 13:09

I was barred repeatedly from Bounty - years ago - mainly due to arguing with twats

and UK Parents for pretty much the same!

Eliza9919 · 10/05/2019 13:10

I've been banned from many places. Usually for arguing.

Eliza9919 · 10/05/2019 13:11

Been banned from MN for calling Theresa May a cunt Grin

FancyAPint · 10/05/2019 13:17

I got chucked out and banned from a local cafe for asking what oil they cooked their chips in (just wanted to check it was vegetarian!).
