2.65million.
Andrea Leadsom said there would be clear case for taking action if it reached 17million.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why should it be revoked? There was a democratic vote, you seem to be disregarding the 17million people who voted out.

Whilst I’m not keen on leaving and less keen on a no deal Brexit, I don’t think a democrat vote can just be ignored.

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 22/03/2019 09:04

I highly doubt it'll get to 17m.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 22/03/2019 09:06

The "democratic" vote hasn't been ignored. They've spent almost 3 years trying to enact it. They can't find a way to do it that doesn't involve massive economic and political damage. It's time to think again.

StealthPolarBear · 22/03/2019 09:07

That vote was three years ago. Voters were manipulated and the situation has changed. Do you never change your mind?

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 22/03/2019 09:08

3/17 what an odd way to present it

NCforpoo · 22/03/2019 09:10

People forget it was a non- binding vote- like a consultation . And it was 3 years ago. Our elections are every 5 years and a lot changes in that time!
And as we know there was not full information given.
3 years is a long time. I think we should have another referendum with full information.
Thats my view. I don't expect everyone to agree with it. But I do hope anyone who does agree signs the petition. I just don't want us to assume it's a fait accompli.

Surely someone would need to go through each signature and make sure each one is eligible to vote. Only then could it be taken seriously.

Alsohuman · 22/03/2019 09:13

We don’t have one general election and stay with that government for all time, we change our minds. If another referendum is undemocratic, why isn’t May taking her deal repeatedly back to Parliament in the hope of a different result also undemocratic?

FuriousCheekyFucker · 22/03/2019 09:15

Don't bother with the Petitions or referendums or elections.

We should run our political system on how many Facebook likes a post gets. It's the only fair way.

Damntheman · 22/03/2019 09:18

People don't seem to realise that not allowing the people a voice once circumstances have changed and new information has come to light is ACTUALLY what is undemocratic.

Damntheman · 22/03/2019 09:19

I suspect some checking of the petition would be done, given how large the numbers are signing it. HOWEVER, you you download the petition data, the numbers signing from abroad are not that many, and could well be easily explained by Brits living/working abroad. I'm a brit living abroad and I definitely still have the right to vote in British politics.

CoffeeRunner · 22/03/2019 09:19

This pretty much sums up how I feel about the whole “democracy” issue.

CoffeeRunner · 22/03/2019 09:20

There should have been a photo attached to that last message.....

NCforpoo · 22/03/2019 09:21

That's a good way of putting it damntheman
Its gone up 500,000 since I originally posted. I'm still hopeful.

Ah, there it is 🤦‍♀️.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/03/2019 09:23

Signed.

Persimmonn · 22/03/2019 09:26

We need a civil war, that’ll wake up the arseholes who’ve ruined our country.

BorisBogtrotter · 22/03/2019 09:26

It is only democratic when it goes their way. British judges making rulings on British constitutional laws are undemocratic, parliament using its constitutional rights is undemocratic, MPs performing their role in a representative parliamentary democracy is undemocratic. Everything other than giving them exactly what they want when they want it is undemocratic and they complain we call them thick

iwantatattoo · 22/03/2019 09:26

I voted yesterday morning and haven't had my confirmation email yet.

Damntheman · 22/03/2019 09:27

I'd try again if it's been that long tattoo! Mine took a couple of hours, the site was really struggling yesterday. Keep trying!

iwantatattoo · 22/03/2019 09:28

I'm worried that if I vote again it will be flagged up as a second vote though and won't be included.

sailorsdelight · 22/03/2019 09:28

Keep signing people! It’s the official parliament petition thing - the signatures are checked -

FineFanks · 22/03/2019 09:29

why should it be revoked? There was a democratic vote, you seem to be disregarding the 17million people who voted out.

THIS!! Let's not go round in circles until we get the desired result.

sailorsdelight · 22/03/2019 09:29

More than one signing is disregarded

starabara · 22/03/2019 09:30

I agree with PP. surely this is only valid as a representation of the populus if every signature on there is eligible to vote?

And you do realize the hackers have been competing to put he most signatures on, don’t you?

And that Andrea Leadsom really can’t make that petition actually force a revoke?
